I planned my annual pilgrimage to the other side of the fucking world this year to coincide with Spurs playing at least a couple of times at the new ground. My airfares and accommodation have already been booked and paid for and cannot be changed. If I have to go to Wembley again this season to watch them I will be fucking livid.

(Yes, I know how utterly spoiled that comes across as when far too many people do not have the luxury of taking an annual holiday)

Its not entitled or spoiled,its what you rightly should have expected from what you have been told all along.It is a bit weird that in this age of consumer protection football fans suffer at the hands of their clubs and tv companies regards fixtures.It is such an in demand fashionable product it seems fans can be treated carte blanch with disregard.Heaven forbid you dont live within striking distance of your ground and have to book flights/trains/coaches/hotels which is hugely cheaper when booked in advance.Its a lot of fans in this situation,i know season ticket holders from all over england,ireland the fact you can be forced at short notice to have to watch your team on anything from friday evening saturday midday til 8pm now,sunday and even monday night its amazing the level of loyalty fans have shown over recent years.

When I come back I have the luxury of doing it in 2-4 weeks trips so a game moved doesnt effect me so much,but I feel for fans that are messed about,when we had the NLD shin dig last year most paddys going booked flights that landed very early saturday incase its was a midday kick off (it was indeed then) and booked returns late sunday night incase it was scheduled for then,even then it could have been a friday or monday game!!Peoples love and loyalty are amazing,and it seems a bit taken for granted.Which is why this is so disappointing,it was obvious fans from all over the world would bust a gut to be at the 1st game,spurs should have appreciated this when the overly ambitious schedule was announced.

A really interesting article on the BBC site, showing that 11/20 clubs in the Premier league would have made a profit by charging fuck bleeding all for tickets. Tottenham are of course one of those clubs.

Football is turning into a 'experience' like Alton Towers or the London Dungeon, something people go to once a year on when they are on holiday in London. The fuckwits killed the pound back in 2016 and so it gets more and more attractive to foreign tourists, their funny foreign money buys lots of those quaint little pounds these days - and the price of couscous rises for the poor Brits, oh the horror! The greed of the owners is killing the game, these corporations are not clubs any more. It's fucked up to think that I will probably never see Spurs play live again - unless they get Valencia in the CL, then I might, dunno, plans are like elephants they never do what you expect them to.

I expect many folks who paid for those extortionately priced season tickets found it difficult enough this season, with the fucked up abortion that is happening in March next year they will probably find it gets harder and harder as prices and taxes rise and jobs disappear. Fine dining, executive clubs, corporate bollocks, tourist packages, cauliflower and fucking broccoli fucking pies - it ain't the football I used to love. I suppose local lower level football will benefit, but even their prices are fucked up, the next home match at my local ground is Yeovil vs Oldham, 22 fucking quid for a ticket, add in a few pints and a pie and you're looking at £50, if I take a couple of the grand-brats then it's a ton, errr fuck that for a game of Bobby Soldados.

Football is dead, long live the soccer experience.

Unfortunately I have been sunk by the promise of the Liverpool opening game. Should have known better really as it's been a cluster Fuck waiting to happen, but due to prices id booked flights, accommodation and the bloody train x2 as my brother is out of work at the minute, but due to @Don Diaz unfortunate circumstance I was able to get my bro a seat which was obviously a big deal to him. Once in a lifetime opportunity situation!!

To be honest the money isn't the issue for me I just hate lies and when people aren't upfront about issues.

I do believe football as a whole does seem to still see football as a local sport, but the reality is alot of people will have been way more let down than myself by this situation, as someone rightly pointed out potential new starts in work.

An obvious situation really when watching the build, but I couldn't take the risk of everything doubling in price.

Speaking to @Don Diaz about it what annoys me most is they keep saying about safety, and the general public latch on to that. Amount of posts I read on facebook of folk who most likely have never been to a game were telling people like myself to stop whining about the delay as its better that it takes longer and is safe... One said I'd rather take my kids there when it's built safe... It's not like the stand is going to fall down for Fuck sake. The reason it's unsafe is because there are still big fucking diggers on site, with cranes and exposed wiring, because it's not finished, not cause someone with a clip board dandered around and was pointing at the odd sharp edge!

Still trying to work out the logistics of getting to the away games at Everton and Cardiff on 22/12 and 1/1 respectively but will get to the two festive home games, wherever they end up being played. It does sound very much like we are about 50/50 to be in the new ground before Christmas.

Mace faces bill running into millions on Tottenham stadium



The financial penalty faced by Mace for late delivery of the Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium will run into millions of pounds, according to a leading construction lawyer.

The news comes as several site workers told Building the 62,000-capacity stadium - where there are swathes of missing panelling showing how much work is still left to be done - will not be finished before Christmas.

One said: “they’ll be lucky to have it finished before Christmas.” But workers have been given strict instructions not to speak about the problems with one telling Building: “We were told yesterday [Tuesday] not to say anything or we could lose our jobs.”

If the stadium handover takes place in January then Mace, which posted a £23m pre-tax profit last year, could be liable to have millions of pounds deducted from its fees by Spurs.

The Premier League club can take liquidated damages from Mace for the period of time between the agreed deadline and the actual handover date, although the amount will be reduced if games are able to be played prior to completion.

The stadium has an official project cost of £400m, but the real cost is thought to have spiralled to at least £750m.

On Monday evening Spurs announced that it will play its home games against Liverpool and Cardiff City in September at Wembley Stadium because problems with “safety critical features” mean the scheduled test games at the end of August can no longer take place.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy admitted that a scheduled game against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City 11 weeks away at the end of October may also have to be played at Wembley.

