Yeah, I was right about Lo Celso! Fucking blimey, this is a quality showing from our boys, we haven’t just been knocking on their door, we’ve been battering it…..…..oh fuck, surely offside? Will VAR screw us?…………3 hours later………wtf, it’s clearly offside……….now they’ve drawn the lines……….at fucking last.

Matty Cash can go and fuck himself. Cunt.

Now Rodrigo is done for the day.
He’ll be sorted out at some point, especially with Hojbjerg coming on.

Just hope there’s no major damage or an aggravation on his injury

Bryan Gil is a beautiful footballer.

This has been nothing short of fabulous so far.

Fucking great half of football, we just need to convert a few more of our chances in the 2nd half and the points are ours. Maybe the ref can donate another card to Cash and stop awarding fouls every time they fall over, that would be nice. No complaints about any of our players, they’ve all given 100% and some of the football has been beautifu.

Gil can be quite the live wire & has made himself available for the ball but 98% of his passes have been backwards. Ange can't be too happy with that. Shitty end to an enjoyable & encouraging half.

What a kick in the cunt at the end... we'll have to outscore these pricks I think...

There's more gaols in this for us and I think Cash is a Red waiting to happen...

Great half, COYS.

This will be painful until we get some of our players back from injury. At least the football is enjoyable to watch

I know we are light on personnel but surely we’d be better off leaving Gil out there rather than bringing Skipp on?

Is Sonny trying for the record number of offside goals? He’s been unlucky, on a good day he’d have got a hat-trick.

Better team lost today. Can’t fault the effort of the players or coaching staff.

That was unlucky, if we’d put away one of our many chances in the first half we would have mullahed them. Fighting until the end, every player gave it everything. Nobody thought we had a chance with all our missing players, unlucky chaps.

I thought Poro was class overall...

It's evident that Big Shorts is not a CB, but he was asked to do it and it was what it was...

Injuries are fucking crippling us. I seriously hope the club are looking at what the fuck is going on and looking at getting busy as fuck, to add some quality depth or at what the U21's/Youth team can offer in terms of quality replacements.

And Roy Keane can go fuck himself the prick. He is a fucking dinosaur shit cunt shock jock at best... cunt.

18 shots on goal, forced Martinez into six saves, hit the woodwork twice, had three 'goals' ruled out for offside.

Thats with are second string, we will back fine in Jan

Negative Nancy alert!! Ok, it's exciting football and the effort is off the charts. But at some point Ange has to manage the game. He has not mpressed so far when it comes to halftime adjustments. Unai changed gears and we didn't do much of anything differently. Yeah injuries and and all but that's part of the game. I hope Ange learns from this stretch because we are not going to overwhelm teams every week. A bit of nous was required the last two matches and it just wasn't there. Can't say it wasn't fun though!

Most of the opinion I've seen, including mine, tends to be the same. With a bit of luck and better finishing today we'd have battered them. We all knew the squad depth needed major surgery and that's been exposed by this run of injuries and suspensions.

A lot of people saying "Ooooh, 3 defeats in a row and Man City next". So what ?. City are going to beat most sides in Europe but I bet we'll go down swinging if we do end up losing.

We need at least two more windows to sort out the squad and get some decent depth but we've certainly seen enough of Angeball so far to know that if he's properly backed then the wait for a trophy really isn't going to be that much longer.

34 minutes in it was an entertaining open game of football. Sonny missing sitters like he was in amateur preseason training. Us giving up possession in behind and it could have been 2-2 again like all of our games at home this season. Kulu doing really well. Lo Celso, Gil, and Johnson adapting to not being regular first teamers. Even Emerson Royal doing okay at centre-back. And finally, VAR being used properly, albeit it took a couple of minutes longer.

Sonny's offside goal on 43 mins was reminiscent of Chelsea to make it 2-0 again, and we gave away the lead at the end of first half stoppage time, 51 minutes, Davies behind the man he is marking on a set piece. So 1-1 at half-time, not the end of the world, although a terrible time for them to score. A tad unfortunate, but we have seen similar throwing the lead against Chelsea, etcetera.

53 mins in the second half, Kulu had a great chance for 2-1, was playing well in my opinion and just didn't score. We were creating the best opportunities but couldn't finish and again had another chance for Johnson but he was offside. 60 mins in and it is 1-2 to Villa, in an open-ended game where we are creating the better chances. But we are offside more, and not finishing as well as Watkins, which does need addressed.

66 mins in, we were still creating chances with full-backs and Davies missed an open-header that could have made up for his earlier mistake. Vicario keeps us in it again saving a Villa free-kick. We don't deserve to be winning this game now, in my opinion, but don't deserve to be losing it either. 72 minutes, more chances, and we just need our finishing to be better from the front four in particular. They are not the only ones to spurn chances though. Even Udogie missed early doors on his weaker foot. But basically, the Villa goalkeeper was also doing well, unfortunately, and they were having a good and fortunate away game as the team slightly lower in the table.

94 minutes. We still can't finish. It's a shame. Probably missed Maddison. I also feel this result is what could have happened against United or Liverpool if the other team finished better than us and had VAR on their side. It is hard to judge overly critically because of all of the injuries we have and the improved style of play. It's entirely possible we sneak another victory with 11-16 fully fit first team players, or the players we do have finishing better.

If I was Matty Cash, I'd be looking at the face on Romero and finding a reason not to play in the return leg next year.

Fuck it, that really sucks.

You know what though, for the majority of that game i had a smile on my face. Even with the injuries we've got to key personnel, we still massively stretched, and out played for large chunks, a good Villa side. So good to have Benta back, just hope it's not a serious injury, that would be so unfair! Porro was brilliant, Gil's potentially an uncut diamond, pretty raw, needs some refining. Give Ange the money he needs Daniel, and we're definitely onto something here.

I'm not one to dwell on "deserves" in football, because it doesn't really matter, but fuck, we should've gotten something from that one.
