Tanguy Ndombele appears to have missed another chance to find a place at the north London club. football.london understands that despite a bright start Postecoglou grew unimpressed with the Frenchman's attitude and application as pre-season wore on, including his time-keeping.

The Spurs boss admitted to football.london in Barcelona in midweek that the midfielder's fitness was behind the others.

"A little bit physically behind the rest as well you know. The way we play there's a bit that I need to be strong on and that is that you've got to be at a certain physical level to play this kind of football," he said.

"If you're not it does no justice to the player themselves, but there's no doubt that we've got a big squad at the moment and there will be outgoing and those decisions are going to be made by the club and the players themselves."

Clement Lenglet is close to a move to Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr.

A deal isn't yet done but the Barcelona defender, 28, now appears likely to join Cristiano Ronaldo at the Riyadh-based club.

Sadio Mane, Alex Telles and Seko Fofana have all already made the move there this summer.

Lenglet has been on Al Nassr's shortlist for a new central defender for some time with others linked now expecting him to go.

Lenglet joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2018 in a €35million deal before going on to make 160 appearances for the club.

The France international spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, where he made 35 appearances, scoring one goal.

He is not currently not registered with Barcelona and has not featured during preseason with the club actively looking for a sale.

Tottenham are expected to make a formal move for Gent striker Gift Orban before the end of the transfer window but the club have prioritised outgoings in the wake of Harry Kane's departure for Bayern Munich.
Referencing Tottenham's "transfer plan" in a headline is not the best editorial choice by the Standard. There is no such thing.

I'm getting very irritated by our failure to buy a striker
It might be close to foot stamping time again 👿🤣
Arguably dragging out the VDV purchase, so we go into Brentford game underprepared cost us two points
Now where's the striker we need, will that cost us too
All this nonsense about selling first is just that
We've sold Harry we need a striker in
Deal with the deadwood as and when we need a striker now
Ive been ENIC out for a long time, I don't go on about it a lot because what's the point. But just for the record STRIKER IN ENIC OUT😤

Those sentiments are echoed by many on here including me...however, I can't see Levy buying a striker for £90m to try and fill the void.
Personally I can see Levy doing something like playing Son up the middle then do a deal with Brentford for Toney and get him ready for February. Between now and then I can't see the Dark Lord going mad.
I would like to see us looking for a proper pacey wide man because imo Kulo doesn't really do it for me. Very little pace and cuts in all the time because of his disability to beat a defender on the outside.
Let's hope he doesn't piss Ange off cos I really think this guy is the tonic we've needed for a long time.

🔵🐮 La Gantoise will not sell Hugo Cuypers AND Gift Orban during the same window of #mercato .
🇳🇬 In view of the ongoing discussions with #Tottenham - which will further accelerate this week - the most likely departure is that of the Nigerian striker. #JPL #KAAGent

Hi Dave, agreed cant see a 90m striker coming in. But Orban is available for 30m, must be others under 50m
Agree too about wide man, but maybe Solomon or Porro should be given a chance first. If not buy there if we cant get a striker
Whatever, please not that three again as first choice, it was painful to watch
Yes Brentford are difficult to play against, lets see how it goes v Man U if we play that trio again. I am not optimistic 😢

Tottenham are still in the market for a forward player who can come in and provide pace, assists and goals with reports in Yorkshire claiming that Spurs are looking at Wilfried Gnonto, the Italian forward who impressed heavily last season.

Leeds United have said they will only entertain offers in the region of £20million with Everton being frontrunners all summer- but Spurs who have lost their captain Harry Kane to Bayern Munich could make a bid for him in the coming days.

Personal terms with Gnonto are believed to be a mere formality as he is on a low wage in Yorkshire and will jump at the opportunity to move to London and play for a team that is looking to start from scratch after recent disappointment.

Gnonto played in the opening Championship game against Cardiff City but missed the following one against Birmingham as a move away from the club continues to take shape.

Tottenham have identified Douglas Luiz and Conor Gallagher as midfield targets to replace Pierre-Emile Hojberg.

Denmark midfielder Hojbjerg is a priority target for Atletico Madrid, with talks over a potential transfer ongoing.

Spurs have so far resisted Atletico's advances but there is understood to be a willingness from the Premier League club to sell their lynchpin for the right price.

