Obviously you didn't rate him, and that's fine. But the reality is we do not have a direct replacement. Yea, Gray can play there but that is highly detrimental to his development as a midfileder imo. We should have done better with this transfer.

A number of Prem teams plus PSG, RM, Barca, would be able to pay more but none did.
Romero may be an elite defender but he's also a liability & many clubs recognize this.
That baggage plus the world knowing that he wants out didn't help us.

Going to Atleti with Simeone there is a perfect fit for him but not the best solution for us given the low price.
Market has spoken.

None of us know what went on with Spence.
Yep, the fee is pathetic. But...this is a player that wasn't fancied by Conte, Frank, and Ange for a reason, and was on the bench more often than not. MAYBE he wasn't good in the dressing room ? Maybe he was a bit toxic or didn't bother putting in the effort in training ?
Just because he made an impact in a handful of games for England doesn't make him Paulo Maldini.
He clearly didn't want to be there so keeping him for the sake of £10m would not be clever. Some would argue that certain managers like Ange treated Spence like shite...possibly...but can they all be wrong about him ?
We've freed up a wage and we invest it wisely.
Same with Romero...
RDZ is a top class manager imo and recognises who needs to be cleared out and who needs to be kept...
Romero's gone, yet Mickey has just signed a new 5 year deal...

We fucked this kid over for years when he was ready...

I don't think it was a good fee because he is worth way more, however if he wanted to leave (and who could blame him) then it was a good deal...

It's a shame RDZ couldn't get in his ear like he obviously may have been able to with Bergval and Mick...

Solanke is a liability... I won't have it any other way, he has done nothing since joining the club.

Look, I may have mentioned that I have zero faith in him scoring goals or staying fit and that my preference is for us to have never brought him... However, if RDZ thinks he can and does get a tune out of him... Ok.

Not gonna commit to eating my own genitals if he does, but I will not question the current gaffers plan...

It just never felt like he was happy to be here. It showed in how he played with us. Brilliant at times and selfish ass hell when he was checked out.
