So Ange ball doesn't seem to work against 11 behind the ball...

No as it looks as though we’re set up to break against teams attacking us

When they don’t and play with a six man block we don’t know what to do

It’s why Ange always says we need to work more on our attacking play.

Opposition just need to defend low and counter fast. Which is every team we will play except the top 3.

Bad result with Villa winning

We're due a really good performance and with everyone (Solomon and that kid who has done next to nothing apart from keep the physio employed) we're at full strength...
I'm not doing opening posts anymore...

Can't agree. I think we just had an off day. It happens. And when you factor in what Udogie and Porro brings to us, for all their efforts, Emerson and Davies just don't have the same threat and link up play in attacking areas.
We just didn't have the same spark for whatever reason...

One of those days....

They got a lot of the ball... And the gulf in quality was stark...!!!

Big shorts is not good enough. Bisouma was double dog shit today...

Ok but this has been coming for a while since the Newcastle game

The game today was supposed to be the start of a relatively easy run

Teams like Wolves doubling us shouldn’t be happening if we want to get to where we aspire to be this season which is top 5 minimum

I can’t see any of it

Any stream is full of advertisements nowadays
Takes me back to my Kodi days :)

I don't know if it's still available but you can subscribe to a channel called "Vidio" which is in Indonesia. It's about £30 quid a year and you get every game, including the Saturday 3pm ones, in full HD with english commentary as it's the official Premier League worldwide feed. Also full coverage of the Champions League as well.

That's what I use but it was being a pain today.

Anyway, as disappointing as it was to lose, if we're managing expectations realistically, this season was always about getting back to the Champions League and that's a race we're definitely still in. We certainly don't need many more performances like the one today though.

Agree. Although, City face this every week. Liverpool too. Arsenal also sometimes...
Yep. But with the exception of maybe Arsenal they have far better players (Son excepted) across the front three than we do

But, to add a little context to my previous post, Wolves are a very good side (good at what they do at any rate) who did pretty much the same thing to City earlier this season IIRC.

Take your point but when Ange took over, did you think we'd have a shot at top 4 ? I didn't. Yet that's where we are, and we've had a long injury list.
I honestly thought 6th/7th but playing better football for this season. So the fact that we are where we are and producing the football we are is more than I expected.
It's also a learning process for Ange too and I think next season will be a better test for him...but for now I'm happy.

That’s right I didn’t think that we would be in contention for a top four spot and we are now statistically.

But the football isn’t good and I think that teams now know how to play against us and get a result as proven today.

Play a low block of 5/6 let us attack and then pick us off!

We take far too long to implement attacking moves and yes today that was made worse by the injuries to Porro and Udogie but how many times does an attack by us stall in the final third?
The ball arrives there but how many times do players like Kulu, who scored a good goal today, Johnson and Werner get the ball and then don’t even consider going forward?

No their first instinct is to play it safe by playing the ball square or backwards!

Thus stalling or negating the attack and teams know this now!

We’re not in Europe or any cup competitions so we should be able to concentrate on the league, therefore no excuses for a performance like todays.

Ange has had less than 9 months and should be given more time and resources but Levy will look at players like Johnson who was Ange’s No 1 choice and cost over £40 million!

Is he worth it?

Not shown anything near enough to justify that price tag which admittedly isn’t his fault but he needs some serious coaching to be effective if he’s capable.

Poor performance in trying to break down a disciplined team that parked the bus.

Score the first goal and that is an entirely different game though.

It's a fucking million miles away from being bad though.

I think some perspective is required... Remember wanting to hurl your TV through the nearest window when watching "That Cunt", Cunté or FAG...?

That.... Was fucking not "good" football.

I'm not Johnson's biggest fan, I think Werner is a bit of a bottler, that Richi isn't the answer (in government or for Spurs, hey maybe we should swap them round, see if it works) but I'd rather watch them than the shite we had hiding behind Harry Kane for 4 years...

