read this little gem...

Wembley's bigger pitch makes manager Mauricio Pochettino's trademark intense pressing style more difficult to implement.

The Wembley playing surface is 7,245m², compared with the 6,700m² of White Hart Lane - a difference of 545m², more than the area of two tennis courts.

"Why don't they just paint some new lines on the pitch so it has the same dimensions as at 'the lane'?"
Because the FA,UEFA have regulation pitch sizes now, they can only be less if the stadium physically makes it so,and any new stadium has to comply.

"the minimum stadium capacity for category 4 stadia is 8,000"

"minimum field of play for category 3/4 stadia is 105 m long, 68 m wide"

Still, by what they seem to be saying in their regulations, tehLane qualifies...?

I'm thinking I'm missing something here on my digging >.<

but then...

"Spurs had to relocate to meet UEFA requirements to play in the group stage of the competition, for which they qualified with last season's third place finish in the Premier League."

I don;t get it? is it a safety thing or...?
Ok,the moving to wembley was alledgedly cos we didnt meet UEFA criteia for access, media, though could be a smokescreen for increased capacity as this announcement was made by the club not uefa.
The pitch size thing I looked and its a premier league wish to standardize pitch dimensions at 105 m x 68m. Ten clubs currently meet the regulation size.

Maybe I jumped the gun at calling it uefa regs

hmmm....

Martin Cloake said:
“Most fans would have loved to see White Hart Lane off in style with Champions League glory nights at our own stadium, but the fact is we can’t play our games at White Hart Lane. That’s down to UEFA regulations on access, media rights and safety, as well as the fact that reduced capacity inside the ground means that even ensuring over 21,000 season ticket holders could watch games would be a challenge.

what access, media rights and safety isn't being met in the Premier League? What things is Cloake specifically talking aboot?

The only time I've seen us 'press' effectively this year was against City, not sure whats happened to that game plan recently.

Probably time to get over this Wembley thing and stop looking for excuses, we just didn't play very well against Leverkusen, and gifted Monaco a win, whilst not taking our own chances. It happens.

Just be up for the Arsenal game, whatever it takes, then West Ham and Chelsea. We're only 3 points off the top of the league FFS.

The pitch size excuse is a load of bollocks tbh. It it was the case that the players can't adapt to a bigger pitch then they would also struggle at the grounds with bigger pitches on that Daily Fail list. As it is, we won at Villa, City, Southampton and Sunderland and drew at Arsenal, Swansea and West Brom. The 2 defeats at Old Trafford and St James Park had their own reasons, nothing to do with pitch size and in any case we have won at both grounds in recent times. In fact, with our pitch being the smallest currently(I assume Stoke have now increased the size) then any away match would be on a bigger pitch. It;s a crap excuse. One of many.

Yeah! I read somewhere that we have been shite since the City game, I don't agree, we have had some bad luck and faced some keepers having worldies, yes we might have been a bitt poo last night but that was a cup game and has no relevance to the league. If we can get 5 or more points from those 3 games I will be chuffed, though I am sure there will be folks who will be demanding all 9. It's all still a learning experience for the players and the Poch, last night should have taught him a valuable lesson I reckon, fuck this pretty playing out from the back stuff when you are playing an 'ugly' team, just get the fucker cleared, Toby is good at that, the doesn't fuck around if the situation is iffy he belts the fucker into row z. We need to work on our 'ugly' game, grind out some nasty, dirty one goal wins, the beautiful stuff can be played against the top teams and we have shown we can do that very nicely.

The new Wembley while not an excuse for how we played is poxy for trying to create an atmosphere.that at the lane were right on top of the pitch so the noise comes through it just doesn't at Wembley the noise flies out of the kip

We haven't been wholly shit since Citeh but we have not employed the pressing high tempo game we trademarked last year either before or since.

And to be honest it's fucking pissing me off.

It's what we built this team on. not stars, no razzle, dazzle or anything Spursy...

Just simple hard graft and fast attacking prowess.

I want to see that collective fight and all for one attitude again.

Have to say that game killed me a bit inside. So much travel for that performance. Then I missed my flight home while royally hungover!!

Wembley is a bit shit. Needs a better home end implemented. Think the best (loudest) supporters are spread out around the ground. Hardly any songs manage to stick for a whole rendition.

And red seats.... Don't get me started on those bloody red seats!!!

Onto the next.... I'm expecting big things!!
