It’s said he wants £200k a week and a “guaranteed star role” so at least when the announcement comes that he’s signed for Chelsea then we know why - Levy wouldn’t pay the wages.

Or he wants to pay his fee £1 yearly for 60 million years

Tottenham have moved into pole position to sign Xavi Simons from Red Bull Leipzig after the midfielder was given permission to travel to London to finalise his next move, sources have told ESPN.

Chelsea were leading the race for the 22-year-old but have so far been unwilling to meet Leipzig's €70 million ($81.65m) valuation.

Sources have told ESPN that Spurs have submitted an offer which is in the region of that figure and Simons has consequently travelled to London in an effort to resolve his future.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea act to rival Tottenham's bid but their efforts are complicated by a need to comply with the terms of a UEFA punishment which dictates they must record a positive transfer balance in relation to last season's Conference League squad to register new signings for this year's Champions League campaign.

ESPN reported on Wednesday that Tottenham are keen on adding at least two new signings before Monday's transfer deadline.

Who knows, maybe this will be like the time we chased Saido Berahino all window and couldn't land him, so we wound up signing Sonny instead.

Ornstein calling it as done. That gives me confidence given Romano is having a mare this window.

Serious, serious talent here.

Just read one comment that made me laugh .. "Oh my god, we've been bummed all summer but he's literally the best option" 😂

I still kind of want to see him holding the shirt but this does appear to be 'done' ..

We missed out on Sancho a few years ago when I think we weren't a viable option for him...

I'm not convinced he would do more here than he has done at Utd...

I like the idea of Mainoo as he'd be on sensible money and keen to progress...

I suppose Sancho is still quite young...?

They'd be stupid to get rid of Mainoo, especially with their manager looking like he's on the way out.

Yeah.. someone he failed upward...
Third choice happened to be the best one, methinks. And the most expensive. He tried to do it on the cheap with MGW. Then tried to haggle with Eze. We got Simons only because he fucked up the other two. Wouldn't have paid this money if he didn't have to. But here we are, and it feels like a good spot to be in.
