I still think we should keep Wimmer, he filled in perfectly for an injured Jan last season. He is a good player and in today's market will cost a fortune to replace.

Looks like 40+ million to replace but that replacement is an upgrade and we must have the cash to burn. Will wait until official announcement but Davinson Sanchez is looking like happening.

This is the most astute point added on the Sanchez transfer in a while. I don't agree with it, but still worth considering.
Keeping 24 year old Kevin Wimmer would almost certainly be a luxury for us, and he would be difficult to keep happy. But should Toby and/or Jan opt to leave next summer, would it be worth it? And could we keep Kevin happy? I suspect that answer is no, and no. But there are four things that could change it:
1. Wimmer proves he can play in a back 3. I think this is unlikely because he lacks the athleticism, and is unlikely to make that up. If the answer remains no, then Wimmer would only play in a back 2, which adds another player to compete with for playing time.
2. Sanchez proves he is first choice material outside of CB, removing a player from the CB competition. But until he proves that, we have to assume he is 4th string LB material (Tip, KWP, Dier are all ahead),and not a suitable LWB at all (nor is Dier). And if at all, 3rd string DM.
3. Both Toby and Vert decide they are leaving no matter what next summer. If Barca came in with 80 million pounds over the summer and Toby (29 - last year of contract) and Jan (31 - getting old) decided to boycott, Levy would surely sell. It would be a good deal for all 3 parties, and an odd possibility given the two's history together.
4. Back 3 begins to get more found out in the prem, making back 4 our number one anyway.
Wimmer is going to be a very good premier league defender for a very long time, but he lacks the quickness and feet to be that in the top 6 - so it is unlikely that he would really see himself staying at Spurs at this point in his career. If he ever wants to play a starting role on a top team, he needs to go a step down, get playing time and prove himself there. Siggy has done that to some extent.
All that said, young Sanchez still has a lot of unanswered questions: Can he play DM? Can he play RB? Can he play RWB? How comfortable is he on his left foot (and therefore playing LCB )? What is his temperament? For now, it seems we may have a top ball handling CB capable in competing for a place in our back 3, but he is young and has a lot of questions to answer before we get overly excited. Wasn't long ago we bought a young dutch striker on the back of a 30+ goal season.
So my point is, you have a point!

For the record, four CB and CCV coming through isn't exactly problematic. We need this strength for competing on multiple fronts.

I agree with @Dustin ,Wimmers pace in our system,unless he reads the game like baresi will be problematic.I ve seen comments that sanchez is a bit of a speedster,but its not like the internet isnt full of crap.
A deeper sitting defence would suit wimmer better whilst he learns his trade.Stays or goes I am happy either way.

Toby is like other players. They have contracts. They signed their contracts and they were so happy when they signed their contracts. He still has a three-year contract. I explain the situation but it’s another rumour in the media.
If Toby leaves I dont think it is because we sell him but because he wants to go,cant do anything but have a prepared squad for any eventuality,just hope this guy is as good as we need/hope he will be.

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with AFC Ajax for the transfer of Davinson Sanchez subject to medical and work permit.
The Colombia international, 21, has signed a contract with the Club until 2023.
The defender moved to Ajax from Colombian club Atletico Nacional in June, 2016 and made 47 appearances for the Dutch side, scoring seven goals.
Sanchez won Ajax’s ‘Rinus Michels’ Player of the Year Award in his only season at the Club, which was previously won by Jan Vertonghen in 2012 and Rafael van der Vaart in 2002.
He made his professional debut for Atletico Nacional aged 17 and was part of their Copa Libertadores winning side in 2016.
Having represented his country at Under-17, Under-20 and Under-23 levels, Sanchez made his senior Colombia debut in November, 2016 and has made two appearances for the national side.
Davinson said: "I would like to thank the coach, management, players and fans of Ajax. It is a great move for me to come here to develop my career.
“I am very excited to be signing for such a famous club as Tottenham Hotspur. I am looking forward to working with Mauricio Pochettino and the players and meeting everyone there."

Seeing quite a few places reporting this. I know that doesn't mean jack shit and is likely just media bollocks but if true I'm assuming CCV is no where near the first team squad? For the cost of Foyth you'd presume he would slot in at 5th choice (assuming Wimmer is off) with CCV pushed all the way back at 6th.
I'd imagine the preference order would go Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Dier, Foyth, CCV. I know Dier isn't really considered a CB anymore but I'd still imagine he'd get the nod at CB ahead of Foyth and CCV with someone else playing CM. He's not a standard CM filling in at CB, he is a CB converted to CM.
Basically, long story short, don't see the point in bringing in both Sanchez and Foyth... The other 4 options plus CCV should be enough imo. Unless someone else is expected to be off this summer or next

He isn't rapid but neither is Jan. Neither is Dier. Toby isn't Aaron Lennon MK2 ffs.
Never heard of this new lad.... literally no idea who he is... figures look good up there though so maybe if he can make it stick in the Prem he can become an upgrade and force Toby and Verts to absolutely top of their game.
I'm not worried essentially, but we do seem to be a little light in depth for a side that challenged for the title 2 years on the bounce...
I can't help but feel a bit frustrated by us not spending some money sensibly to ensure we have enough depth to cope on all fronts.
