Yep, a 24 carat Varna Sankara...

Though it was a late entry, I would suggest that Varna Sankara was Proper Spursy's word / phrase of the year for 2020. Came out of the blue & we got plenty of mileage out of it.

While on that subject, here's one for @Dorset in Hindi as it seems to be his favourite word: Fuddi. I remember it from my Uni days through my Sikh friend.

As for Bale, still think their might be more to him in the coming months. Agreed that thus far he's been quite underwhelming but he did score that important goal against Brighton that got us 2 extra points which may be quite valuable come the end of season.

Yes that’s true, he’s got 3 months to prove himself I think.....

Nope... 300k a week... he doesn't get to fucking acclimatise...!!!

He should be the first name on the fucking team sheet and trying ro edge out Kane and Son...

He has been woeful since his return and if we dare exercise any extension I will become grumpy and shouty.

Fuck him back off to Spain or let him rot in the J league for a trillion quid a week...

I don't recall a time when resigning a player has been as good as the first time or even comparable...

Chalk this one up as a nice idea and fan appeasement.

Mate you are grumpy aren't you? Did you not have any brussel sprouts with your Xmas dinner? I reckon he could be a bit useful in one of the three cups we're still in, especially after Eric Labia and his silly chums Reg and Celso infect the rest of the team with Covid. I haven't given up on him yet, he shows the occasional flash of brilliance but I don't think we are ever going to see a Graham Roberts level of effort from him, but once he starts knocking in a goal or two he might surprise us. Or, he'll be a useless cunt and I will have to admit I was wr.., less correct than usual.

I am more worried about some of the permanent squad members, Doherty makes me itch, I don't rate him much, Sanchez is so inconsistent - usually pony, I'm not overly chuffed with Bergwijn and the resurrection of Sisokko seems to have ben put on pause? It seems likely that Dele is on his way out, NDombele has got better but still nowhere near worth 60 million EuroQuidDollars, but I have stopped calling him NotDembele or NFatBelly - for now.

There was a great song on the bus back to the centre of Milan, after Bale's hat trick in the 4-3 CL loss to Inter all those years ago.......it went, (to the tune of Yellow Submarine) Number 1 is Gareth Bale, Number 2 is Gareth Bale, Number 3 is Gareth.....etc. after Number 11 the chorus was 'All we need is 11 Gareth Bales, 11 Gareth Bales, 11 Gareth Bales....'

Would work for Harry Kane these days.......

Doherty is a shambles and make we wonder if he knows what day of the week it is while he is out there. He seems to lack the mental capacity for anything more advanced that running very quickly in a straight line... not often are the words "thank fuck we can have Aurier in the side for a few weeks" ever uttered.

Sanchez looks like he has some debilitating nervous system issue where he involuntarily looses all controll over the lower part of his body... like a seizure just from the waist down...!!!

Bergwine and Sissoko are just legs, although Bergwine for me make Sissoko look like Pele...

Yeah, I am fucking grumpy.

Chin up - Liverpool lost didn't they!! ha ha

I'd pick Doherty everyday of the week and twice on Sunday over Aurier - he's had one good game against City, the rest of the time he's cost us points against West Ham (2 free kicks),Newcastle (free kick) Crystal Palace (free kick) Liverpool and pen against Leicester. The bloke is a complete clown and can't cross a ball when he goes forward, sorry but he's useless..

Doherty just looks very weird, but is far less of liability. Based on last nights showing, up against Sadio Mane, why the hell we ever sold Kyle Walker peters before he'd properly matured is beyond me. Especially as he's also 'only' on £25k a week at Saints. Madness.

Bergwijn works really hard - which Maureen loves obviously and had a really good game against Leeds. If Mourinho lets him play (like he was allowed to against Leeds and Liverpool a bit) he'll come good, desperately needs a goal imo. Sissoko is just a hard working squad player i'm afraid, sorry but so is Winks atm and Sanchez - which makes me wonder why we paid about £45m for him. Doesn't seem much better than Foyth and CCV - there's a bloke who deserves a chance surely?

Win tonight and we're in another final - which ironically we've lost twice already in recent times against Mourinho teams - United on pens and Chelsea.

COYS!!

It's odd how we see things so differently, me and @Yid both have sensible, correct opinions about Aurier being better than Doherty and you wrongly have a deviant, opposite, arse-about-backward opinion. Luckily Doherty won't be playing tonight and the Surge probably will so Moronio won't be influenced by your mad opinions.

I think Foyth will be very good, don't know about CCV - what about that Danny Rose bloke in the under 23's squad Do you think he'll be any good? Sissoko looked like he was going to be a beast after a very slow start, but this season I get surprised when I hear the Spanglish commentators mention him, he's there on the pitch, but not really there.

Indeed, it is odd in the extreme, perhaps it's just relative?

Mr Aurier is so utterly unreliable and a liability for the reasons and loss of points highlighted. Whereas Mr Doherty, a key component in Wolves success last season, may not be the best right back in the world, but is clearly better in every department, except perhaps pace. Ohh wait, I think Aurier has now learnt how to take a throw in properly, yep he's got better at that.

If I were looking for a decent right back that wouldn't cost the earth this January or next Summer, then Matt Cash at Villa looks pretty decent and Kyle Walker-Peters of course Ohhhhh wait, he must be rubbish eh Maureen?

I dont see the point of keeping Bale or Dele. Bale couldn't be bothered, and is clearly here to relax, not to tackle, no chasing back, and know that 300k a week will be in his account.
Dele, (with the exception of the first 6 games under JM) has not performed as he should for what, 12/18months ? Get rid of them, and bring in 2 hungry players who want push hard for a start and prove themselves. There's plenty out there.

Oi! Are you incinerating that Big Moussa can't get a general election in the trouser department? He was rock hard last night, well, firm anyway. Best I've seen him play for many a yonk.

No brainer really. Very disappointing. The least you expect is effort from a player. It was half hearted at best.

Visually it looks like he's doing the minimum to get away with being picked for the 'midweek squad' team. Conspiracy theory would suggest he's getting fit for Wales in the Euro's and whilst doing so avoiding injury at Spurs. Certainly he is not giving it the full 100% which we were all hoping for. Haven't seen him use his pace and drive at all yet.

I have fixed my sausage machine so get ready for loads of luvverly stats!

Gareth Bale has played 161 minutes of Premier League football, scoring 1 goal, which if you jiggled about a bit and did some riffmatic to do a maths type thing so that he had played a similar amount to the top strikers - he would be 7th in the PL scorers table. Maybe it's not really fair to slag Gareth off when he's not really getting any playing time? He's been playing golf and sitting on benches for over a year so it could take some time to get back to his best? Dunno, maybe he's just a cunt, who knows?
