Though it was a late entry, I would suggest that Varna Sankara was Proper Spursy's word / phrase of the year for 2020. Came out of the blue & we got plenty of mileage out of it.

While on that subject, here's one for @Dorset in Hindi as it seems to be his favourite word: Fuddi. I remember it from my Uni days through my Sikh friend.

As for Bale, still think their might be more to him in the coming months. Agreed that thus far he's been quite underwhelming but he did score that important goal against Brighton that got us 2 extra points which may be quite valuable come the end of season.

I reckon he could be a bit useful in one of the three cups we're still in, especially after Eric Labia and his silly chums Reg and Celso infect the rest of the team with Covid. I haven't given up on him yet, he shows the occasional flash of brilliance but I don't think we are ever going to see a Graham Roberts level of effort from him, but once he starts knocking in a goal or two he might surprise us. Or, he'll be a useless cunt and I will have to admit I was wr.., less correct than usual.

I am more worried about some of the permanent squad members, Doherty makes me itch, I don't rate him much, Sanchez is so inconsistent - usually pony, I'm not overly chuffed with Bergwijn and the resurrection of Sisokko seems to have ben put on pause? It seems likely that Dele is on his way out, NDombele has got better but still nowhere near worth 60 million EuroQuidDollars, but I have stopped calling him NotDembele or NFatBelly - for now.

There was a great song on the bus back to the centre of Milan, after Bale's hat trick in the 4-3 CL loss to Inter all those years ago.......it went, (to the tune of Yellow Submarine) Number 1 is Gareth Bale, Number 2 is Gareth Bale, Number 3 is Gareth.....etc. after Number 11 the chorus was 'All we need is 11 Gareth Bales, 11 Gareth Bales, 11 Gareth Bales....'

I think Foyth will be very good, don't know about CCV - what about that Danny Rose bloke in the under 23's squad Do you think he'll be any good? Sissoko looked like he was going to be a beast after a very slow start, but this season I get surprised when I hear the Spanglish commentators mention him, he's there on the pitch, but not really there.

Indeed, it is odd in the extreme, perhaps it's just relative?

Mr Aurier is so utterly unreliable and a liability for the reasons and loss of points highlighted. Whereas Mr Doherty, a key component in Wolves success last season, may not be the best right back in the world, but is clearly better in every department, except perhaps pace. Ohh wait, I think Aurier has now learnt how to take a throw in properly, yep he's got better at that.

If I were looking for a decent right back that wouldn't cost the earth this January or next Summer, then Matt Cash at Villa looks pretty decent and Kyle Walker-Peters of course Ohhhhh wait, he must be rubbish eh Maureen?

Visually it looks like he's doing the minimum to get away with being picked for the 'midweek squad' team. Gareth Bale has played 161 minutes of Premier League football, scoring 1 goal, which if you jiggled about a bit and did some riffmatic to do a maths type thing so that he had played a similar amount to the top strikers - he would be 7th in the PL scorers table. Maybe it's not really fair to slag Gareth off when he's not really getting any playing time? He's been playing golf and sitting on benches for over a year so it could take some time to get back to his best? Dunno, maybe he's just a cunt, who knows?
