Time to give this fella whatever he wants!
There were pictures before the World Cup of Poch dining with him in Denmark....assume all is well, in that regard. He also went on the pre season tour, I’d have given him some extra time off.

Well that’s good news, couldn’t live without our little magician. I totally agree about more time off.

I heard in the commentary on one of the preseason friendly games that Eriksen asked if he could cut his holiday short and join the team.

Not that I expect it to happen but PSG are supposedly gonna test us to the tune of £100m for Eriksen. Although should we trust Levy with anything these days.

I never really watch Denmark. Does Christian play further forward or what's the crack? Scored another 2 today. Seems to bag goals in every game for the Dane's!

He usually plays more advanced than with us, and they put a lot of play through him and he has more licence to operate freely. Also, international teams are frequently weak in the areas that he is the best at exploiting - transitions, occupying space in between the lines.

From Alastair Gold, post match with Pochettino

The Late Show with Christian Eriksen
Christian Eriksen enjoys a late goal and they're often perfectly placed strikes from distance. I asked Pochettino what made the Dane so good at coming up with the goods in the final minutes of matches. Was it a question of mentality? "I think it's about quality. He has an amazing quality, he can shoot from outside of the box and produce unbelievable shots with his left and right foot," said the Spurs boss.

"Of course it's about mentality too but in the end if you don't have the quality, then you can shoot ten times without the keeper for sure you're not going to score but with Christian he can shoot and score."

Eriksen disagrees with the notion that this campaign he has not been the same player who has shone for Spurs in recent seasons. When you look at his recent stats it's hard to come down too hard on him. In his past seven games for Tottenham, he's racked up five assists and scored two goals. In total he's got nine goals for the club this campaign and laid on 16 assists for his team-mates. There has been talk that the speculation around his future with those Real Madrid links has taken his eye off the ball slightly, but there is also hope at Spurs that he might put pen to paper on a new deal.

"It is a situation that is a very special situation, Christian is a special person, I think we are all special, different and we need to understand that," said Pochettino after the game. "The timing for him or for the club to be agreeing something are maybe different to another player.
"I hope and I wish Christian can be with us in the future but I think Christian and us, we are so open to talk and we will see what happens.
"It is so close the end of the season, a lot of time to talk after and I think the most important thing now, not only for him, is for all the players to be focused and try to achieve the things we want. "We have a lot of big things ahead and we need to be focused only to try and recover, train and compete."

Just pay him what he wants. He loves the club and we can't really replace him. This should have been a lot easier. Hopefully Levy doesn't screw it up.

I think the thing that's irreplaceable is his workrate, which never drops even when some of the things he tries don't quite come off. That said, I personally think we'll sell him to be honest. Very much hope I'm wrong.

We'll only sell him if he wants to go. He's Poch's favourite player with Kane.

Yeah, again, I can't wait to be wrong. Just have a bit of a bad feeling about this one. Not based on any of the media reports, though I saw that Danny Rose was asked about it yesterday: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/apr/24/christian-eriksen-tottenham-danny-rose.

I don't think he'll leave for the ££££, I just think he might be the sort that would fancy trying his game out in Spain at this point. As Rose says, Levy needs to get this one right. (Love seeing him being so honest about it, btw)

Most of us did it.

Tbh he did seem to go off the boil... while still racking up crazy stats....

We couldn't replace him, we dont have the money and there literally no one who would come and do the job without us realistically challenging for a title...

It's reported on the BBC Sport website that Christian Eriksen has verbally agreed to join Madrid. It's in Spanish if you want to translate from AS, it doesn't say when and Levy will ask for €150m, because if he waits a year he can leave on a free....... Levy needs to be careful here and not shoot himself in the foot. If he wants to leave fair enough, but make him a proper offer first - similar to Kane. Then see. He's not going to be easy to replace on our budgets and wage structure.

Edit: note that the above may be bollocks, don't shoot the messenger.

If he has a pre-deal with Real then ... roll the dice and don't sell him for any amount. Chances are pretty good that at 28, Real might not even want him anymore. Sure it's risky financially but New levy don't care about money. He only cares about winning and the fans. Back to reality, what we should be doing is scouring every English academy and then paying over the odds for every good prospect around. That will be the only way for us to compete with the best in Europe long term. We've got to wrest control of English talent away from other clubs. What young talent should want to sign with Chelsea (lol),City or even Arsenal (no English players in their whole squad as far as I can tell). The only club we should be competing with is United, and they have Ole. Case closed. Oh, and keep Eriksen,

Stunned at the amount of people who want to sell him on there. That is nuts.
I think he will stay,Madrid have already spent over £140m,they need to sell Bale&James if they are to sign Hazard and or eriksen, they also fancy pogba,I think Real is his dream move but wont happen and he will stay.He still pulls good stats even when playing below his best, just something hasnt looked right,he used to be so solid defensively, getting goalside, niggling away to press but that part went missing in a lot of games.I would rather he stayed myself, but I could live with it for a wheelbarrow full of money.

Barcelona? Eriksen is the cultured sort, think Poch said he was happy but may want a change of culture/lifestyle that Spain offers. Nothing to do with money of course eh?

Reading Twitter, he (allegedly) came out to the press and said he thinks that it is time to do something new...
