The guardian reports that Nicolò Zaniolo is another target..........who? yes, a new name, because we haven't heard about Lo celso for a day or two....

He's another midfielder, plays for Roma (along with that Pellegrini chap) 19 years old, but already 27 Serie A matches under his belt and 7 Champions League games, a few goals and assists as well. Maybe we're swapping Lamela back for a couple of these guys? Maybe it's just additional bullshit in the transfer clickbait world.

BOURNEMOUTH are braced for a £40million move from Tottenham Hotspur for centre-back Nathan Ake.
The Dutch star, 24, is a Cherries hit after an initial loan from Chelsea.

"The 22-year-old has also reportedly attracted interest from Tottenham, AC Milan and Inter Milan with Spurs and Arsenal having already contacted his agent, according to Inside Futbol.

Tottenham have joined Manchester United in keeping tabs on Norwich starlet Ben Godfrey.

Godfrey has impressed Spurs's scouts with his performances for the Canaries this season, playing a key role in Daniel Farke's side gaining promotion back to the Premier League as Championship winners.

This really would be splendid if it were true...

Would be too bad. He seems to accept his role in the squad and is versatile not to mention (seemingly) best buds with Dele. I would prefer to keep him.

Getting shot of Dier?

Yup! He’s half the player he was back in 2016/2017, there seems to be no forward momentum to his play anymore, passing it back and sideways has become symptomatic of his decline and he’s slow and laboured around the park, personally I think he’s become a Tom Huddlestone mk2. I like the guy but if Utd were to come in for him with an offer of £30 mill or somewhere around that mark, then personally i’d be tempted to move him on.

I get the argument about his versatility and his closeness to Alli and that a World Cup hangover, although he didn’t play much and his appendix surgery hampered him last season but I don’t think he had a particularly decent 2017/2018 season, if we got a decent price, i’d be sad to see him go but would kind of understand. Bottom line for me, is that there are a number of other players we need to shift before him but just saying that if the right offer came in for him, then i’d be tempted to sell. Then again a decent break and a full pre season and he might be back to his best next season and i’d look a right cunt!!

My only argument against would be depth.... its fucking killed us in recent years, but overall I agree.

I'd say give skip his squad number and allow him to fight and prove his value to the side.

As for Dele...... again not the player he once was. Great on his game, but they've been few too many this season. Played out of position, maybe. But top level players still find a way to effect the game. Too many times he has been a passenger while we slip away to a shitty draw or defeat.

For me maybe he has peaked? Maybe he has become a top 6 player who has the occasional worldie game or goal. Is he world class, not by a fucking long shot, but then I suppose the same argument could be wagered at all of the squad.

We do great things with good players and collectively bring them all up a notch.

I dont know, but Dele isnt what he promised to be at the minute.

£30m is peanuts these days. i would need at least £50m to make me think about it.
I don't disagree with your statements about him, by the way, I just don't think we will do any better through transfers and keeping squad depth.

I think with both Dele and Dier neither had a great season, Dier lots of bad luck and Dele was a match winner but only in fits and starts. Was carrying that busted hand for the end of the campaign.

I don’t know what it was or why, but we seemed tired, or just generally lethargic for much of last season, which was a bit of a weird one. Wembley I think took the wind out of everyone’s sails, then we had to contend with continuous injuries, all after a World Cup and buggered pre season and no new faces.

Whilst this sounds like a long list of excuses I think in combination they all took their toll. As such we did incredibly well to finish top 4 and amazingly reach the CL final. There will however be no room for such excuses next season.

We’ll see, for now I’m happy to give the team some leeway, by end of October we’ll know.
