Tough watch that was!

Liverpool are a serious prospect, but getting 6 goals smashed against you is just not good enough regardless of injuries.

We can be so easy to play against. Slot nailed it. Let us get deep into his team's half. Rob the ball. Hit us with a big 2 pass triangle clearing our line and let 2 absolute weapons in Diaz and Salah destroy us.

I reckon Slot will have had a dig at his players after the game too cause they became complacent and allowed us in.

As for strengthening in Jan. Fucking no chance. Jan is always shite and it's going to be compounded by the fact Man City will be after players for the same positions. That's only going one way!

I really want Ange to succeed but that was absolutely pish today.

We absolutely need a really decent 6. Bissouma has zero discipline, and he’s fucking lazy. I like him but he’s way too inconsistent. The lack of understanding from the midfield is astonishing. Not sure if it’s on them or Ange but the way the FBs bomb forward, we’re sometimes 2v4 at the back, when teams counter. The midfield need to give our CBs some cover, especially when we’re playing an 18 year old back there, it’s ludicrous how we play at times, against really good sides.

I like Ange, and have no interest in him being sacked, much rather have this vs the crap we’ve had to put up with over the last 5/6 years but he needs leaders in the middle of the park, a midfield that understands game situations, rather than our midfield running around with gay abandonment. We’re just far too easy to play through.

I know Ange doesn't use them but in this league you do need a Hojberg type player. The problem with our midfield at the minute is they are all ball chasers. None of them are good at watching the game, they just chase the ball round the park. Maybe that's what Ange wants from them i dunno, but you lose all structure as they run around following the football. It's good to have 1 though, which would be Sarr as he's the most energetic and is good at intercepting the ball.

I’m not panicking at all. Ange gets a pass this season given what he is dealing with. My view is that we go all in on the cups and where we finish in the league is where we finish. It’s not like we are going to be relegated.

Use the rest of this season as next season’s launching pad. Pick up a cup along the way if we can.

Thought the midfield issue was especially clear yesterday. Ange asks a lot of them, but he couldn't have been happy with Bissouma's decision-making. Not only did he not hold at the base of midfield, he didn't track back when we turned the ball over, which was a lot. Thinking about the options Over the next couple of games, I'd go back with Johnson or whoever, shift Deki back to the middle, and return Maddison to the bench. Maddison is popping up with a few goals now but we are far stronger when Deki is in midfield.

Thinking about Bisouma, I think it's also about his mobility. He switches off gets the wrong side of the play and can't or won't get back goal side ready to do the bit he is good at which is break up attacks...

Hoijberg wasn't adventurous enough for Ange which is why he dropped down the packing order... He wasn't mobile enough getting forward...

Sarr has all the attributes to do it all, but is still a kid himself.

These players, with the engine to do it all are few and far between and they go to big clubs...

Calceido, Mane etc.

What about converting a young defender into one of these mobile all-rounders...

They should understand when there is danger and they should have the tackling and legs to get about...

Spence maybe...

I think Gray is seen as the man (well, boy) for that position in the long run. But at the rate we're going, he'll be GK by January.

Yup! He gets till this time next season, unless things go drastically pear shaped but he needs to be backed big time in the Summer. Not just in terms of transfer fees but almost as importantly, wages. I can totally see why ppl are calling for his head, his tactics are questionable, even when we’re at full strength. All the great sides had the ability to grind out results, when things aren’t going their way. If Ange could understand that, and adapt when necessary, then pretty much the whole fanbase would be behind him.

Biss is just infuriating mate, it’s like he’s in his own little world half the time, completely unaware of what’s going on around him. I’d be inclined to move him on over the Summer maybe.

Johnson frustrates the hell out of me mate, tough to criticise him too much, given his goal involvements this season but he’s so timid with the ball at his feet, rarely tries to beat his man with his pace, and doesn’t possess the trickery to beat a man with skill, he tends to just pass back or cuts inside into traffic and then loses it, which is why I like Deki on the right, he just makes things happen more often.

I agree Deki is best playing on the right, but he also gives us more workrate and directness in midfield. If we could clone him, we'd be top four.

I'd have him sitting in that 6 role. He could be the Swedish Mousa. Great body strength, very hard to disposses and has a pass in him.

This is not at all a dig at Sonny, but Deki also seems to be captain material too. This is what he said after the game:

“I said to myself [at 5-1]: ‘If you want to play, play now,’” Kulusevski said. “It’s easy to play when you’re winning. It’s easy to play when everything is going good. If you want to be a man, step up now and do your best. And that’s what we did.”

Sonny's a club legend, but he was never captain material.

I think we're seeing what clinging onto an asset too long looks like...

Love Sonny, but as an player he is either fucked tired or totally cooked...

He is still very good but not the Sonny we all know he can be or was... It's horrible to see

Yeah, you can see on his face that he knows he’s lost that edge. Very sad to watch an absolute legend decline.
