It's all media games, I am very confident this is very close and will get done shortly.

The latest info I have is pretty much the same as yesterday, ie that the ask-bid gap for Eze is relatively small, whereas the gap for Savinho is still too wide. Hard to say whether it will close sufficiently for this one to reach the finish line. Interesting that we play Man City a week before the window closes.
Conversations with another player's reps and his current club have progressed. Whether we'll be able to complete that deal during this window remains to be seen.

The post quoting POK was an exercise in careful reading. It doesn't say "preparing their first bid", it says "preparing their first official bid". That extra word tells us the clubs have unofficially discussed numbers to the point where the gap is small enough that we feel we can put in an official bid and negotiate the specific details (eg schedule of payments). Of course, the usual caveat of "there's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip" applies.

I just wanted to clarify what happened with MGW as there are a lot of incorrect rumours etc still doing the rounds and a few weeks have passed and I think it's now safe to do so.

MGW leaked his release clause, not his agent, not Spurs and not Forrest(just for old times sake). Forest knew he was looking to move and concocted a plan to do a PSR bump with Man City and McAtee where City paid well over the odds for MGW and McAtee went the other way for a lot more than the eventually bought him for. As soon as it hit the news City dropped any interest they had which wasn't much but if they could get him cheap then it could have been an easy flip for profit if it didn't work out. So now how could City pay £80mil for him when the whole world knew the release clause was £60mil?

From what I was told and shared in the lead up it to it all hitting the fan, was that MGW leaked the release clause to the media so that couldn't happen. Marinakis and Forest found out about it and threatened to tie him up in court for years like what happened with Bosman and he would have been left not playing in a world cup year in the peak of his career. This left him little choice but to sign a new deal on much better terms to make it look like a win for Forest and more importantly Mr Marinakis. It all happened incredibly fast because he was left with little option after he had completely fucked himself over. Spurs knew nothing of all of this and were as shocked as anyone when the story broke that he had signed a new deal.

Significant progress has been made today. Definitely not a done deal. Horses need to be held.

The Goat hears that we've gone back in for Savinho and that we won't hang around if it's not accepted so this could resolve very quickly.

Paratici is working on Nico Paz but it's not a simple deal to do.

The Goat hears that we did not offer 70m for Paz, it was 45m, but he simply doesn't want to come, he's set his heart on Madrid.

I didn’t hear (or post) anything from sources about us being strongly interested in Hincapie, or having substantial talks with Leverkusen about him. Either Galahad and Guinevere didn’t have their ears to the ground on this one or Romano confused reality with something he saw in a fever dream.

Re Paz, this is a player TF very much wants, but RM have made it impossible for a deal to be done at a viable price, as is their right. RM would have to significantly change their stance, including their plans for the player’s future, for a transfer to be feasible. There is a feeling of disappointment at THFC, but no recriminations for giving it a go or at the magnitude for the offer we made.

Re Savinho, Galahad said “Improbable but not impossible. As we did with Paz, we’ve given City our best and final for Savinho. While they mull it over we’re working on two other options.”

Fwiw they have come to us, not us to them after contact had stopped.

Two ways of looking at it, they are either trying to flush Chelsea out, or we are his best option now.

We can 100% afford what they want and if we hadn't shifted focus he'd already likely be our player.

Now, if we can convince him, this is one of the more likely transfers. However, Chelsea have been in his ear and likely sold him the 'dream' so how easy it will be to turn his head is anyone's guess.

I don't know how we stay alive (Thanks @River) but I cannot stand that twice a winter window, three times a summer window those guys ask for money for the site.

For what it’s worth, I’m told there are sufficient funds available for more than one high level signing during the January window. Whether there are available targets of the desired calibre is another matter.

Who the fuck would even consider us? The funds might be there but we are not exactly an attractive proposition.
