Welcome Moussa Sissoko

Player in Training.
Fuck, I've finally figured it out. Sissoko only can play between May and the middle of August. He was decent against Juve... pre- season.

He's good in international tournaments... always played in the summer.

COINCIDENCE. I think not.

Scored today apparently, quietly having an OK season and growing in confidence? We see a player emerge yet....fingers crossed. I'd rather he continue to get better and repay the faith shown in him by Poch than buy Ross Barkley for example. One Moussa for another Mousa eventually perhaps.

its true a few including kane had a worse game.
None of them really shone, maybe Dave Sanchez, he looked OK, I like Dave. Sissoko was no worse than anyone else so I am not going to bash him for this game. I suppose it doesn't really matter, it was just a warm up game and I am expecting big improvements over the coming weeks.

Right..... time we had a proper fucking chat about this...!!!

He was utter jank...!!! For a long time he looked like he had some kind of inner ear infection and didnt know which way he was facing let alone what it meant to be a 30 million pound, record signing for a title challenging, Champions League, Premier League football club.

Despite him arriving post world cup where he looked like the second coming of Patrick Viera (who despite tour loyalties BTW was fucking superb) he hadn't until recent lived up to the hype.

He has of recent, be much much better and from some quarters is being hailed as the player we brought and consequently has claimed himself a fair few plaudits and even MOM performances.

Now while I acknowledge those performances and appreciate his contribution I am not holding him aloft as we did with Bale and curently do with Kane.

But there has 100% been a change of attitude towards him form the fanbase where we seem to accept he can still be a little clumsy, but when he marauds forwards he makes a real difference.

Watching him over the last month or two his reputation and performances have reminded me of a little cult hero who I challenge any Yid to say they dont or didnt hold some affection for.
media_xl_958265.jpg

This man epitomised the effort and attitude our fans require.

He showed us love for that support and in return he has achieved cult status amongst the spurs faithful. He had his deficiencies, we all know that but he tried his absolute best every time he went across the white lines and we loved him for it.

I can see if Mousa continues to pull up trees his deficiencies will be somewhat overlooked to an extent because we appreciate the blood sweat and toil involved in him putting in the long hard yards.

I think he is a better player than Zakora, so all it takes for him.... or any other player to be fair is for them to want to bleed for the shirt in the same way that any of us would do.

Spot on mate. I loved Didier, the Sarge, Bobby - all blokes who gave their all and were not given the universal love they deserved - we did, but those other cunts just bleated that they were pants. Some even failed to show proper love to Super Pay! I don't know if Sissoko is as good as some geezers are saying at the moment, all this MOTM bollocks every time he has a reasonable game is a bit previous in my bonce, but here is no doubting he has improved and I am happy with the way his game is progressing.

With the right attitude, Poch can do wonders with anyone it seems.... and a good attitude does Sissoko have.

I think he's starting to show what he really can do with Spurs, and whilst I'd say initially I regretted the decision to buy him, I actually would buy him again now.

You been chatting to @Thfcire? You had to bring Pav into the equation... ;)

Yep all those mentioned, are easily forgotten by some, but all those lads (add scott Parker to the mix off the top of me sweed) played like we would have played. That's what I want. That's why I love Kane because he does what I would do, because its pretty much all I could offer.... I'd run my absolute bollocks off and stick my head anywhere it was necessary to effect the game for the benefit of my side.

I dont rhink there is anyone in our side who wouldn't do that for the lads beside them... for Poch....

I actually challenge someone to name a player in our squad who wouldn't fight tooth and fuxking nail for their manager and team mates... I can think of others at other clubs.

This all comes back to what we consistently hear from poch and the players... belief in the project... commitment to the project...

Fuck me if only the chairman of this club communicated honestly with the fans and didnt treat them as a private interest free bank loan this would be the absolute greatest club in the world.....

I have said it time and again sissoko lacks in ability but what he makes up for his effort. Work ethic is brilliant and that is paying off for him

That's kinda my point... but in the comparison I think he is a good player, well there is one in there we saw it at the world cup.

