Wanyama is offering zero and has anyone seen Dele?

I am about sick of this. Dele, aside from a couple of tricks is not a guy who can impact a game for 90 minutes. Eriksen is a downhill skier and Wanyama has no right being out there.

Our midfield is a disaster.

Well we got out of the half still in the tie, which looked doubtful in the first 15 minutes--they were even better than they were in the second legs against Madrid and Juve, and we were shell-shocked. That said, they're a bit panicky with aerial balls into the box, and that looks like the most likely source of a goal right now.

Hope Jan's OK, that was scary. Had just texted my son that I thought the ref might be right to have another look at him.

Sissoko has changed the momentum of the game. The guy runs when others wouldn’t. Super player.

Trippier is fucking useless.
While in the moment I find myself agreeing with what you say.... your fucking knees are all over the show bruv.

Were in this game now, we've got a chance of taking this to their place all but level. They ain't unbeatable, were proving that right now.

Remember we're on our fucking arse straps personnel wise... but that's for another thread.

Captains performance from Mousa after 20 fucking mins.

Moura definitely does need to get his head up, playing with blinkers on at the moment..

Mate, Trippier has stunk the place up all season. Today’s disgraceful performance is not an isolated event.

Mate I could pick a few that i think have been passengers.... tonight and for many many games.

The issue is that we dont have a thick enough or good enough squad to be choosy about who we stick out there.

Trips was mustard in the world cup so we know he has it in him...

A 1-0 loss is not insurmountable. With the right attitude/performance and personnel we can beat these.

I’m sorry lads but that was fucked. Moura ran his arse off and Sissoko was outstanding again but there were some truly horrible performances from guys who you would expect to be better given their status and paycheque.

Dele, Eriksen and Wanyama were all poor. Llorente did a job in dropping deep which robbed us of a target man. Given we want £100m for Eriksen that is an indictment on the Dane. And it is a bigger indictment on Dele who simply does not have a work ethic.

Sissoko embarrassed guys who have 5 times his transfer value in our biggest game of the season so far and that is disappointing.

Yes, we are still in the tie but we are pushing a very heavy cart up a very steep hill now.

I'll take that, a really disappointing display though, much like the Spammers on Saturday, our passing was utter wank. The disappointing thing is, we had some of our gun players out there, in Dele (looks so low on energy and confidence) and Eriksen but they were both so poor, Cristian needs to step up in these games and this season he's been so far off his usual level. All good though we showed when Moussa came on, that we can definitely get what we need out there, especially with Sonny back and the fact we can't really play any worse.

Wishing Jan a speedy recovery and thought Moussa and Danny were standout performers and i know it's like flogging a dead horse, but if anything the last games have shown, is that we need a major clearout and plenty of fresh faces this Summer.

Mate, El Hadj Diouf was mustard in a World Cup too and subsequently proved himself to be a very ordinary player.

The great players do it week in, week out. Trippier is not a top level player.

Your point about us being on the bones of our arse is well made but we simply did not show up in the first half hour and guys who know better went missing.

It is the semi-final of the Champions League FFS. Our guys played like it was a beach kick around for the first part of the game. Inexcusable.

I do see that result as not the end of the world..... if we win at the weekend and then show up for the 2nd leg.

I could pick half the side who I dont think affected the game in the way they should have or we needed them to... but like I said who the fuck do we replace them with....? They've done well enough to get us to within touching distance of the CL final and what may still prove to be a solid 3rd place finish behind 2 currently unbelievable clubs.

If I pick one thing from tonight that is symptomatic of the issues we should discuss in the transfer thread.... we had 1 shot on fucking target. Son back may change that but our depth is the issue and has been the issue for the last 3 years.

We started with the wide open wing backs, and 3 in the back, but Ajax mainly played 1 up top leaving 3 CBs guarding one striker. This left Wanyama looking hopelessly marooned in CM and they absolutely dominated us. On the other side we only half pressed the ball as Llorente didn’t leave anyone with much confidence of winning it, and again this left them with plenty of time to exploit their numbers in the CM. We set ourselves up to counter, but couldn’t win the ball to do it. Going to 2 CBs gave us another in the CM and narrowed us, which allowed us to get a foothold back in the game. MP got out done on this one early on, but Ajax left the door open in the second half. I’d speculate that performances by a few (mainly Trip, Wanyama and Dele) combined with a ridiculously weak bench clearly kept us from pulling one back.

We’re definitely still in it, but in all honesty Ajax beat us without playing their best 90 minutes of football.

