Lamela makes sense, hes likely to be fully by early october then after year out will need game to be match fit. If we qualify i think you can make 3 changes

Surely you meant to say 'when we qualify'?Lamela makes sense, hes likely to be fully by early october then after year out will need game to be match fit. If we qualify i think you can make 3 changes
"How are we supposed to compete when they spent so much?" asks Celtic fan, before turning attention to Saturday's Ross County match.Psg look a wee bit tasty!
@The Cryptkeeper , I believe Dortmund at home is when you are over here??
Sorry mate, have been offline whilst travelling. I was very lucky to get to both the Everton game at Goodison and that game against Dortmund courtesy of @Wotspur , @ParkLaneMal and one or two other top Spurs men.
'Twas a blast.
How is this possible? This bit will be pleasing Daniel Levy no end......it's the revenue breakdown for Champions League 2017-18.
Last year we earned £10.5m from actually being in it, £3.5m for prize money, £21m from the TV pool = Total £35m ish.
This year and assuming the same TV pool (which in fact will be larger) we have earned to date:
Qualifying - about £10.5m
Min prize money (inc results so far plus 1 more win and last 16) £10.4m
TV pool money approx £25m
Min total projected for 2017-18 £45m ish
Over $1.4B will be shared by clubs participating in this season’s Champions League from the minnows that entered and exited in the first qualifying round right through to the eventual champion team.
What is an entry to the Champions League worth to a team and what are the possible add-ons?
• Each of the 32 teams qualifying for the Champions League group stage is guaranteed $13.8M
• For each win at the group stage a team will earn $1.6M; for a draw $545,000
• By qualifying for the knock out stage (round of 16) a team will receive $6.5M; qualification for subsequent quarter and semi-final rounds will bring additional payments of $7.1M and $8.2M respectively
• The eventual runners up will receive another $12M and the winners $16.9M
The maximum Champions League payout excluding market pool is $62.3M.
In addition, there are payments from the market pool. Allocations from the market pool are the chief contributor to the regular phenomena of the eventual winner receiving less than a team that is knocked out at an earlier stage.
There are three variables that influence market pool pay outs to teams qualifying from each market.
• The value of television rights within each market
• The ranking of the qualifying teams in their domestic championship the season previous
• Performance in the Champions League
In the case of the UK, Celtic of Scotland is lumped together with teams from the Premier League and receives 10% of the UK market pool.
Teams unable to navigate through the qualifying rounds have the consolation of earning some money over the last month or so.
How the payment adds upHow is this possible?

Leicester City earned more Champions League money than Real Madrid in 2016-17

Do we get seeded cos we won group?
Don’t think there are any seeds once the groups are initially decided. We can get anyone that finishes 2nd other than any English team that may finish 2nd. That’s my understanding anyway.
That my understanding too could end up with Basel or CSKA Moscow from group A, PSG or Bayern from group B (most likely Bayern of the two),Chesea will finish second in group C (I think) so nobody fro that group, Group D could end up with Juventus, Sevilla look like finishing second in group E, Shaktar or maybe Napoli from group F, Porto or Leipzig from group G, and Real from group H. Can we drsaw a team from our group? Would be annoying to get Real Madrid again next if so. Plenty of good sides there but offer me a Basel, CSKA or Shaktar and I'd take it but then I'd take Juve or Bayern too.Don’t think there are any seeds once the groups are initially decided. Not much difference really,as it stacks up we can drawThats what i thought, so arguably we want all the english teams to win the group
The only seeding advantage for winning the group is playing the 2nd leg at home.Do we get seeded cos we won group?

not if we get barca, psg, juve or bayern!!Not 100% true mate. The other advantage is that you can only be drawn against a team that placed 2nd in one of the other groups (and in our case, is not English).