Mace’s liquidated damages will have been agreed in its contract with Spurs, and are usually calculated on a weekly basis to allow the client to recoup losses caused by project delays. In Spurs’ case it will be looking to recoup lost income on ticket sales for Premier League matches and an NFL match, as well as recovering additional rent paid to the Football Association for Wembley.

Ian Yule, construction partner at law firm Shoosmiths, said the liquidated damages “could well be a few million,” pointing out that Spurs “will have roughly known their fixture dates, meaning that would have been factored into the liquidated damages agreement”.

According to workers at the Tottenham site, which still has five tower cranes, no grass on the pitch and several visibly incomplete sections, they are working 12-hour shifts and have been banned from taking photographs – with strict penalties for those found posting snaps online.

Mace has not said what is keeping its flagship project weeks behind schedule, and only issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon, more than 12 hours after Spurs was admitted that the scheme was going to be late. Neither Mace nor Spurs have spelled out what the “safety critical issues” at the site are.

In a further statement on Tuesday, Spurs said it was “hugely frustrated” with the delays. The club admitted “delays are common, certainly for builds of this size and complexity” but did not give fans an idea about when they can take their seats at the new ground.

Among the key questions surrounding the scheme are how much of the job remains to be finished, exactly how much Mace will have to fork out to get it completed and what its final bill will be to cover income lost by Spurs which is now heading to Wembley instead.

Mace declined to provide any comment on how much the delays will cost, when the stadium will be finished, or details of why it bust its deadline beyond issues with “safety critical systems.”

In its statement on Tuesday the firm said it was “obviously frustrating” the delays had occurred.

3pm or later kickoff would give me a shout. Cardiff away on New Year's Day is the other away game that I will look at but will be looking for 2 tickets on 26/12 and 4 if I can get them on 29/12 at home. Lack of comms from the club besides selling 3rd kit,fulham tickets is shocking.I dont remember a more up in the time for us except when scholar announced we were bankrupt in 91 and tried to find a buyer.Its so so poor from those in control at the club.They promised start of the season,then mid sept,now its end of october earliest,fixtures only came out in june how in 6 weeks can you announce a delay at least twice as long?and thats if that actually happens,which I take with a huge truck load of salt.Nevermind Levy got his bridge built to the stadium ok,nfl pitch ok,how about the 60k spurs fans buying the seats,any chance their bit will be done??

Honestly mate - NFI although United on 12th January would have a nice symmetry about it following last game at Old WHL. I'd be Ok with that, but it would be even better if we had some sort communication from the club, that wasn't asking for more money for something. In my opinion what has been done here is just very sneaky by Levy. He didn't want a full season at Wembley so told the FA it would be ready. Now that it isn't he can sit back and blame Mace for the delays and the FA are happy to lap that up and offer up Wembley. Means the new stadium won't go unused for the whole season.... Probably!!!

Only issue with that scenario is us pillocks that bought STs are openly being screwed by the club they put their heart and soul in to.

Communication would be great, but I'm not expecting a big change on that front. I've noticed recently that where there is bad news on instagram, facebook, twitter that after the Spurs feeds are bombarded with goals, celebrations, poch doing the Alli, anything that pushes that bad press out of the way. It's embarrassing.

The kits are pretty shit. I know you get the die hard shirt buyers that don't care, but style is a huge thing these days and..... Well.... These kits are not very stylish.

Much being reported the city game is mon 29th at wembley,so we are in to november then.

Lets be clear i am not disappointed at the stadium,not even how long it is taking,just the mismanagement of dealing with supporters,its not just a few weeks more and more that our " customer " support is taken for granted.

Isnt the timeline from the club something like this,and I dont ever recall in club statements words like probably,hopefully,possibly,perhaps?
At a fans forum with levy and Poch,not sure the month Levy said definately we will be in the new stadium start of next season.Season ticket and memberships priced advertised and sold and paid for or agreed terms in STHs case before end of May,still all home games at NWHL new season.
Fixtures released mid june,a slight back track,when we announced Fulham only at wembley and help from PL with more away games to allow 15th sept 12.30pm kick off at NWHL vs Liverpool.Cup ticketing autopay package announced a few days prior to 13th august when The Sun of all sources broke the story of significant delays and problems.Alledgedly a hasty board meeting was called and early evening same day the club announced the delay,and a further 2 league games at wembley confirmed,liverpool&Cardiff,this statement made no comment or commitment to a 1st fixture or likely date,just a grovelling apology to the NFL and less so to the supporters.
So mid june we confirmed mid sept,thats 3 months,after less than 2 months we confirmed a delay of at least almost another 2 months.I know as everyone points out its a huge project,complex,biggest private build in europe they say,but only Levy and the board told us august,then sept,now possibly??Thats a significant % timewise to be wrong,and still we hear more from the press than the club about fixtures.
They may not know,but they could at least be clear about not knowing,rumours abound that uefa insist on all group games at one staidum (they dont btw or so the press report) why isnt the club telling us this info?now we will play a possible home league cup tie away or at a neutral ground??neutral ground FFS what the hell does that mean,we are making it up as we are going along it seems.

And rumours about what this significant safety issue is,maybe they cant say for legal reasons about liability with contractors,but time rolls on,and nothing is told to fans except spamming emails about the new 3rd kit,invite all your friends and bring a dog to fulham tickets are on sale,poch can do the dele eye thing,jesus I am sick of deleting emails from THFC,and not one email about the stadium timeline,but then again I am only a pleb member and not worthy to be informed.Good job I follow them on twitter,click the link for urgent ticketing update but remember to dismiss the pop up ad for spurs shop before you can enter the site and read any info.
