Alasdair Gold said earlier that the door to Poch coming home is firmly closed now so I imagine all that’s holding up Conte being announced is the need to conclude talks with Paratici.

The language of this situation has changed overnight to Conte being “tempted” by the job rather than being on the point of being announced.

Jobs for Mason and King? That's the most charitable explanation I can think of, and a way to build for the future, as the best-case scenario for a Conte appointment is two years.

Times like these really remind me of how mad the Supporters Trust make me. They have actual access to the man himself through their regular meetings and yet nobody has ever had the balls to call him out on his apparent "love" for the club and ask him why, if he supposedly loves the club so much, has he spent years fucking managers over with cheap punts and second choice garbage and then sacking those managers when they couldn't get a tune out of them.
And that's without calling him out on the rumours of his interference in team selection and signing players the manager clearly never wanted in the first place.
Yeah, it might end up meaning the Supporters Trust lose that access, but it would be worth it to see the cunt squirm.

Conte usually likes to come with a backroom team of around seven. This includes assistants, coaches e.t.c. so he's laid this out as a requirement to Levy.
Levy has, in turn, "advised" him that he wants to keep Ryan Mason and Ledley King on board as coaches so he will have to limit his team to no more than four because he only has a "budget" for six backroom staff for any manager.
Now this won't be because Levy has some kind of plan of succession in mind so that either Mason or The King can learn from Conte and step up to the big chair in a few years down the line, oh no. It'll be nothing more than him thinking that if he sacks both of them to make way for Conte's team that it'll make him look even worse in the eyes of the supporters.
So this whole thing could be being held up because Levy wants to save face.
If Conte falls through and we end up with someone like Potter or Scott Parker, just wait and see if Mason and King are retained as coaches ..