Ange does need time and he does need a plan B. Maybe he needs different players to have that option... Wolves executed their game play perfectly yesterday, we didn't have enough to deal with that... If we end up in the top 5 I'll be buzzing.

I think it did highlight just how important our fullbacks are for us and that if they can be contained were a little fragile going forwards... I think that has to be a priority for the summer in getting much better fullbacks off the bench or having a plan B for when they're not available or being ineffective... I am sure Ange is on it and isn't content with just being around the top 4...

Ok but you could equally say that it’s a million miles from being good!

It’s ok playing a high line and inverted full backs with decent FBs

Yesterday we didn’t have them but still played a high line with FBs who didn’t offer anything offensively resulting in the midfield getting congested giving us long periods of possession with little creativity

As you say Ange has to have a plan b and he clearly doesn’t have one and is sticking to his system like he did at Celtic
As you are aware the PL is an entirely different proposition

Don’t get me wrong
I haven’t given up on Ange especially as he’s been with us less than 9 months but there are some worrying signs!

I go on quite a few Forums even just as an observer and the majority of Spurs fans aren’t happy

Here’s a quote

“Really really poor today. The goal aside Kulu was poor, Son was shocking, lost count the amount of times he gave the ball away. Maddison has not found form since his return and poor again today. We all know what Richy offers and not great today either. That's your front attacking four offering very little at all and in turn putting pressure on everyone behind them.
Biss caused the second goal losing possession, then not once looking around to see the goal scorer running off his shoulder. Royal is just not good enough for our system, either going forward or defensively.
We need to figure out a plan b to break down teams that sit in, as the tippy Tappy crap we played today is certainly not cutting it.”

Pretty fair summation imv

Another view of yesterday’s game

“My take from being at yesterday’s game was yet again, we never seem to seize the opportunity to grab hold of a game from the start and dominate the play, particularly against these so called “lesser sides”. I don’t think Wolves fans were hoping for much because up until they scored you wouldn’t have known they were there.

But, on what’s becoming a theme, we start so slowly, strolling around passing side to side and generally being quite sloppy in our passing, it’s like the energy levels of fallen off a cliff. This in turn saps the energy levels from the crowd and the atmosphere becomes flat, that transfers back to the players and heigh ho, we’ve just gone full circle.

Appreciate Udogie and Porro were missing but the overall absence of both tempo, crisp forward passing and decent movement off the ball was awful to watch. There’s a real lack of movement from the front three and it’s clear to see Bissouma and Madders are off the pace and Sonny just hugging that touchline for the majority of the game simply didn’t work. Also, I noticed a lot of our players were getting knocked off the ball very easily. Sometimes it was fouls not given by Taylor, but generally we need to be a lot stronger on the ball at times and not roll over so easily. Wasn’t good to see that.

I know some are saying opposition teams have worked us out but I’m not sure I believe that. In my opinion, we are simply not playing with the same energy levels, the tempo, the forward passing and indeed the nous that we were using earlier in the season. Yesterday, we didn’t show any of that.

I got a ticket for the Palace game, so hope Ange uses these two weeks to claw back something from earlier in the season. I really don’t want to sit through another version of yesterday’s game.”

I wouldn't say that, because I use my eyes to tell me a story based on the actual facts of what's Infront of me...

There have been times this season when it's been fucking brilliant... Like oldskool Poch brilliant... But yesterday our thin squad, that Ange inherited 9 months ago, was not able to break down a perfectly executed low block and counter attack, from an equally not shit side...

Yes there were poor performances... Fuck me those humans may have had an off day. Fuck maybe Ange had an off day and ballsed it up... But we've seen Anges players in Lillywhites, do much better jobs previously.

I don't give a fuck what some other cunt on the internet thinks... That's their opinion... Good luck to them... Mine is that the better team won. It's that Ange and those players still have a lot to learn and I'd rather we lost 2-1 at least going forwards with the ball than whimpered out defending for our lives like we have for the previous 4 years...

