We could wipe the slate clean, give him the benefit of the doubt and be optimistic that this will be his breakthrough season. Like you say Yeeharr.

I am surprised Sonny is not starting. Is he going the Asian Games or what? Its all a bit vague. They start next week so I'd a thunk we'd try and get the most out of him today. I thought I was being well clever ditching Pogba out of my FF team and replacing him with Sonny, like they say in the other place, that's my season over.

Green shirts. I am not amused. Maybe they are to promote the fucking Broccoli pies. I don't like green shirts, though I am actually wearing one - an omen?

think the modern bollarky name for green is Teale, apparently more bollarky comments are its a nod to the old charrington brewery sign in N17 from years by when people without beards and old tshirts drank soapy dishwater foamy piss disguised as beer.

Interesting first half, lot of early season rustiness from a squad team, but still winning and when Harry warms up might get a few more. Would be nice if Lucas scored. Keep going lads

Well that was a tough old watch! Serge being his normal chaotic self, can’t wait to see Tripps back. Harry had nothing to feed off but his hold up play yet again was brilliant. Still really worried about the middle of the park, they just walked thru that area so often and with that in mind, I do love Dembele, there’s just a calmness about me when he’s on the pitch.

This is gonna be one long tough season!

I think when you factor in post World Cup blues/fatigue etc. It was a really good win, we’d run out of juice and held on. Good stuff

Aurier , great, cross for the 2nd goal , but on at least 2 occasions he left a bigger gap for the Newcssstle than any chasm in the galaxy , it was criminal , against a better team , we’d have conceded both

I totally get that mate and yeah given everything that’s gone on over the last few months and the general unrest over the lack of signings, it was a really hardfought 3 points at a tough place to get a result, huge respect to the boys but I am a little concerned about that centre mid area going forward but fuck it, i’m not gonna worry myself too much and enjoy a well earnt 3 points.

As we’ve all said mate, it’s not a nice feeling slagging off one of our own but I hope that he goes to bed and wakes up every morning thanking his lucky stars that he gets to play with this talented bunch. What he’s still doing at our club is beyond me. There must be 50/100 midfielders around Europe, that would cost no more than £10-15 mill that could do a far better job than him. Oh well in Poch we trust.

I really wish something would just click,if that volley had gone in or a 9/10 performance and it all rolled onwards,it does happen,as I said Bale was awful for a spell,i kind of feel sorry about it and I didnt have these feelings about one of our players.But.......
I do

The fact that he does work very hard (unlike Paulinho) makes me feel a bit bad about it. At the barcodes he had the reputation of only stepping up to play against the big clubs, went missing against the teams around them in the table. He always gives it his all, but his lack of technical ability really stands out in our squad.

I thought Sissoko had a great first 3 minutes, blistering pace, earned us a free kick in a dangerous area, ........then apart from one two nice touches in the other 87 minutes he wasn't quite so good. Maybe he was tired from watching the World Cup?

I dunno, Sissoko wasn’t our worst player today. No names mentioned, Serge, but how many times did you see players telling you where you are supposed to be?

On the other hand I thought Sanchez and Dier were excellent, and Harry, Dele and Christian saved themselves for bigger games. Very happy for Luke Amos too, finding his feet after a few rough minutes of PL introduction.

It’s a good away win and warmup exercise.

Dier echoed my thoughts... "sort it the fuck out and stop fucking about. ".

Serge.... I was ready to forget and forgive.... Sisoko.... the same.

Yep great win and Dele looked great but this could be a fucking long year.

I really don't want to be pessimistic, so I won't.

I can’t say i’ve watched his career but from what I remember of his days at Newcastle, his main strength was causing havoc running at defences with wide open spaces ahead of him. He just doesn’t get that with us, teams generally sit back against us, so tactically it’s about picking apart defences with a bit of skill or a beautifully weighted pass and he doesn’t really possess either of those. Also, his fee didn’t help him, think it put a lot of pressure on him, and he’s never really settled and very much doubt he ever will.
