Bump.

Lots of chat and opinions about Postecoglou but never in his thread.

Some internet type journalist called David Ornstein (who is highly regarded apparently) claims that Ange's job is safe and the board still see him as the long term strategy going forward. The club are looking to back him in this transfer window.

I believe that.
Hopefully the board has finally committed to a long term plan & back this guy.

Given up trying to predict anything Levy will do. Saying that, as jaded as I am, I really do think we have the makings of a very exciting team. It’s part of the job for a manager to be a lightning rod for criticism but given how thrilling we can be when things are clicking under Ange, it would be very sad if he wasn’t given the opportunity to properly build something.

Guardian's David Hytner (not a hack) reporting that Levy is willing to give him a couple more games to right the ship a bit. Of course, these games are against two terrible sides in Hoffenheim and Leicester:
Postecoglou on thin ice at Tottenham but Levy still hoping for turnaround

Daniel Levy intends to give Ange Postecoglou the opportunity to revive Tottenham’s fortunes, with the under-pressure manager set to remain in charge for this week’s matches against Hoffenheim in the Europa League and Leicester in the Premier League, although the situation is precarious.
Levy would normally be expected to sack a manager who has presided over a league run of five points from 10 matches, as Postecoglou has done to leave the club languishing in 15th place. The 3-2 defeat at Everton on Sunday was the latest low, with Spurs 3-0 down at half-time to a team that had scored 15 goals in 20 previous league matches this season. Their rally towards the end did not obscure the faultlines.
Their form is unacceptable and Levy knows it better than anyone. But the chairman can see that Postecoglou, whose vision has generated buy-in from the fans, even if many are beside themselves with frustration, has been gravely undermined by injuries.
Postecoglou has been running with double-digit absentees (or thereabouts) for weeks and was without 10 senior players at Goodison Park, including his first-choice defence, apart from the right-back, Pedro Porro. The hope, fervently held by everyone at the club, is that things will start to improve once the selection crisis eases.
No chairman wants to make a managerial change in the middle of the season, especially when there is no obvious replacement available. Postecoglou has been able to guide his team to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, in which they hold a 1-0 lead against Liverpool going into the second leg at Anfield on 6 February.
Spurs are ninth in the Europa League table, well set to qualify for the knockout phase. If they finish in the top eight they will advance straight to the last 16. Hoffenheim are enduring a terrible season: fourth from bottom of the Bundesliga, 26th in the Europa League. Spurs finish their group campaign with a home tie against Elfsborg on Thursday week. Remarkably, they are still the favourites to win the competition with many bookmakers. The Europa League winners qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Spurs’ only league win of the dismal current sequence came at bottom-of-the-table Southampton. Yet Levy knows that when Postecoglou’s team click with all of the main players available, they are capable of thrilling football and results. It was only two months ago they won 4-0 at Manchester City. The Carabao Cup first-leg win over Liverpool came the Wednesday before last.
Spurs have recalled the striker Dane Scarlett from his loan at Oxford in the Championship, but they are expected to send him out again this month. They were not happy with the 20-year-old’s playing time.

There’s no evidence that the prick Levy is backing Ange in the transfer window.

And stories doing the rounds that discussions have been had with Allegri (if true) only serve to further undermine the manager.

I was just relieved when I woke up this morning to see this story instead of the one I half expected.

I am 100% certain Levy has sent feelers out to more than one manager in recent weeks--yes, he's a prick and no, he won't back the manager in the January window--but there isn't a chairman in England that wouldn't be exploring options in a similar situation. He'd surely be wary of the likes of Allegri though. Conte version 2.

Even with the injuries, we have a chance to put some of this talk to bed by winning a couple of games over the coming weeks. Top eight finish in the EL would surely be pretty much settled by beating Hoffenheim. Follow that up by taking care of a dire Leicester side and the pressure would ease a bit IMO.

It could be worse: we could have a manager who's publicly saying his team is the worst in the history of the club like Amorim is doing...🤣

Even though they're now two points up on us.

Agree entirely, however. It makes no sense to pull the trigger now even if he's done with Ange. No-one respectable will come in Jan/Feb, so best to wait until after the season.

And the transfer policy should have fuck-all to do with the manager's status. Dead duck or legend-in-the-making, Munn and the rest should be acquiring the best players they can, and should have known long before now who those cunts should be.

Are we still allowed to swear?

The manager’s status would matter a lot less if we had a coherent strategy and identity. As it is, we lurch back and forth between the likes of Conte and Ange, whose player preferences are basically polar opposites.

Levy would have to go begging to the man he fucked... Telling him he was going to fuck him again but without telling him that he was actually going to fuck him...

Poch wouldn't do it, why would he...?

And fuck Levy.

That's because you're after money and not success... It's purely a calculated financial risk (one he keeps fucking up and loosing money on BTW) not a footballing one...

Look for me, I'm tired of this shit, and it only seems to be getting worse with us burning through managers and rafts of mediocre shit players season after season...