I also think Big shorts and Taff are no longer good enough. I also think that GLC, Skipp, Johnson and Richi are also not good enough. I think we rely on SON in exactly the same way we relied on Kane and that will come back to bite us hard as he is no longer a spring chicken. But no cunt is quoting me because my opinion matters for fuck all...!

I'll piss and moan when I see something shit just like we all do... Fuck me, if Bisouma was Infront of me yesterday I'd have taken his boots off him and shown him how to fucking do it myself...!

But upon reflection I can acknowledge we have no right to win any game... And that our deficiencies run much deeper than 90 mins against Wolves. And that I generally have enjoyed what Ange has served up and that I expect it to get even better once he has had more time to shape his team.

Let's not let those knees get away from us just yet...

All about opinions mate and I listen to them all

I Thought Ange got the subs wrong. None of the 3 coming off had been very good but he had to leave Richy on as he's our only genuine box CF who anticipates crosses coming and can head them in.

We ended up with 3 pace merchants who all like the ball into space to run onto - against a team parking the bus - it didn't make any sense.

At the end of games when we're chasing it we were only gonna end up slinging in crosses and removed the only player who was likely to get on the end of them.

Obviously missed the FBs too but a lot of players had a bad game all at the same time. Thought Wolves parked their bus effectively enough but we lacked patience and guile, not helped by a crowd also lacking patience.

We need better forward players and we need decent cover for our two full backs!

Royal and Davies are ok defensively but offer little going forward

Hopefully we’ll have a full squad against Palace!

I don't think it was bad, I just need to think back to the end of the Poch era, Nuno, Cunt number one and Cunt number two and realise that what we are seeing is way better. Their second goal was a sucker punch, we used to be good at fast counter attacks, now we seem to spend way too much time passing around looking for that perfect goal, in one of our attacking phases, I counted over 30 passes in their half before we turned over the ball (probably more I gave up counting). I would like to see a bit more physicality, aside from Mickey we seem a bit wobbly on our feet, refs recently don't seem to be giving fouls for robust challenges so we need to toughen up and smash through these bus parks. A bit more variety to dazzle and bemuse the opposition, we seem a bit predictable maybe? Overall though it's going well, 2 points off the CL places after 25 games is much better than I had expected and I would be over the fucking moon if we nabbed a top 4 spot this season.

Yes I would love a top 4 finish but this season does top 5 give you a CL spot?

Of course this is better than Conte or Mourinho but our squad certainly needs strengthening especially at FB as evidenced on Saturday and it’s a learning curve for Ange too

About the physicality: for me that’s the biggest difference between this group of players and our first season under Poch. Like now, we were progressive, on the front foot, pressing high, all that. We also tended to get bogged down against teams that sat deep back then. But that group of players was so aggressive and physical. Definitely need a bit of that in this side—aside from a couple players we seem a bit of a soft touch. And overall, our front three isn’t as good as the teams above us. Still, I think we’ll improve in the coming weeks. Maddison hasn’t looked himself since returning, and I don’t remember a squad that’s been more chopped and changed in a season than this one, especially in midfield. If we can muck our way forward for a bit I believe we’ll be poised to finish strong enough to get top four. Never would’ve seen that as a possibility in the summer.

Yes it takes a while to get back up to match speed after an injury that has kept you from being fit enough to play and that applies to both Maddison and Bentancur

But you’re right in that we do seem to be a soft touch and teams believe that they can get a result against us whereas with our side under Poch in his 2-3 good years teams dreaded playing us and it was great to watch!

That said Poch was a bit similar to Ange in that he had a good game A but no game B

But early days yet and a decent result against Palace (they were shite in a shite game tonight ) get us back on track!

Also like Poch he doesn’t really have the players at his disposal to carry out a plan B in any case.

Anyway, hope we can avoid the new manager bounce against Palace.
