Hard fought win but a win none the less. Hugo trying his best to be the next Gomes, Rose and Walker excellent, again, Vertonghen admirably stepping up when Toby is missing, again, Winks getting better and more assured with every game, Wanyama and Dembele together, meh, Alli, despite the goal, not picked up where he left off but hey, he's younger than Winks ffs so plenty of slack can be given, Eriksen, massively upped his performances in the last few games, finally, Harry Kane, plays his part, but struggling a bit for chances. I'd prefer we didn't have 2 strikers who couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo so hopefully a good weeks rest and Harry will come back with some Xmas goals.
Considering we've barely got out of second gear all season I'd say we're chugging along rather nicely. Well placed to push on.

A season ticket holder who was there has just texted me to say that Danny Rose performance was simply outstanding on every level. A fantastically improved player in every aspect of his game and confidence.

I haven't seen the game but that's lavish praise that I can understand being 100% right.

Great result today. Only problem I had was for some reason although we were battering them I always felt they would score first although even when they did knew we would win which was handy.

This short passing from Hugo needs to stop when it's clear it isn't leading anywhere. For these smaller teams to stop us they are always gonna lunge forward when we are back with the keeper hoping to stop us from the back. For some reason Hugo still passes out then gets a return ball, then passes out again and then a defender hoofs it. Why not just hoof it in the first place!

Walker was shaken at the back early on but Fuck me he was powerful going forward. Danny rose was unreal today. We have two of the best full back in the world for sure.

Very good result, some good football and an easily deserved win. Onto the next!!

Even before the goal, which was one of the best of the season, he was MOTM by a country mile.

This Hugoism and always playing out from the back worries me a lot. Everyone and his dog knows we are going to faff about at the back and they will attack like herds of wasps and we will get done up the back door. This would not be such a problem if we were scoring loads of goals but with tight one goal victories and draws it could mean the difference between victory and arseache. Boot the fucker out of the ground when we are being pressured by herds of wasps and those pesky varmints can't catch us napping innit?

Herds of wasps.. I like it!! But yeah I have no issue playing from the back, but there is a time and place. As you point out it often leads to a troubling couple of minutes around our area which is uncalled for. I think Toby is best at the long or short decision making in the team and it's something Hugo needs to adopt unless of course the gaffer has told him to not play long cause he boots it out alot lol.

Anywho good result against a stubborn burnley so all's well!

I would have had walker up there for motm if it wasnt for a couple of brain farts, redemption was his assist for the equaliser.
Without sounding harsh I thought Alli still isnt himself and wanyama did ok but he isnt as solid as dier as DM or as strong with possesion as dembele. As for Kane, guess he is a two season wonder, though I am sure he will still bag around 20 goals this season, its just when he starts that run of goals, you`re right he is snatching a bit and obviously is a marked man now.
We got strong this time last year, and its happening again!!

Yep, spot on mate. Toby knows when to boot the fucker into the middle of next week. I think Hugo is probably the best shot stopper in the World, but his kicking, passing and decision making need improvement. I could be wrong but he seems to kick the ball out of play more than any other keeper in the PL, and sometimes I go 'oh what the fuck Hugo' - in fact I blame him and the 'playing out from the back' for my health wobbly in January, they were faffing about like faffers against Palace when I went totally doolally mental, shouting 'clear the bastrad you fuckers, just clear it' and started feeling the pains in the chest, I wonder if I can sue Levy?

Yes his kicking out to the wide men is brutal to watch sometimes!

I think you would have a case! Levi might even settle out if court to keep it quiet!

I don't watch much football outside of the PL tbh but I would be amazed if there is a better fullback combination playing the game than Rose and Walker in Europe at the moment. Absolutely on top of their game. Danny was superb yesterday and Kyle wasn't too far behind imo. We didn't loose too much either when Davies replaced Rose, he got wired in straight away. All good

I really like Winks as well atm. Never dwells on the ball and always playing with his head up. I think Alli just needs to simplify his game, leave the tricks and flicks and just make his runs. Also, his finishing needs work. But still he's got time on his hands. Sissoko was much better too yesterday.

Totally agree about Alli, its like he is trying too hard needs to get back to basics and cut out the street skillz soccer stuff.
Winks reminds me a lot in style to Carrick, and he didnt turn out to be a bad player, infact very underrated as he quietly goes about his game.

Really will be interesting to see how he develops, I think he has a few more goals in him, seems like he has a good shot with both feet.

The game was exactly as I expected, thought we should win but it would be a niggly, annoying affair for all those with a Spurs cap on their head. I think that's just me though, we could be 4-0 up with 10 minutes to go and I will still be expecting something to go wrong

I agree with Dele, if I could get my hands on him I would sit him down and run him through the tapes of some games last season. Unless I have forgotten (games and seasons do tend to run together sometimes in my head),he wasn't show boating as much in every game. He's actually making things very difficult for himself as the media picks up on the show boating, nut meg, flicks and step overs- and then hammer him for missing an easy chance, or not spotting a better pass etc. He's young (and many do forget his actual age) and even though they think they have all the answers (as we all know, we all did it),he just needs to be pulled aside and guided in the right direction. I have no doubt that Poch and co will be doing this, hopefully.....and if not, I volunteer for that job :)

The Hugo faffing about at the back thing, yeah, that is really getting on my nerves right now. It reminds me of the whole John Stones thing, constantly playing himself into trouble. You can see one day that it will catch us out big time and with games involving us having such small margins at the moment, I would hate for that to cost us points- but more worryingly damage the players confidence of playing out from the back. Nothing wrong with row Z when you need it. Trick is learning when to play it out or not.

Danny Rose is quickly establishing himself for player of the season IMO. He's steadily been improving since Poch arrived and this season he's just hit another gear and is playing phenomenally. Long may it continue. He's a decent guy and he deserves the plaudits he's getting at the moment. Oh and Man City can p!ss right off if they think we're gonna sell Danny to them . Since I'm on a praising kick, another shout out to super Jan Vertoghen. He's been quietly holding that back line together without even so much as a squeak and has also been fantastic this season. Oh yeah, great to see Eriksen finding some form as well, he's been hammered all over the place (especially by the fans) and I think some of the flak he's received has been unjust because nobody else was playing brilliant in the team up front or in midfield either.