We need a real change, but that would be the club changing ownership and the only way that happens is with coherent fan action... Or crazy money offers from some cunt who we don't want in charge...

I don't think any Spurs supporters groups wield enough power anymore because the base is so diluted with day trippers that the money will continue to roll in regardless...

There's such a long line of ST and corporate that any real fan who gives up the most expensive season tickets in the world, will not be missed and replaced in a snap...

The only way it changes is if the money takes a hit. Relegation... Sponsors walking... FFP wouldn't hit us because we spend fuck all...

This is it lads... This is fucking it...

Yep, we’re a tourist club now. The new place is like going to an amusement park. But it’s more like Wally World than Disneyworld, but with Disneyworld pricing.

Levy is and always will be the problem....no arguments there.

Personally although I appreciate that Ange has been a breath of fresh air to the club and i do like him...that was quite some time back.

There was quite a period before the injury list got ridiculous where we were not performing (Ipswich, Palace,)....but the obvious thing for me is that bread and butter basic necessity to organise them properly. The first half against a very poor Everton side told a tale imo.

Kulo, Gray, and now probably Spence have done all they can do but I dont believe the team knows what they are when they go out on the pitch. Yes there are injuries but we should be doing the basics right.
I believe the Leicester game is win or bust for Ange regardless of the club narrative of backing the manager.

👆🏼 I think that's where I'm at...

Regardless of the injuries or the allowances were all making on some level for Ange...

That Everton game was totally unacceptable.

Now that's ok in isolation if you're seeing the signs of improvement during a rebuild...

But we haven't seen that for a good while and the obnoxious belligerence of playing the same way can't be shrugged off by saying "that's how we play mate"... Because we fucking can't, with those fucking players, at this fucking time...

The arrogance or lack of flexibility or lack of tactical skill to set up a team a different way is murdering us and him right now...

Excuses have run out, results need to change dramatically regardless of who is playing or how we play...

I have to say the first half against Everton felt like a turning point.

It wasn't that he didn't change what we do, it was that Ange tried to change things and we looked completely disorganized and clueless. Like it was desperation on the manager's part. I also think it's a valid question to wonder whether the training methods and style of play are the root cause of the injury crisis.

Saying all that, I still hold out hope that we can ride this out. I just like the guy. I said somewhere else that despite being in 14th or whatever, I'm far more emotionally engaged with things now than at any point since Poch. With some of the young talent (that ironically has emerged as a result of this shitstorm) we've got, I just have a gut feeling we're on the verge of something very good if we'll grab our balls and stick with him.

We really ought to win the next three games (Hoffenheim A, Leicester H and Elfsborg H). Hopefully we win well, bring in a couple of reinforcements, and stop the bleeding. If not, he's gone, and probably fair enough, to be honest.

I was away in Phoenix the past number of days so only got a chance to watch the final 40 mins of the Everton match. I understand that the 2nd half was an improvement on the first but we still did not do enough to justify the possession advantage we had. It was relatively toothless. But the fact that they fought until the bitter end says a lot.

I can't comment on the first half so I have no idea as to why they performed the way they did. Is that on Ange or the players?

In defense of Ange, he has shown some flexibility of late by changing things up. There's been signs of conservatism by sitting back. His fullbacks have not been going balls deep into the oppositions 18 100% of the time or one has been sitting deeper for added protection of our end. And late in this game it appeared that he went 4-2-4 when needing more goals.

I understand the argument against Ange in the sense that when we're up 1 or 2 nil, he doesn't try to simply see the game out. It's as if he wants to win 3 or 4 nil & provide "entertainment" throughout the game. I'm in agreement that if he did see out some games, we would have amassed a few more points. And they've become precious at this time.

I saw that. A lot of our "fans" think he should take shit like that and not react.

Been reading that the club appears to be willing to let him take charge of the Liverpool game at least which, to me, implies that it really could be the end if we lose.

Although we've apparently played Liverpool 27 times at Anfield and we've won 1, drawn 7 and lost 19 ..

First time for everything though .. 😂

Has Postecoglou had the backing from the board this month?

Everyone is trying their utmost. I don’t think anyone is working against me. I don’t think anyone wants me to fail. I think everyone genuinely at the football club… this kind of situation is a tough gig for a manager. You can be very isolated, you can be very vulnerable. I don’t feel that. The people I work with are doing their utmost to try and help me guide us through this. I don’t feel like anyone is blocking that. From my perspective my focus is firmly on the things I can control which is making sure I prepare a team for a really big game tomorrow.

Kulusevski on Postecoglou

Because we had games when we showed perfect football. Football that not many teams can play in the world. We played beautiful games against United, against City 4-0 so I think he is the right man. We play for him. We want to win for him and to be honest we have similar ideas. I am very positive as a guy and I always want to play that football he wants. I have to fight for him because I believe in that football too. Yes, I think he’s the right man.

The tide has certainly turned on Ange over at Spurs Community.
There's a poll with over 600 votes & 66% want Ange out.
I'm in the minority.
