apparently? updating to Kodi Jarvis is the way forward? This lad here has made a 1080p repo that runs like a charm. Not tested it here but by all accounts it is getting some really positive feedback.

"This is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!! It worked perfectly on Kodi running on Nvidia Shield. The 1080p version started playing instantly on my TV. Awesome! Thank you!"

"This is incredible."

"This is awesome! Thanks!"

"This is epic. You should have a donation link for all the hard work you do."

e.t.c...
Yes mate I posted a vid earlier in the thread that Jarvis is miles ahead 16.1 they're testing 17 at the mo with Bob but it keeps getting taken down for maintance, stick with 16.1 Jarvis it's the fucking nuts and download plexus which if your stuck allows you to watch sopcast etc ropey stuff if your stuck for streams

And as I also said in the thread of you have the dosh for a nvida shield (300-400 nuts ) nothing will beat it plus you can stream games on it I just can't justify the money with a Xbox 1 sitting here and a dodgy box

My quad core is still giving me value for money mate. T8 box while it had a wobble for a while due to my lack of knowledge but once I learned how to do it it's a fucking doddle.

Wookie is a very nice and very well supported build bruv.

Couldn't justify the 350 euro price tag or the fact it doesn't even begin to ship until the 30th Jan for the shield .i went for the t8 s plus by droidbox.the 32 gb make a huge difference in the running speed etc very happy with it

I've been keeping a loose eye on this thread and a similar eye previously in that other place but I really need to ask, what the fuck is Kodi?

It's an operating system you can put on either internet Tv boxes or pc or laptop.when you do you can then upload apps onto it or a complete build which allows you watch and film or Tv programme in the world basically if you have decent internet connection, also gives a good stable source for all sporting events including all football matches

@Ted the Yid if you pay sky movies, get a box,if you want catch up of any tv series on the planet, get a box,and thats before the sports, kids stuff.
They arent complicated to run,and if you can get rid of BT sport or lesser sky packages, you ll have paid for the box in 2/3 months

If you dont understand the jargon, just ask,IRE he was a virgin 2 years ago,he can tell you everything about em now!!They are easy to use and work!

Cheers @Thfcire and @skiathospurs , I will have a look into this. I usually just go on sites like putlocker or couch tuner. Have been reading up more about it this morning though.

Appreciate the info!

Honest even if you buy a top priced model and keyboard for £100,its worth it,even if you just use it to watch tv series or films,we dont watch much sport on it,but I have btsport and sky sports & movies on it,i use the laptop normally,i have skygo on that anyway, but they work,IRE knows more about the kodi sports stuff than me.But they are worth it.
Do you have an android phone?if so look at showbox and mobdro apps,or even better install and imagine that on your TV.

I have, only cos it allows me a UK ISP address here in greece,so I can watch all the UK TV iplayers and skygo from a family members account.I pay £70 a year or 15months with the offers they do,for me £6 a month for UK tv is my only cost and a bargain as well as a neccesity.Dont know much about security benefits or the rumours of deportation because of illegal streams and downloads?think that talk is more aimed at the people actually streaming, but from their websites almost none are UK based anymore or have UK website prefixes.
My vpn allows me to use USA servers but I havent got a scooby what tv that would give thats free?or if I would even have time to use it,what with uk tv,dodgybox and dodgy websites/streamers.
Think @admin @boo or @Dorset know most about this techy stuff?

vpn i use is lamnia btw, have half a dozen uk servers, always works,if for some reason I cant sign in to the server, through email or their chat they have it back on in a minute, dunno if i could find cheaper?for what it cost me for what I need its a bargain,if i was in uk doubt I would pay for one.

the boxes are the nuts, depending on what you pay for on sky they can save you loads, quality is good, its not streaming how it was years by.For me with the time difference here I can catch up most programmes anytime, instead of busting my nuts trying to stay awake at 1am for something on at 11 in the UK.Films are very good too.If you have an android phone?try the mobdro app, sure it has discovery on it?and skysports,btsports....

I don't use Kodi,
I notice a lot of pop ups dont load when I am on the vpn,it just says anonymous something or other and stays blank.I always make sure I am logged into it when buying or banking.Strangely the THFC site if I try and access my account or buy tickets i get a message, I cannot enter on this server and I have to switch it off.

Is it somthing I need to do boo?

Would it improve my viewing experience...?

Would just like a few more expert opinions.

