Not sure how people (and its not just the dippers doing it) could argue that's not a red. Ryan Mason made an interesting point though:
Have to say I havent seen many keepers make a straight legged, studs to the throat, kung fu 3ft from the ground leap into an opponent, tbh.

I think it might not have been. Unless there is a rule that players can't go for high balls with their feet - and there isn't. Mane goes for the ball and Edderson goals for the player, there could even be a case for a red card for him for stopping a goal scoring opportunity.

Mane could hardly be blamed for going for the ball with such intent - but it was reckless with Ederson bravely rushing out and the rule is clear in support of Moss's action.

In Fifa's Laws Of The Game for 2017-18, it is stated: "Serious foul play - a tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force of brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play."

...or was Ederson reckless in rushing out and endangering himself?

There is, it's dangerous play if you challenge for a high ball like that, and the rules and FIFA directives allow for a sending off or at least a yellow in that case if there is contact/injury. I hadn't really thought about your point about Ederson, but you're right--he didn't really challenge for the ball and got the player, so maybe there's an argument that both players could have been sent off? Strange one.

Anyone remember Schumacher the German goalkeeper against France about 30 years ago? Don't think he even got booked and he nearly killed the French forward.....

Apologies for being an old git, ha ha

We have to play one on Wednesday
Yes although I really meant the national teams, same applies to the club sides I guess. Bayern have Chelsea that champions League on their own pitch so they'll never be forgiven and Leverkusen can fuck off as well

Personally I think both of them should have got red yesterday, that would have been funny. I really enjoy it when any dipper gets sent off because it fuels the sense of injustice they always feel ups there and they go all mental as fuck. Although I don't think it was a red, I am happy with it - who isn't eh? Up until the incident I wasn't impressed with City, their defence looked pony, we will be able to break through easy peasy! Liverpool of course were pants, but hey beat the scum 4-0 so .... by the power of maths the scum must be even less than pants? OK, so they beat Bournemouth yesterday, but sadly the Dorset boys are going commando this season - not even any pants.

I wonder if the numpties have noticed the miracle that has happened. After the loss to the chavs our season was over, we were destined for 6th or worse, United were going to run away with that title - for us the season was over. Yet, somehow we are now just one win away from the top, so maybe, just maybe it will be worth playing the remaining 34 games?

One of the things I think should be discussed about yesterdays's game is that Rooney proved once again what a total cunt he is. He is a disgusting creature in his personal life and a nasty, petulant thug on the pitch. How the fuck did he not get a red card yesterday? I thought the ref was poor, but I always think that.

If Dele had come into Rooney like that, whipping his leg through, I think we all know what would've happened. Not to mention Rooney was absolute shit for the entirety of that game, as was Siggy. Our own Eric Dier had a bit to do with that.

Tell the truth, I never really noticed Siggy at all, he was neutralised. Rooney as always gets nasty when he is losing and gets away with too much.

He is a cheap nasty little ignorant thug. Football unfortunately is full of them, Charlie Adam, Joey Barton, Dennis Wise, John Terry etc. Rooney is right up there on the 'very thick' scale. Now he cannot handle not being quick enough or good enough to play in the Premier League. You've had your time Wayne see ya

Holy crap
I didn't realize that he was also cut so severely.

People saying that Mane was playing the ball but didn't see Ederson.
To those I ask: do you always bring the ball down in such a manner from that height when no one else is around?
No.
Only when you are trying to beat someone to the ball. Otherwise, you let the ball come down before you try to control it.

Just my .02

I heard some stuff about how the Premier League season is over and City were going to walk it. After 6 games last season they're top and had 18 points, the season was over, they would win by a landslide, they finished 3rd, behind us. In 2016 they were also top of the pile after 6 games with 15 points, they finished 4th that year, behind us. It ain't over until the fat bird gargles. They are 5 points in front of us, we just need to keep up with what they do and beat them to narrow the gap down to 2 points.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been injured in a car crash in Amsterdam, hours after attending a concert.

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy will be sidelined for seven months after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba's hamstring injury will keep him out "long term", says manager Jose Mourinho.

Gutted for them all.

Not to worried about the lads injured due to the sport, but aguero in the car accident is different. Car crashes are never a nice thing to go through!

So now Guardiola calls us the "Harry Kane team." As many are pointing out, we were without him nearly three months last season and still finished ahead of them. Fuck you Pep.

http://metro.co.uk/2017/10/01/pep-g...-a-one-man-team-with-harry-kane-jibe-6968278/
Silly fucker went and spent 50 mil on our right back cos everyone in our team is shit apart from Kane. He's starting the mind games already and we will be the first one's the other managers go for as they see us as the weakest threat, but they see us as a threat which is credit itself to how far we've come. Let city think they've won the league in October and we'll see where we are come may!
