Yeah been looking on YouTube and Google but I'll check out that channel as lots of then are sponsored and are biased as fuck...

Yeah as I've got older my cock has obviously shrank so I'm upgrading from my 10 year old 50" plasma..... and mine and the mrs peepers aint as clever as they once were and we live in a an absolute mansion.....

I have been gearing up to buy a UST projector to replace the main wings TV, but the more I think about it I am making lots of sacrifices to utilise the technology.... maybe in a few years it'll be a more viable option but I've gone from looking at them for months to looking at more traditional TV set ups...

Yeah the OLED is crazy money right now, so I think they are probably off the table but the technology I would be getting from a 2nd tier product will be light years ahead of what I have now and slip into my 2and a bit grand budget that I was happily going to spunk on the UST...

I have a really nice Panasonic 50 inch, probably LCD, fucked if I know, but when I look at the TVs in showrooms, them 4k doodahs look fucking amazing.. The FOMO bloke said if you get a 4K UHD telly, then no matter what one you get it's going to be good.

It's fucking mental! I am thinking that a 55 inch TV is small. I remember when we got our first colour TV back in the 70's, it was a 19 inch screen and nobody could afford to actually buy one of those fuckers unless they were millionaires, you had to rent them from Radio Rentals. They weren't very reliable either, the TV repair man was a regular visitor to most houses.

I remember the first time snooker was on telly in colour, all the neighbours came round to watch and we were all like 'fuuuuucckkk! Colour TV!',

The picture on our old black and white TV was shite, so was the picture on the new colour TV but we didn't know that, and were totally happy. It's like all the advances in TV tech, I didn't realise the picture on my old backlit 50" Sony Plasma TV was rubbish until I got the Panasonic LCD, hopefully the new OLED one will give me a similar experience.

Been around, done this & that but quite selective at times. Very discerning.
But on other occasions,, after a few drinks, there have been a few "what the hell... let's do it" as well.
No regrets. All in all, just enjoyable experiences I won't forget.
Been at it again last night.

My main gripe with new tele`s is sound,speakers facing backwards because of slim design,and obvs size when they try to make tv`s pencil thin,and as you said bass is a real downer on some.Its almost as if they are trying to make you buy a sound bar or external thing.
The biggest problem with tv sound is either dialogue is too low versus shots,bombs going off or cunts like Sky putting adverts on at a +90% ratio of volume.I guess the fashion of wanting 10kg paper thin 70" tvs is a basic design problem they cant overcome with the same quality of picture to sound.Hopefully with what you paid it should be so much better,but TBH our eyes and ears get used to whatever it is we watch on so quickly its easy to get over minor flaws for me anyway.

I had read reports that the sound was good on these tellies, but I wasn't all that bothered as I usually bung it through my hi-fi doodah and crank up the sound on the telly to boost the dialogue, but this guy doesn't seem to need that. I've tried a few movies, concerts etc and the sound is triffic, bas and dialog, it fucking should be really for the money I paid! Still, it should last 5 or more years so it ain't too bad.

I bought a Samsung 46" led about 8 years ago. I paid €1400!!! But, got myself a blue ray player and a surround sound system to go through it...class. Itll be a couple of years when it would make sense to get a 70" job...but that's the aim......oh......and I have no real issues with my knob. It's like a morris minor, old, not very nice looking, but does the job.

There was a news report yesterday about vandalism at Oradour-sur-Glane,the whole village left as a memorial after the atrocity committed there in WWII.Anyway it prompted me to start rewatching the world at war series again.I havent seen it for many many years.I have to say the 1st episode about the rising to power in germany in the 30s of a dictator,just has so many similarities as to what is going on in so many nations today.If these things were being repeated in germany you betcha the media and world would be sounding the alarm bells.The insular my nation first,people of other colour/religion/nationalities being responsible for all the wrongs,popularist nationialism,full on hateful rhetoric transcending into belief of large parts of the population.Its a mistake to compare it to nazism because clearly the label national socialists is nothing like much of the worlds right wing "economic modelling" parties.
But the manipulation of media,rallies,calling out "other types" of people,after watching the world butcher itself 75 years ago,t is clear it could happen again,the kindling is there,it just needs the spark.

Sorry to bum out a thread of enjoyment,I am hardly a political animal,but if you have the means,try watching the series again,taking off any jingoistic we won the war ra ra ra,and remember the lesson learnt,which was "Lest we forget"..

There is no doubt in my mind (and hasn't been for some time) that we are being geared up for war, even the bucket loads of ads on TV for the services are a bit of a clue. Pre WW2 the peacetime British Army had been run down in to the ground and the Gov. started building up numbers from about 1936 (you'll have to double check my dates here) my point is they saw it coming even though politically there was no desire amongst the population to see more of their families butchered.

Anyway, the parallels are there and it's clear as day and bloody scary.

World at War, yes, epic series. No blame attachment just facts - or as much of the facts as people were willing to accept in the 70s.

IF you like this kind of thing and understanding how it fits into western history the Ken Burns Vietnam is fucking amazing. 8 episodes of 2 hrs and it puts everything around the Vietnam War and the civil unrest in to perspective.
