Tottenham Hotspur have announced a post-season friendly match in Hong Kong just five days after the end of the Premier League season.

Spurs round off their competitive campaign at Hull on Sunday May 21 and have now announced that they will visit Hong Kong to play Kitchee SC at the Hong Kong Stadium on Friday 26 May, kick off 8pm local time (1pm UK time).
Kitchee SC secured their eighth top-flight league title at the weekend and it will be Tottenham's third trip to Hong Kong in the last nine years following visits in 2009, when they played South China, and 2013, for the Barclays Asia Trophy.

The latest fixture will form part of the celebration programmes of the 20th Anniversary of the Reunification of Hong Kong with the People’s Republic of China.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino said: "We are delighted to accept the invitation to return to Hong Kong to play against one of their top clubs Kitchee SC and play our part in the anniversary celebrations.Spurs' international duties do not conclude there. Once the players return from their holidays they will be competing in the International Champions Cup across the Atlantic in the USA in July.
On Saturday July 22, Pochettino's men will take on French giants PSG in Orlando, Florida, kicking off at 1am UK time, before travelling to Harrison, New Jersey to play Totti's Roma at the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday, July 25 (1am again).

Then the US tour ends with a more familiar opponent in Manchester City in Nashvillle, Tennessee on Saturday July 29 (11pm UK time).

Last season Spurs played their final pre-season match in Oslo against Inter Milan, but it is believed that Spurs might try to organise a final friendly at Wembley to get further used to their new ground ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Really Poch? If it were me, I'd be bloody knackered and looking forward to a couple of weeks off. Bit of Hong Kong investment coming up in the new stadium perhaps? maybe HSBC are sponsoring the entrances or vomitories, for those in the know.....;)

I am 100% certain that Poch did not actually say that. This is insane.

Heh, this is totally intentional imo... not even just for sponsorship reasons. Remember the Newcastle fiasco in 15/16, wanted to give his time a bollocking and didn't get the chance for a couple of months.

Yet we have a friendly a week or so after the season ends.

Tactics.

-edit-
Though, after reading Don, maybe not the case but I wouldn't be surprised to find out he wanted to keep the squad together for a bit.

Mate honestly the only person who wants to go is the chairman, and even he knows he has to as part of the commercial deal with AIA. They even had to send Ledley and the groundsman out a couple of weeks ago to check the pitch wasn't dangerous for the players, in terms of picking up an injury. They were there for 28 hours!!

Well, least it's early, and lets hope the pitch isn't a teenagers face.

No Marcus Edwards?
Talented young Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Marcus Edwards has been named among the club's U19 squad to travel to Germany for the Volksbank Cup, a tournament featuring the likes of Liverpool and Werder Bremen.

The 18-year-old attacker, known as 'Mini Messi' around the club's training ground, has dropped out of the first team picture at Spurs in recent months following an ankle injury which slowed his progress after an exciting cameo display in the EFL Cup against Gillingham back in September.

In recent weeks, despite an injury crisis at Tottenham, Edwards has not been selected among Mauricio Pochettino's substitutes. In the final two Premier League matches at Leicester and Hull, his development squad team-mates Filip Lesniak, 21, and Samuel Shashoua, 18, have both been named ahead of him, the former in both matches and the latter at Leicester.