What really got me before was his lack of bottle going in for challenges especially in the air, maybe lack of heart is more accurate?.He doesnt have to be a shithouse like dele or lamela,or aggressive like a keane/viera type, but just do what eriksen does, nibble at the ball, stop forward movement,or like little moura put a decent leap in.He is kind of doing that now,and using the ball better, carrying it better, breaking down attacks much better. He still looks shot of confidence shooting, and when making a trickier killing pass, but you could level that at dembele, wanyama. So if this was his first season i would think we are on to something big,but he is lamela V2.0 pants for ages but now forgiven and playing really well, same with sissoko. For such a big unit,i still expect more dominating from him in stopping opposing sides, but a bit more confidence, get him passing as well as lamela we will have quite some changed player.

If a team offered us £35m now, would you sell?the only sure truth here is no spurs fan should biting someones hand off to even make a previously unimaginable small profit (think in august we`d have all taken a sizeable hit on what we paid for sissoko). Now i would say reject an offer like that, would I still say that in july??who knows,he has to keep on doing what he has been doing.

This is the value of Poch, not moaning but making what he has better, what a job in turning around so many players.

Amen. Mourinho is on £18m a year at Man Utd - £346,000 a week. Poch is actually worth as much as that, because he is saving the club way more over time in making/adding value to players.

I'm always of the belief that if you give Poch your belief, time and energy, he's repay you in his. As I said a little earlier, the right attitude is the most important thing, and the players can be coached to improve. I don't think it's a secret Poch can turn a player around given long enough, and a base skill level to worth with (I think he'd struggle with me, frankly... even with all the will in the world)

The bad apples had to go because they didn't give him at least one of those, it's always felt to me.

Holtby being a bit of a joker didnt suprise me,and same with Walker to an extent,I bet that didnt break Poch`s heart. He likes serious, focused, dedicated and wanting to improve, back to the thread regardless of questions over ability,Sissoko gives Poch all those attributes

Clearly value is being added but what poch is doing is pretty simple....keep faith in people who work hard. Utd dont have work hard players they are all paid to much!

Many witnessed a beastly player running rampant prior to arriving here however inconsistent he may have been. I don't know what it was that greatly depleted or even shattered his confidence once he got here (big price tag &/or late to initial training camp?). Nevertheless, he was frustrating to watch.

Fortunately Poch maintained the faith & continued to play him while many of us simply scratched our heads in disbelief at the first sight of each ensuing game's team sheet. Obviously he saw something in him during training that many didn't. I honestly thought he was playing him in the hope that he might look good here or there & potentially ship him out for a reasonable fee.

But I have to commend Sissoko.. It's been quite a journey for him.
The guy was relentlessly ridiculed yet he continued to press on.
It didn't appear as if he offered much. Yeah he kept it simple by releasing the ball early & making the easy pass (sideways or backwards) but it seems that these were the baby steps necessary in gaining confidence.

The guy has persevered to the point that he's now expected to be in that team sheet for all the right reasons.

Mate..... that is what I want to see him do in the FA cup final..... I've been keeping this little dream to myself, like a guilty secret.....

Imagine that.... for us to seal the 3-0 win on the 70 minute mark...!!!

Really for me it's just been the position change. When he was lining up in advanced roles it just wasn't working. He is a simple player like you say. He isn't going to receive the ball near the corner flag stationary and beat a few guys. Hes kinda clumsy.

Now though he is asked to use his size to retrieve the ball and drive forward to feed attackers... This he is good at!

Another thing I have noticed is I think Poch has told him not to play like Winks, or Dembele, allowing players to come to them before passing. Sissoko seems to have been told to pass in space. Again this suits him.

I think the team he is in now helps massively. He seems like a guy who loved the challenge of being good enough. He was a bit of a shoe in at Newcastle (to my knowledge).

He needs a goal so badly as he is getting in advanced positions now and looking for passes, as his shooting confidence is gone.

I've slagged him no end, so humble pie for me and fair fucks to him!
