Spurs aside, this whole window has been poor from him.
Very true.

The deal that was never likely to happen anyway now appears to be fully off as City supposedly won't be signing a replacement for Savinho so he's going nowhere.

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of convincing Manchester City to contemplate selling them Savinho rest on City signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid. For that to materialise, Rodrygo would need to tell Madrid he wants to go, and The Athletic is not aware of this happening to date.

If that changes, it may open the door to talks between Madrid and City — with Pep Guardiola an admirer of Rodrygo. That, in turn, could provoke a conversation between Spurs and City over Savinho. As things stand, however, this is purely hypothetical. City insist they are not looking to sell Savinho. Therefore, at present, there is no situation for Spurs to pursue and — despite Thomas Frank’s side remaining keen — the Brazil winger is currently on course to remain at the Etihad Stadium.

We're apparently interested in Lucas Paquetá and West Ham are interested in Bissouma.

Watch how we fuck that one up as well.

Bissouma to Galatasaray is seemingly on. Loan with an obligation to buy apparently.

Le Arse already have a deal and medical set for Hincapie, ending their drawn out two-day pursuit. This is a reminder to folks that player transfers aren't hard, Levy parting with money is.

Apparently Don Fabio himself is officially returning to the club to lead the recruitment.

After the window closes.

I suppose another take on this Bissouma move is that you clearly don't want to get on the wrong side of the manager.

Dropped for persistent lateness and now sold soon afterwards. Kind of implies he hadn't gotten the message so Frank wanted him gone.

Reading that Yves wants to get his UK citizenship & needs to be based in England for another year hence why it is a loan first & they a sale. Being owned by Spurs for the year achieves that.

Tottenham are trying to sign two attackers from a shortlist of five names as they seek to bolster their options in the final days of a frantic transfer window.

Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers remains the ideal signing, but the difficulty in doing that deal means the Spurs hierarchy are also looking at West Ham United's Lucas Paqueta, Leipzig's Xavi Simons, Atalanta's Ademola Lookman and Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche.

The window has so far proven hugely frustrating for the club in terms of attack, as moves for Eberechi Eze, Morgan Gibbs-White and now Savinho and Nico Paz have failed or faltered.

That feeling is accentuated by the fact that Spurs have money to spend, as illustrated by the suggested fees they have reached in some of those negotiations.

This has nevertheless affected the pursuits of other players, as they now continue to try and get one central attacker and another who can play out wide.

Spurs would love Rogers but some figures in the hierarchy are wary of getting into another pursuit that would end up as high-profile and without success.

Villa are so far resistant to even countenancing the idea of a sale, and some sources maintain that Tottenham would not go high enough in terms of an offer to make the club reconsider.

There has been a lingering question from sources in the market over Spurs having to "learn" to do big deals again.

Paqueta also presents difficulties, however, since West Ham's troubled start to the season means it is a bad time to push to sign one of their key players.

Manager Graham Potter is instead far more concerned with bringing recruits in, as his side face up to the reality of a relegation battle.

Simons had been viewed as a certainty for Chelsea, but they have been intent on moving players out first, and are also pursuing Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho.

That may now leave an opening for Spurs, although they have yet to push on that potential deal as proactively as others.

Lookman has meanwhile entered into a dispute with Atalanta due to his desire to leave, and Spurs may present one of those opportunities that suits all parties.

While the fractious nature of this window means moves for Manchester City’s Savinho or Como’s Paz could yet be resurrected, the club are prioritising other alternatives.

Tottenham look to rival Chelsea for Xavi Simons

Spurs are desperate to add a new attacking midfielder after missing out on deals for Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White

Tottenham Hotspur are holding talks over a bid to rival Chelsea for Xavi Simons.

Simons has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time with the club wanting to offload Nicolas Jackson or Christopher Nkunku before pressing ahead with a move of their own.

Chelsea have also been evaluating a move for Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez, which may open the door for Spurs to try to move to the front of the queue for Simons.

Tottenham have been interested in Simons for some time and there is optimism he would be open to a move to north London, despite his apparent interest in joining Chelsea.

Having missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, Spurs are desperate to land at least one new attacking midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

Simons wants to leave RB Leipzig this summer with the German club valuing him around £60m, which Tottenham were willing to pay for Gibbs-White and Eze.

There will be some nervousness within Tottenham, however, about formally bidding for Simons and being hijacked by Chelsea, given they missed out to Arsenal on Eze.

The likelihood is that Spurs will only make an offer if they believe they can quickly close a deal and minimise the threat of Chelsea stealing Simons away.

Tottenham are also interested in Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche and Como’s Nico Paz, while a deal for Manchester City winger Savinho has been difficult to negotiate.

Simons can play centrally as a No 10 or off the left or right and will perfectly fill the void in head coach Thomas Frank’s Tottenham squad.

Chelsea’s interest in Simons has prompted interest from RB Leipzig in re-signing Nkunku and that could yet be a factor that comes into play.

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho remains a target of Chelsea, while Jackson has interest from a number of clubs including Bayern Munich, Aston Villa and at least one other big Premier League club.

Our window is over. I’ve resigned myself to it. Prove me wrong Daniel.
It really is like that window where we didn't sign anyone. I honestly have the same gut feeling here.

Bare minimum Levy needs to issue a public apology but you know even if he did it would be the usual "But transfers are hard" bullshit.

Not only that, but seems like we're moving toward getting gazumped by yet another London rival for Xavi Simons (who's a very good player, of course). I'm kind of past caring at this point--can't wait till the window's over, or as they say at Sky, "SLAMS SHUT!"

If Bissouma goes, I'd look at Mainoo. Clearly wants a move and I think would be a very good signing and I think an upgrade.

Agree. Don’t really understand why he’s not being picked more, he could hardly do worse than what they’ve got for midfielders. Plus hes young and would benefit from Frank.

Tottenham have moved into pole position to sign Xavi Simons from Red Bull Leipzig after the midfielder was given permission to travel to London to finalise his next move, sources have told ESPN.

Chelsea were leading the race for the 22-year-old but have so far been unwilling to meet Leipzig's €70 million ($81.65m) valuation.

Sources have told ESPN that Spurs have submitted an offer which is in the region of that figure and Simons has consequently travelled to London in an effort to resolve his future.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea act to rival Tottenham's bid but their efforts are complicated by a need to comply with the terms of a UEFA punishment which dictates they must record a positive transfer balance in relation to last season's Conference League squad to register new signings for this year's Champions League campaign.

ESPN reported on Wednesday that Tottenham are keen on adding at least two new signings before Monday's transfer deadline.

In short: If Chelsea want him, they'll sign him. If they don't want him, we might be able to sign him.