There have been positive developments with regards to both clubs agreeing a fee in recent days, but progress has been described as 'slow'. Pertinently, Hojbjerg wants the opportunity to discuss a move to Atletico.

Nevertheless, Spurs have already started the process of identifying targets for Hojbjerg, with the expectancy that the 27-year-old will move to Madrid in the coming weeks.

Aston Villa midfielder Luiz is among the players interesting Tottenham should Hojbjerg depart.

The Brazil international was a regular for Villa last season, making 40 appearances for the Midlands club. It remains to be seen whether Villa boss Unai Emery would be open to selling the 25-year-old.

Similarly, Gallagher has also emerged as a candidate to replace Hojbjerg in Ange Postecoglou's midfield.

Tottenham boss Postecoglou is an admirer of Gallagher's energetic approach and believes he would fit in well to his plans.

However, Chelsea are short of midfield options at the moment following the departures of Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kante and Jorginho in recent months.

As things stand Chelsea would be reluctant to sell Gallagher, though that could change if they can land No 1 midfield target Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

Sources have also indicated that there are emerging concerns at Chelsea that they are strengthen their direct rivals to frequently after selling Mount to Manchester United and Kovacic to Manchester City this summer.

Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga is another that has admirers at Tottenham. But the fact Luiz and Gallagher and both have extensive Premier League experience is likely to be attractive to Tottenham if they enter the market for a central midfielder.

Mail Sport reported earlier in July that Atletico were in talks with Tottenham over a potential Hojbjerg switch to Diego Simeone's men.

Mail Sport understands the Denmark international wants the opportunity to join the LaLiga side, who will be playing in the Champions League next season - unlike Tottenham, who are not in any European competition.

Hojbjerg is a firm target for Atletico boss Simeone, who has instructed his recruitment staff to explore a move for the 27-year-old, who is also attracting interest from Germany.

So far Tottenham have shown an unwillingness to do business - but sources have indicated that discussions are ongoing to make the move happen.

Hojbjerg is believed to be actively open to moving to the Spanish capital this summer.

Agree with @Dave that we'll try to play Son up the middle. In Ange's system that's probably a better fit for him anyway. We'll see what happens with the Orban kid--I'll believe it when I see it. In terms of proper wingers, I loved Gnonto last season, and am honestly surprised he's not a target for a lot of clubs.

In midfield, Gallagher and Luiz are good players, though I'd really like to see Alfie Devine or Harvey White get a serious look in if they're not loaned out. Devine in particular looks ready for this level. If Bentancur returns at anything close to his old self, and Ange decides to keep GLC (which I really hope he does) there's competition for spots, and our midfield 3 will be a real strength IMO. I just wouldn't see replacing PEH as a huge priority.

Surely we have to bring in another CB.

Where does this Gallagher stuff come from? He's starting for Chelsea. Why would he come to us to fight for a place.

I imagine he'll be sidelined with Caicedo in. They just signed Romeo Lavia today as well. He's been rumored to leave all summer.

It'll be interesting to see what Troy Parrott does if we do get Gift Orban. In terms of striker hierarchy, it would potentially push him to 3rd or 4th choice.

I know he missed a lot of last season on loan due to a knee injury and only managed 3 goals, but he was decent when he was at MK Dons the season before.

It's crazy that he's still only 21 because he's another one of those players that seems to have been around forever.

One of the most overhyped players I have ever known as a Spurs fan.

He’s average. Given how Ange has a long history of backing youth, the fact that Parrott hasn’t done anywhere near enough to even warrant consideration tells you everything.

Move him on. He’s not of the standard required.

You're certainly not wrong there. I think his reputation was built on scoring a few goals at international level and a lot of people claiming he was the stereotypical 'next big thing'. I think it tells you even more that Ange has given Dane Scarlett more minutes than Parrott in pre-season as well.

Injuries have played a big part, but the club need to be ruthless--best for the player at this point too.

The more I think about it the more I really want us to get a deal done for Ivan Toney and have him ready to go in Feb 24.
Can't think of a better alternative to Kane who we know should score 25+ PL goals a season and at a fairly reasonable price I'd imagine. No brainer for me.

I really hope we make a move for him too. You see him as an addition to or in place of the Belgian kid we’re supposedly in for?

Gift for me. A player with no baggage just wanting to impress. We don't need a player who directly replaces Richarlison
as this would destroy him. I feel he will come good and with a back up player to compete with, as Gift, would be perfect.
