I'd say one of the many "Yes Men" in the game told him he should be a model in his spare time. Plenty of cash and a que of women fighting over him. He went soft. You could literally see him trying new looks and images. Dele was always one of those players who was not only good, not only hugely talented...but a bit of dirty cunt as well. There was fight in him. And I for one liked that about him. He came from League one, where you needed to stand your ground or you'd be fucked. I don't feel one bit sorry for him. He's been in decline for at least 2/3 years now and he's shown no interest in fighting back and getting his career back on track.
If I was a coach and had a 17 year old massive talent on the books, I'd just show him a picture of Dele and say to him that if he wants to succeed...concentrate on your football and only your football.

There's talk circulating tonight that he'll be let go at the end of the season and Everton won't have to pay a penny for him.

His fee was for £40 million but it was structured in installments based on "easily reachable" targets - the first of which was £10 million due after 20 first team appearances.

He's made just six appearances as a sub so far and with 11 games left, he's certainly not going to hit that target this season even if he starts every single game so the feeling is that they'll cut their losses and let him go.

I've said it before: I think most of us know how difficult it is to get to an elite level in football, but we maybe don't appreciate what it takes to stay there consistently. I wonder if he's even really bothered: he's already made many times more money in a 7-8 year career than I would in 7-8 lifetimes. On the one hand, you want to see players as gifted as he is make the most of their abilities, but on the other, it's no surprise that some of them fall off.

Without speculating, I just hope it's not something serious off the field.
