It's an analogy based on results. You can't start losing 4-5 games in a row in the Premier League no matter what style you are trying to implement and no matter where you are in the league. If your players aren't good enough then your players aren't good enough. Yes our injured players could probably field an 11 that could beat this one. However, it is part of the manager's job to decide we're going to isolate Doku against Ben Davies at right centre back instead of playing 5-4-1 and sitting deep for example. He has to take some responsibility for game management, even if he has a long term vision that gets us pumped in the short term.
if we were sitting back against City, they would be 4 up by now. Our press is keeping us in the game. They scored from a set piece and a mistake by Davies dropping too deep to track the runner.

Our general play has been fantastic. We are being brave and playing to our strengths and not our weakness.

That is why it is 2-2

3 mistakes, so fucking costly
Have you noticed who we are playing and where? There has been some great defending and all you can do is whinge about the ‘mistakes’.

More frustrated than anything. We have been so good so far,

Here we are probably about to get beaten but the heart and the effort has been fantastic. Proud of them, regardless of the result.

We are fucking outstanding
Have to agree the substitutes have changed he shape application and we always looked like the team who would score... Bisoumas mistake aside and we're 3-2 up right now.

Mate that performance overall was fucking fantastic...

Bisoumas mistake aside... Genuine mistake, the Davies one was just a footballing thing and the OG was again just football, we win that in a 2-3 upset banger...

We rode our luck against the most expensive side in the world for sure... But scored 3 fantastic goals.

Tim Howard is a studio pundit over here and he was just making pretty much exactly the same point. Every way of playing carries its own risks. Even if Ange was inclined to, this team is not built to sit deep, hoof it long, and concede possession. We had no first team CBs available (or maybe 1/2 of one, Davies has a good bit of experience there in a back three)

You can’t criticise what we’re doing atm. That was a phenomenal performance, against the best side in the world, without 4/5 of our best players. The heart, character and mental resilience to keep on going is so impressive.

Yes we make mistakes but we’ll learn, and Romero’s back for the Spammers, so I don’t have to freak everytime Royal gets the ball, although with Romero, I guess we now have to worry when an opponent has the ball!

Fucking great performance given what we were up against and all of our injuries.

Great manager, great heart in this squad and the plank stinking it up in here hurling shit from the cheap seats at Postecoglou can fuck right off.

We can blame the makeshift back 4 all we want but we rely too much on individual brilliance to get us out of trouble.

General thoughts:

Johnson's defensive play isn't good enough and would rather have Richarlison on the left.

Losing 4 games in a row from winning positions is more of a mentality issue than a squad ability issue.

Ange has to take some responsibility for becoming more and more like de Boer at Crystal Palace than Pep at Man City.

Must get points from West Ham and stop losing 2+ goals every fucking game.

Go and do one mate.

🖕

One thing you want to see in injury crisis is players on the margins forcing their way into the manager's plans. Dos Santos has very much done that IMO. I was really hoping Gil would do the same, but he looks way off the pace.

I was reasonably happy with Gil given our front three were feeding off scraps in the first half. He was also very clever to set us away for the first goal.

I’m very confident there is a player there.

Fair enough: I forgot about his contribution on Son's goal. I hope you're right, because I love players that are brave on the ball, which he definitely is.

Brilliant game of football. Real shame 2 of their goals were from mistakes, but the lads kept their heads up and battled on. Top notch.

Sonny as captain was a stroke of genius. You can tell he's got that whole team with him.

Lo Celso can hit absolute belters. He strikes the ball so clean.

Fuck me the ref got that free kick wrong at the end though.

Urgh .. just my fucking luck I had to go out after City equalised at 1-1. Sounds like a brilliant game.

I did punt £20 quid on us winning but clearly I should have done 'not losing' instead .. heh

Holy fuck! Watched that with a fellow yiddo who's 80 years old, one of my mates and my 11-year-old son. All three reckoned they were risking heart attack.

Gil was bad but keeps getting better. Royal was asked to do something he's not very good at, and did alright. Johnson was supposed to be one-dimensional and is there in pop-out full-figured 3D. And Deki, what a man!

The spirit in this squad is incredible. And these are the understudies and old hands. We'll get our top choices back soon, and watch out.

People can disagree about Ange’s tactics, but there no denying the difference in energy and spirit he’s brought. Night and day from the last few years.

Ange has to knock this shit off or he's going to turn these boys into real footballers. Holy hell we are scary to watch, but we more or less matched City for skill and tactics missing half our team! Maybe stop the nutmegs when you're last man and we'll be good. Haha, no one is not entertained!
Hopefully Romero comes back under control next week. Not likely since he got into it after the whistle in street clothes. Stunning how calm that Aussie is in the midst of total chaos. COYS!