I have been criticised in the past for negativity but here goes....
.
I am deligthed is only 1...they are a good side with technical ability as the goal proved..but the introduction of sissoko and going 4 at the back turned game. they resulted to time wasting.. game is there for taking get sonny back and mouss fit and we will smash em

I managed to avoid hearing anything about the game for seven hour and just watched it. The way I saw it, we got run over by a really exceptional team for about 20 minutes and lost because of it. For a large part of the game we reined then in reasonably well. Trips and Wanyama didn’t have their best nights, otherwise we worked really hard but couldn’t quite get it to fall our way, despite our best efforts.

But apparently i’m wrong. Dele has no work ethic, Eriksen is gash, Wanyama has no business playing. Moura can’t see a pass. I’ve lost track of how many of our players are not up to it.

With half the team injured we’re down a goal with a full 90 minutes to play. Son is going to score, we’re going to the final.

So fuck off all of you with your twattish old place kneejerk match day thread childish insults bullshit. Save your energy to wish SuperJan a quick recovery. May he score the winner in Amsterdam.

Their goal was really annoying as even though it was good movement and a great pass, I have no idea why neither one of Rose or Toby were not tighter to the player in the most threatening position to receive a pass. Can't help but think that if Sissoko could have started we would have been in a much better position and that if we'd any had two of Winks, Kane or Son, we would have walked this game.

Mate, I stand by every single comment I made.

Dele is a very talented but lazy footballer. It has been months since he was a dominant player in any game that he played in.

You can point the finger at some of my commentary as is your will but the passion that we played with against City was non-existent. And in the SF of such a big competition the sloppiness in our overall play was galling. Sissoko actually looked like he gave a shit, which cannot be said of plenty of his mates.

Sure we are undermanned but that was a poor overall performance.

Last night we lost at home ,JUST 0-1 , not great But Ajax beat Juve 1-3 and RM 1-4 , so we did ok
RM ALSO best Ajax at home .
We had a big game against Wham ,whilst the Dutch FA gave them a week off , apparently they’ve got a cup final this Sunday , whilst we’ve just got Bournemouth !
I’m still optimistic with Son back , and Sissoko rested at the weekend , that we can get a goal out in Dam .
Last night it kicked off big time , with the Ajax ultras there without tickets . .
So those going next week take care , I’m still undecided about going for the craic but would love to .
Keep the faith and Up The Spurs !

In the game that I watched we got overrun by some fantastic one touch passing football, brilliant movement, pace and skill in the first 30 minutes. The game then settled down a bit and in the second half I thought we played well - much better than the first half. Aside of a couple of counter attacks one of which they hit the post, there's definite hope for the second leg. If we beat them by a goal we're most probably through (except for a 1-0 then it's penalties). That's doable.

We'll need everyone at full tilt, no mistakes and give it everything. Son and Moussa to start. We started poorly got better and this isn't over. See you in Amsterdam.

Fuck off all of us? There's only a couple of old-school slagger-offers here, some with an anti-payer X agenda that has started to get right on my tits for a few weeks now, so I have this morning employed the good old ignore button, makes you feel clean and minty fresh.

Did I survive the cull mate? I know I have been critical of certain players but I wouldn’t like to think I routinely “slag” them off. Was very annoyed this morning though...possibly because I am sleep deprived due to the 3am kick off here in Western Australia.

Absolutely right. I got laughed at for saying that...If anyone has ever listened anyone from Ajax they will know they are taught to play in zones and pass and move

Really tough performance last night. Poch really mae a mess of the setup but in all honesty, what else was he to do? His options were all pretty bad. Watching that game i was mad. Not at Poch. Not at the players. Certainly not at the supporters. I thought of all the silverware this brave team SHOULD have already. Had not Levy decided to go all Grinchy McGrinchy pants and not even plop down 25 - 40 mil to bolster this squad a bit the last few windows. In the end that amount is virtually nothing compared to the stadium build. Now it looks like Eriksen will be off. We'll have all the extra money form our CL run plus the money from the new stadium and the Eriksnen sale. And the reality is we will likely do nothing with it. That stings a bit. I guess I could be wrong but history is not on our side here.

Back to the match, the extra rest played a way bigger factor than I anticipated. We look absolutely exhausted. I am very concerned if we can even get one more win in the PL to clinch top 4. How much can they play? They are not machines. In spite of all that, with Ajax's Sunday final, I think next week is a different game. They will not pass through us and we will hit them on the counter and score a few. You could see if we got a goal they were ready to wilt. I think we will do them for 3 or 4 next week and get to the finals. Which will be great, but then we are likely to get smashed by Barca and I will be sad again. Oh how the pain and suffering never ends!
