Probably the first time in a long time I couldn't care less about a player's injury with Bentancur. He's been poor for a while now and Archie more than deserves a run in the side in that position.

With Kulusevski, we might as well just write this season off and say they're aiming to have him back and playing for the start of next season.

From Frank today

Lucas is being assessed today. We'll know more later today with him. Same with Rodri. Rodri is a hamstring injury, looks like a bigger one. We don't know the extent yet.

Kudus is a bigger one, to the tendon and quad, and don't expect him back until after the March international break.

With Dejan Kulusevski, we know it's a complicated injury. If anyone can come back quicker it's Deki. The most important thing is to remove the pain in the knee and he got an injection 10 days ago and we'll know in 3-4 weeks whether that has settled and then he can get back on the grass.
If Kulu is getting injections for pain at this point in the rehab process, he's probably a long way away from returning.

Bentancur needed to be dropped anyway, and obviously I agree about Gray, but we're yet again running out of bodies.

That's Solanke, Deki, Maddison, Kudus, Bentancur, Udogie, and sounds like Bergvall out for extended time. And I'm probably forgetting someone. Senegal are huge favorites to progress in AFCON, if so that's Sarr gone for another week or so. At this rate, Bissouma might even get back in the side.

Has anyone got Mousa's number ? He's only 38!!!

Bentancur out for "at least" 3 months so season likely done for him as well.

Agreed. Archie deserves to be the first choice ahead of him going forward.

He Was such a good player pre-knee injury. Hope Madders and Kulu don’t follow the same pattern

True, it's so hard to come back from the ACL or other serious knee injuries at this level. Kulu is who I'm most worried about, because physicality and drive is a big part of his game.

In the past, yes. Now? I don't think it is physically as much as it is mentally. I feel like we see NFL backs and receivers coming back from knee injuries like it was nothing.

I am also worried here because his recovery has been so atypical of other players' knee injuries and it the time table keeps getting pushed back.

Yeah, this is true--he's also had a number of head injuries too IIRC. It's just weird how his levels have dropped. Not just the sideways and backwards passing, but the fact that even the sideways and backwards passes aren't connecting.

Weirdly, much like Bentancur, I don't have much of an issue with that if it means someone else gets a fair shake as the Number 9. If you believe what you read, one of Tel's preferences for potentially going out on loan is that he's played in his preferred position as a number 9 so why not give him a shot ?

To make the point again, here we are under another manager--very different style, presumably different training methods, and we're getting the same results in terms of injuries.

No indication of how long he'll be out but I wouldn't be surprised if his season is done.

Which means his career at the club is also probably done. Very sad way to end.
Yes, a tremendous shame if that's the case. If the club wasn't such a complete clown show they should be offering him a testimonial at the earliest opportunity.

He looked like he knew it was bad when he came off. Definitely makes the Gallagher transfer look a good piece of business.

Fucks sake. How dare Ange continue to injure the players with his ridiculous training even after he's been sacked.

But that entire fucking medical team need to be sacked as well. Apparently they made him do sprints to try and run it off and let him play on for 5 more minutes even after it was clear he needed treatment.

Absolute clowns.
