Astonishing, live sport at its best in so many different formats, difficult to beat. Never seen anything like it at the cricket or the tennis for that matter.

The Tennis was incredible. And 5 hours of it too.
Amazing that they can physically & mentally endure that pressure while maintaining such a high level of focus.

Absolutely , and I know it’s not PC ,but who cares , I’m sure they’re well happy to have played 5 sets and won Exactly the same as Haley did , when she won her final in 6-2, 6-2 in under 2 hours . Doesn’t seem fair tome
Tennis and the porn industry , two places women get paid so much more than men ( in monetary terms anyway.
As for the cricket , how can NZ not have won it , when they had the same scores , but had lost fewer wickets .
Then in the Oasis (champagne Super 1 Over) level on scores and we win , because in the main game we hit more boundaries .How random is that , why not how many dot balls .
I would have loved it , if it had been , 5 overs , and Just 2 batsmen , get as many runs as possible , and if you lose a wicket , you lose 20 runs

If golf is allowed in here I’d like to wish Shane Lowry all the best today at the Open in Portrush. He’s leading by 4 and last time he was in this position he lost it at the US Open.

Good luck mate you deserve it, shot 8 under yesterday.

Ashes, gripping 1st day,Warner out early and the crowd singing "he`s gonna cry in a minute" top banter.

Today was so funny , the ball went past the bat , missed the pad ,and the Aussies heard a noise and appealed .......only for it to be shown it hit the wicket, BUT the bails didn’t get removed .
Followed by, “ Same old Australia ,always cheating “
I told a mate who went to visit Australia two years ago , when asked , “ do you have a criminal record “ , don’t respond with “ do you still need one ??”

Quite ridiculous that Smith is banned from another year from a "leadership role",but is quite clearly captaining the side, organising the field, speaking to bowlers...Still the hollies stand singing "he`s got samdpaper in his hands" is one of the banterist chants I have heard in any sport.

He should have been banned for longer than the 12 months so he missed the World Cup and these Ashes ......also like the Same old Aussies always cheating .this came after they appealed , but the ball missed the bat, missed the pad , Hit the wicket , but the bails never came off

I don’t disagree.

That said, it goes both ways. Whether it be sandpaper or Werther’s Originals.;)

So true, punisment is so unevenly handled, some sports doping = lifetime ban, others a short period or never if appeals carry on for awhile, cheating, well in football happens every minute of every game, appealing for something not yours, simulation, time wasting, rugby fake blood,I mean WTF fake blood to use a blood substitute, and even the posh boys cheat at cricket now.Way of the world, winning has become everything, very little sportmanship out there, from players let alone fans.Have to say sandpaper was a new level of stupidity,so many cameras how on earth did they think it would go un-noticed..Cant get holier than thou because england have done it,pakistan well dont even talk about spot betting.Shame is next generation just thinks cheating to win is acceptable because that is all sport has become.

I feel a bit for smith,it was warner and bancroft but just happened on his watch (mostly),but most associations in most sports will put a cheat back in ASAP if they are a class player if not person.(more talking about warner here than smith).

Fortnite player Jarvis Kaye banned for life over aimbot cheat

Oh no, cheating in Fortnite - which is apparently a popular video game. This bloke was a professional player of a fucking video game. If only I had taken Pong and Castle Wolfenstein more seriously 40 years ago, I could have been a contender, only the total lack of ability and giving a fuck held me back.

Prices are also affected by the volume of bets placed 1x bet , if one bookmaker were to accept a large number of bets on one team then they would depress the odds on that team and as a consequence raise the odds on their opponents.

Australia just lost a fascinating test and series against India in Australia too. Got to watch most of the last session of Day 5 where India scored the winning runs with about 3 overs to go to win the four-test series 2-1

There ain't many sports I don't like... I'm a sporty chap! However, I've never got cricket... playing a game for 5 days (weather dependant) and still ending in a draw...!!!

Don't get me wrong some of the more recent exciting stuff including the one day stuff does look like a very good way of getting absolutely mortal with the lads...!

It also didn't help when my PE teacher (who hated me as a 14 year old for having a better beard and being a better footballer than him) stuck me into bat and peppered me with fast balls...!!! He didn't like it when I chased him through the school with the bat either... cunt..! 2 weeks suspended for that and missed a cup semi... double cunt.

brilliant post.

Couple of cricket things - have a watch of the last 5 overs of the Cricket world cup England vs New Zealand. and as recently as yesterday India beat the Aussies in the last hour of a 5 day test. I get your point, it can be dull bit like baseball, and it's not everyone's cup of rosy, but more often these days it's goood stuff, England are also doing very nicely indeed.

Mate don't disagree there was some super exciting stuff not long ago... (can't remember the context) I think England were involved and it was important and there were late runs etc... I even tried to explain the scenario to my wife... who gave zero fucks but smiled insanely at my exuberant description.

That 2005 ashes series will stay with me till the day I die. The best series ever, the mighty but wobbling Aussies and the up and coming Englanders with full bragging rights up for grabs. Twas like a 3 month North London Derby and I lapped up every second, electric!

I went to the Sunday athe Oval when Freddy skittled them out which brings me to my greatest sporting regret, I paid £65 a ticket for that Sunday and could have got Monday tickets for a tenner extra but the tight cunt I am I refused! What a plonker.

Iconic sporting moment, the whole series....it was like a football crowd at Lords and then that test at Egbaston. What a summer that was. 18 months after England won the Rugby World Cup. Good times.

After the debacle of the Ashes it’s time to make some changes for the test tour of the Windies.

Buttler is clearly not a red ball player and has barely played any county cricket in the past couple of years so we need to move on from him. Pope needs to go back to county cricket as he has had many chances and he has just not performed to the initial promise. Hameed and Malan as well two players I think we should move on from as I believe they’re is better options available. This my my 11 for the 1st test which I think we should go with.

Crawley
Burns/Lees
Bohannon
Root
Bairstow
Stokes
Foakes
Wood
Broad
Leach
Saqib Mahmood

Think Stokes needs to move back down to the 6 position in the order and with Jonnys good performances in the Ashes he deserves another chance. Keep Leach as he has been poorly treated and even though I doubt it I would like to see Josh Bohannon of Lancs given a go. Watched him a lot and I can see a lot of potential and he is a very technically correct batsman.

Root stays on as captain for now anyway.
Silverwood, Giles, Thorpe all axed.
