I think you are old right old chap. Everybody and his hamster is saying the title is done and dusted, City can't be caught, but they can. OK, we are 8 points behind them at the moment but thumping them in December and April would make the gap less than a one game difference. We have to match or better what they do of course, but we have a team that can do that.We need to get everyone fit and then take on City. Seems the rest of the league is dependant on us again, like last year when we ended City's run in October and then Chelsea's run in January. I think it will be a cracking game especially as they play more like Madrid and Liverpool rather than Man United or Crystal Palace. Bring them on.
I always wonder how they come up these valuations. Transfermarkt give a much lower market value for us, but theirs is equally unrealistic as they value Dele at £53m and Harry at £72m - we all know that those two would not be sold for less than £250m! I don't suppose it matters as they would have used similar valuation methods for all the clubs in their list so the comparisons might be fair. From Goal.com
Pep Guardiola has the most expensive team in Europe at his disposal, but it is Spurs star Harry Kane who is the Premier League's most valuable player
Manchester City have the most valuable squad in all of Europe's top five leagues, with Tottenham Hotspur a close second.
According to research from the CIES Football Observatory on the aggregate transfer values of each player in their team, City are one of four teams with a collective squad worth more than €1 billion.
With a value estimated at €145 million, Kevin De Bruyne is the most expensive player in City's team, but in Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, Pep Guardiola has three others at his disposal rated to be worth more than €100m. Overall, the current league leaders' squad is worth €1.196bn
The Premier League's most valuable player does not play in light blue, however. Yet again on fire for Tottenham with 13 goals in 14 games to add to four in his last four England appearances, Harry Kane is valued at €186m by CIES, though it falls short of the reported €225m Spurs are said to be demanding from Real Madrid.
With the star forward boosting them, Spurs' team is tallied up with a worth of €1.173bn, just €23m less than City, and €43m more valuable than Barcelona (€1.130bn).
Surprisingly, Lionel Messi is not Barca's most expensive star. Despite his struggles to find the net this term, it is Luis Suarez who tops the list at €134m.
Team Squad value (€) Most expensive player (value)
Manchester City €1.196bn Kevin De Bruyne (€145m)
Tottenham €1.173bn Harry Kane (€186m)
Barcelona €1.130bn Luis Suarez (€134m)
Chelsea €1.044bn Eden Hazard (€121m)
Manchester United €919m Romelu Lukaku (€165m)
Real Madrid €903m Cristiano Ronaldo (€96m)
Liverpool €901m Mohamed Salah (€101m)
PSG €864m Neymar (€218m)
Atletico Madrid €800m Antoine Griezmann (€147m)
Juventus €743m Paulo Dybala (€166m)
Napoli €721m Lorenzo Insigne (€105m)
Arsenal €666m Alexandre Lacazette (€89m)
Bayern €624m Robert Lewandowski (€102m)
Monaco €604m Thomas Lemar (€97m)
Roma €595m Radja Nainggolan (€75m)
Chelsea (€1.044bn) and Manchester United (€919m) complete the top five with Eden Hazard (€121m) and Romelu Lukaku (€165m) their top-valued players respectively.
Yes precisely. A bit harsh on Levy who continues to transform the club to keep pace at the top of the tree in the modern football world. A cunt maybe but a clever cunt and our cunt, rather than some of the more genuine variety at other clubs. Better the cunt you know...I think that's how the expression goes?I always wonder how they come up these valuations. If I was feeling like a total cunt I could say we have got lucky, just for fun let's have a look at seven of our starting lineup against Real Madrid - Christian, Toby, Kieran, Eric, Dele, Harry and Harry, how much did that lot cost us? £41m. How much are they worth? I would geustimate around half a billion, £480m was my estimate. ! Lucky or fantastically shrewd signings / player development by Levy, my money is on luck because he's a cunt.
Really the value of the individual players is meaningless, a team of disgruntled superstars managed by that dutch 'genius' would be thumped by a team of drunk blokes selected from the stands by the Poch.
Yep, I have been misunderstood over in Kiddy Corner many times for saying that I think Levy is a total cunt who I would never invite round for tea or do a business deal with, but I don't have an alternative under the fucked up corporate football we have these days. Personally I would like the season ticket holders to own 51% minimum of the club and the chairman would be an employee. He is a cunt, but all the other cunts are probably double-cunts.Yes precisely. Problem is there is already palace city scheduled for midday on NYE,I guess sky or BT,plus MET police,TFL and national rail and then the clubs cant logistically sort it.So 4pm on NYE 3,000 west ham fans and +40,000 spurs fans trying to travel home on a reduced service (NYE and a Sunday),add to that policing and I guess Brent council having issues on one of the biggest holidays of the year, ridiculous situation the premier league has got itself in with tv scheduling.I even feel sorry for arse fans away at WBA in a game that finishes about 6.30pm,where are concerns for travelling fans by the people in charge? From the club site (for anyone who is unaware, at half time in the recent EFL cup match and with West Ham losing 2-0, their fans left their seats and tried to break down the partitioning/segregation in the grandstand walkways to get to the Spurs fans at the East end of the stadium). I'm guessing a 2.15pm kick off on a Sunday is less than ideal from a police perspective. There won't be much 'goodwill to all men' and Christmas spirit being shown that's for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if the match was moved to 12.00noon and local pubs closed.
Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United, 2.15pm, Sunday 31 December
Joint Statement from The Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur
We are writing jointly to you to apologise for the delay in being able to confirm ticketing arrangements for the above match and to ask for your patience.
We fully understand that for those loyal and committed fans anticipating attending, this delay is inconvenient as we are already beyond the normal deadline for the confirmations you deserve.
Staging matches requires many elements to be put in place, primarily to ensure that you can all enjoy them safely and can get to and from grounds in reasonable time.
Given the complicated circumstances we are asking for a little more time to work through solutions acceptable to those with the ultimate responsibility for ensuring this match is played and enjoyed safely.
We thank you for your understanding.
I agree with your whole argument and points in principle, but I'm not sure the above is true, at least at the ever increasing obscene levels of wages and transfer fees. I don't know how to burst the bubble, or at least deflate it significantly, but if I had the required pin, I would apply it. it is a complete nonsense that clubs are now paying over £100m for top players and salaries on top at £200k + per week. That is a 25 year old earning over £10m a year basic, plus TV rights, sponsorships, endorsements, plus whatever. I know it's naive but these guys need to distribute some that back to agencies that are working for clean water, health, jobs, housing and education in the slums of Brazil, Argentina and Africa and needs elsewhere across Europe and the world. Fucks me off, whether it's ours (not yet, but £5m a year is more than enough) or anyone else's players.tv companies need football more than football needs tv coverage 7 days a week..