If the feds (such as Dorset : P) want to see what anybody is doing, they can regardless of any Internet Security measures a user takes.

How does a VPN work?

When people send a letter to someone, no matter which country they live in, they include a postcode. This makes it easy for the postman to deliver the letter.

Every time you connect to the internet, your 'postcode' is beamed to all and sundry but, instead of being called a postcode, it's called an Internet Protocol (or IP).

It is as easy to find your computer's IP as it is for a postman to find a house through your Internet Service Provider (ISP),such as British Telecom, Comcast, Sky e.t.c.

A virtual private network (VPN) removes the postcode so the postman is proper screwed lol!

As far as performance enhancement with respect to streaming media, the results are negligible. That is to say; if you use a VPN, your internet will not be faster.

Are there any alternatives to using VPN?

Yes there are but in terms of privacy, a VPN is a better option.

The first thing you can do to help 'hide' your internet activity is to not use google, yahoo or bing internet search engines. Instead, use something like Duck and Go that will not track your internet activity.

Using firefox, chrome or internet explorer browsers, it is better to use a 'private session' as opposed to a regular window.

How to use 'private sessions' (or 'incognito in the case of Chrome) Firefox - Chrome - Internet Explorer

In your browser, such as FireFox, there are many 'add-ons' that you can erm, add. Three of which are very useful in terms of protecting your surfing.

NoScript (firefox only) - NoScript for Firefox pre-emptively blocks malicious scripts and allows JavaScript, Java and other potentially dangerous content only from sites you trust.

Adblock Plus
- Used by over 50 million people, a free ad blocker that blocks ALL annoying ads, malware and tracking.

Cookie Monster
(firefox version) - Cookie Monster provides proactive cookie management on a site or domain level basis, including 3rd party cookies. Via the Toolbar, it provides easy access to enhanced cookie functionality, while doing so in a non-intrusive manner.

Free VNP

Opera browser introduced a free VPN in their recent release of their browser.

Using hidemyass to browse the internet is an easy way to 'hide' your activity.

I don't know if you need one or not, some streaming services won't work unless you are connecting from other countries, so then you need one, but, many services are clever enough to know you are using a VPN so they say 'fuck you' anyway. BBC Iplayer is getting good at identifying VPNs. Some ISPs will throttle your bandwidth if you are connecting to P2P stuff so theoretically by using a VPN you can trick them, but it is really easy for an ISP to identify which IP addresses are VPNs so they could and probably do just throttle all the traffic being routed through VPN servers.

Will the feds smash your doors down if they catch you watching pirated stuff? They could do and have done to many folks. If you use Sky as your Broadband provider then it would be safe to think they will protect their revenue streams by grassing you up if they see you are file sharing or streaming, especially movies and sport, they make a lot of money from those two areas. Other broadband providers will also get medieval on your bottom hole if they see you doing bad things. So, I would always use a VPN if I were to use any of these naughty streaming services and absolutely definitely if I were using P2P, because then you are actually sharing or broadcasting stuff so are theoretically guilty of a far bigger crime than just watching the stuff.

Obviously I don't do any bad things online, but if I did I might use the ExpressVPN service after having tried many and finding out that most of them are pony. I might have found out that IPVanish was farking horrible and could fuck up all the internet connections from a Mac even when the fucker was not running, even when it was uninstalled. I could have found out that ExpressVPN costs apparently about 8 or 9 quid a month if you pay for a year up front, it would probably provide a very good service for up to 3 of my devices at a time, and I could have even set up a whole house VPN on a cheap Linksys router using something called DD-WRT whatever the fuck that is, if I wanted, so me and Mrs D would have been invisible to the feds, but that might have been a pain as I might have needed to switch off the access sometimes for services and sites that don't like VPNs, so if I had done that, which I hadn't of course, I might have junked it after a while and gone back to individual device level VPNs - I don't know, I just guessing of course, how would I know?

The vpn I use says it can change IP address if BBC block it,there is help contact set up if you find bbc do stop you (they never have),and they have a work around ready in place. Its like most things the feds are always one step behind.I have thought about getting the vpn router but we are only using it on one `puter, the missus has her companies swedish&dutch vpns on her 2 laptops so I havent bothered, getting proper iplayer on the dodgy box would be nice, but hardly essential. They even sell the routers with a skygo preloaded connection set up for a fee,I guess ex-pats will find the few hundred a bargain,I just have my mums for nothing so screw that!!
