There is another unnamed midfielder lined up, just Incase we can’t agree on Gomes.

We are prepared to pay in excess of Neto for Gomes. You never know, but engaged, regardless of whatever denials come out. I will add more in ITK

Re: £60m for Gomes
We would spend that or near. Depends on a lot of factors.

Slight pinch of salt required here as I haven't had anything from this person before but I do know a coach from Wolves (happy to share behind the scenes).

He said we had been in contact re Gomes and the feeling from within Wolves is we will pay what Wolves are looking for (around £50m is internal rumours - add ons included). Apparently talks have been positive thus far and there is a feeling from both sides that a deal could be reached this week 🤞🏼.

  • Still working on one that we'd like to get in before the deadline. Feeling as of last night is that it's 60:40.
  • The other one has somewhat stalled, so unless the selling club come back to us prepared to compromise, it won't happen this window.
  • There's one other iron in the fire - a long shot for a young player, but lots of hurdles to getting this one done in time.

Jayden sancho has popped up again from breaking it at the start of the window and could be a late opp before the deadline ! Man Utd have asked about reg availability as cover for lb United would need to offset some of sancho wages if we pursue it though !

to tie this one up, there were no bits from here forward
Thanks again, USSpur! This thread is thoroughly appreciated.

To resist tying it off though, does anyone have any thoughts about Sterling to Woolwich? Seems bonkers to me, and more likely to disrupt than to enhance, but what do I know?

The best I can imagine is him dressed in red again, streaking down the wing to score at 94' and then having it taken away by VAR.

Watching Gallagher for England... We should have done much more to get him onboard.

Agree with both of the above. Gallagher in particular.

It will cool to absolute zero once Levy sees his wage packet.

The Glazers can pay for that!

FWIW I don't think he's what we need. Ange & Co may well know more than I about squad requirements.

But...can you imagine the Yid army bursting into a round of "He's one of our oooown, he's one of our ooooown..." when he scores against them at WHL next month?

As I've made pretty clear, I get next to no info these days apart from the very rare piece when I go to a game but I can confirm we were very interested in this lad so wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we were revisiting it.

We asked about Rashford in shared wages, similar to Adebayor deal with Citeh years ago. You know how far that went. If we become desperate you never know. What i am hearing, we are prepared to go that little further with calculated risk. We are also feeling J David’s camp out. We would pay to get him now. But not priority as of now. There are couple unnamed players not out there. Don’t ask me, I have no damn clue. Regarding the popular topic Muani. I think this goes down to who will commit to an obligation, or close to that.

Multiple targets being worked on. Has to be that way because January can be a tricky time for transfers, not only because it’s part way through the season but also because you only have 25% of the time to conclude a deal, compared to the summer window. We’re pushing for two in particular, however one of them would be challenging to complete in this window unless the player’s current club reduces their compensation requirements. The other one was agreed with the player and was mostly agreed with the club, but then another club expressed an interest and the player’s agent is looking to leverage that into getting a better deal for his client. There is also a younger player we’re in negotiations for, but that deal would be for him to join us in the summer.

Even though I know it’s a targeted approach based on our metrics+scouting data, because we’re kicking the tyres on a significant number of potential options, and we’re trying to get January deals concluded in parallel with laying the groundwork for potential summer signings, from my perspective as an ordinary Spurs fan whose info is entirely 2nd and 3rd hand via gnomes, it can feel a bit scattergun even though it clearly isn’t. The COYSers who were on that Dec 30th zoom call will know that during the call I shared the snippet that we would buy between 1 and 3 players in the January window and that a young European goalie would be the first signing. With that one in the bag, now I wouldn’t be surprised if we successfully acquired both, or only one, or none of our top targets in this window.

Please don’t ask me for names or positions. I know most COYSers appreciate that I share what I’m told I can - except when my decrepit brain forgets to post the info, which has only happened twice …. unless I’ve also forgotten about other times

stated it last week in the ITK thread. They want a straight ‘Obligation to buy’. We want a ‘strong option, which leads to obligation once certain targets are met’.

I know we are working on several possibilities but have no idea whether any of them will come to fruition before the window closes. I hope/expect at least one to cross the line, but that one may not be pleasing to some COYSers. There is also a player most of us would be happy with that we're trying to prise from his current club, but (my opinion) I don't see it happening during this window. Still working on the young player I referenced a week or so ago but that one also feels like it may not conclude until the summer. Apologies that I can't be more specific, which is frustrating for me and I'm sure is frustrating for COYSers, but I gave my word.

Don’t read to much into any press or whispers coming out atm I would say. It’s all noise due to the circumstances we are in currently . The board know what they need to do however actions speak louder then words and we have been here before in different circumstances though. Groundhog Day for the slime ball I don’t think he will be able to hide any longer as the wind hasn’t turned on the squad and the hole is getting bigger and bigger without room for escape or excuses right now . We as fans have a right to force the issue !

With the news you will hear soon aside from a Maddison, we may need to go OTT to bring him in now, if possible
