Levy tried to pass Gedson off as Bruno, thinking he’d fool us.

What a cunt.

Just posted a tweet thanking the spurs fans and wishing the best for the rest of the season. Interesting to see how he gets on.

Villarreal plays tommorow if he’s available.

I’ve always rated him. He’s been putting up stats like that on a regular basis since he’s been out on loan.

I do hope Ange can find a place for him.

Na, don't want him. He has some talent, but always injured, has the crap "Argentina before club" attitude, and was apparently not well liked by teammates when he was here. Gio can piss off to Villa for 50 million

Apparently Ange has persuaded him to stay. Told him he's a perfect fit for his system and that he wants to use him so he's staying. Quite happy with that.

Oh Lo Celso! Yeah, I love him, I thought you meant Lo Chelso [Cyril skulks quietly to corner].

Said this a few weeks ago he has found his rhythm in Angels system finally... Apart from his sub appearance against Brighton where he looked like he was hungover to fuck and could not be arsed...

I think he is definitely capable of making things happen and that the creativity we need especially if Madders isn't on it... I'd love to see how they worked together because Madders works hard too (GLC not so much).

Provides the match, and tournament, winning assist for Argentina in the Copa America final but I bet you a pound he won’t start on opening day in a few weeks and we’ll probably sell him if we get a decent offer.

Yeah, I was thrilled for him, but it does seem that it's time for him to move on from the club.

Romero played a blinder too, and Bentancur (despite the incident) had a very good tournament for the Uruguayans, both coming off the bench and starting.

We've had an incredible selection of CB's over the years if you think about it. From the King through to Jan and Toby and now Romero and VDV. Rather randomly, Richard Gough also springs to mind as someone who was pretty decent at the back for us as well.

If (and when) Lo Celso does move, I just hope it's abroad somewhere. I don't want him going to somewhere like Chelsea or Villa and elevating them over us.

He's been successful in Spain, I'd think that's where he'd want to go.

Lo Celso
though has struggled to justify the hefty fee Tottenham paid for him back in 2019 and once again the midfielder has been linked with exiting the club this summer. Ardiles believes the reason the 28-year-old hasn't made the same impact as Romero is simple.

"Adaptation. He has found it very difficult to adapt," he said. "Again, he's playing very well for Argentina. He's not, you know, one of the top 11 and he doesn't start the games, but he has been instrumental. I mean with the goal for Argentina in the Copa America final against Colombia, his assist, it was magnificent.

"So he has been playing 10 minutes, 20 minutes and so on. So he needs, for a player to adapt he needs more, more time, but on the other hand, nobody is going to give you time just because 'hello you are Giovani Lo Celso you are going to play 90 minutes'.

"No, no, no, no, no. You have got to earn it. Basically, I believe that he is very suited to Argentinian football, for continental football I would say. In England it's taking quite a period of time."

old news, but to tie up loose ends

We have reached agreement with Real Betis for the transfer of Giovani Lo Celso.

The move marks a return to the La Liga side for Gio, who joined us from Los Verdiblancos in August, 2019, initially on loan before completing a permanent transfer in January, 2020.

The playmaker marked his first start for the Club with a goal in a 4-0 win against Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League in November, 2019 and reached his Spurs century of appearances against Luton Town in March, 2024. He went on to make 108 appearances for us in all competitions, scoring 10 goals.

Internationally, Gio was part of the Argentina squad that lifted the Copa America in 2021 and defended their title this summer. Unfortunately, he missed out on La Albiceleste’s World Cup win in 2022 due to injury.
