We had three bad results all at home - Saints, Wolves and Brighton. I've omitted Burnley and City as they cancel each other out. With those 9 points we would be home and hosed by now. Oh well........business as usual for us!!
I can’t really comment on the Wolves and Saints game as I didn’t see them but I’m still totally perplexed even now by the Brighton performance, yes Brighton were decent, well organised etc but we were so shit. We reverted back to the shit we had served up on a consistent basis over the last few years but I just don’t understand why. 🤦‍♂️ We lacked energy, coherence, there was no movement, simple balls to feet seem to bounce off the recipients boot and go to a Brighton player. The front 3 were totally anonymous, Harry decided to not give a shit and failed to look for possession in midfield like he had done to great effect during our 4 game win streak. The chasm between midfield and the front 3 was farcical, and to top it off I thought Conte had a really poor day, no flexibility with our formation, lose 1-0 offering nothing in midfield and get outmanned in that area, yet we still finish the game with 3 at the back.

Just confused as to the performance after the run we were on, I know some of the score lines flattered us, thinking Villa especially but we were so clinical and always carried a threat in those games through the front 3, rare to watch a game where not a single player was at the races, especially given the magnitude of the game. Anyway needed to vent my frustrations!

For reasons beyond my understanding, I now think we will make the top 4. Maybe because we are mirroring how simultaneously crap and brilliant we were in the run to the CL final.

Arsenal seem to have hit form at the wrong time for us. Definitely need to win the next two before Liverpool.

Swings and roundabouts - they lost to Palace, Saints and Brighton on the bounce.

Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal

Newcastle 1-1 Arsenal

Arsenal 2-0 Everton

Tottenham

Tottenham 2-1 Leicester

Even I'm not that obsessed with stats and predictions. Someone has way too much time on their hands. The even sadder thing is that I checked this assertion and it is correct. Points, Goal Difference, Goals Scored, Head To Head Goals, Head To Head Away Goals would all be the same, so play-off it would be.

At least they have the common sense to acknowledge that we’ll likely get twatted by Liverpool ..

As any gambler (well, any mathematician) will tell you, the odds of that happening are astronomically proportioned. And yet to me such a scenario feels terrifyingly possible.

Were it to happen, there's very little I wouldn't do to be there for that match. And at the same time I know I wouldn't enjoy a millisecond of it.

Talking about odds, as a random aside, I remember a website called 'freesupertips' who used to publish daily accumulator bets that I used to try every now and again.

They would have various types of bet and one 'crazy' one with something like 10 matches with the previously mentioned astronomical odds. I was having a punt on a roulette machine one day in a bookies and did pretty well so I decided I'd cash out and go and buy a voucher for around 50 notes to go home and put this accumulator on on the website. I would still be up overall if it failed but I was buzzing from the roulette win so thought 'fuck it'.

Waiting in a queue for the counter behind a few of the local professional gamblers, it was taking forever and I was getting impatient. Got so annoyed, I went back over to the Roulette machines and proceeded to lose the lot so I left and went home in a foul mood.

(You know what's coming at this point :))

Yes, the accumulator came in. And I would have won about £25k with that £50 quid bet if i'd have waited probably five more minutes in that queue.

Yeah but ....

Definitely need something out of the Liverpool game. A win would be amazing but a draw will be just as handy under the circumstances.

If we win the game in hand on United as well, it'll guarantee we'll finish no lower than 5th as well as we've got +18 goals on them.

Not feeling very confident about top 4. Arsenal have probably the worst talent of anyone fighting for top 4 but they have something we don't. Luck. Why I have no idea. Need to hope the Chavs keep losing because they look ready to throw in the towel. Would be amazing to get a point against pool and I think we'll take care of Arsenal at home, but the fine two have doom written all over them. Maybe it's just me, but Kane looks absolutely awful. Yeah, nice header but he can't even seem to keep up. Would be nice to see him step up. Superstars carry teams. Now's his chance. We need him desperately. And still, fuck Levy!

Or an agent whispering in Harry's ear when he's asleep...

"Harry, remember, if Spurs don't get top 4 you can leave and it'll be understandable...But if they do...??...well I'm not suggesting you don't try, but you know yourself."

We're fucked really. We need to win every match and get a point or better at Anfield.

Last week we were supposed to get 6 points and got 1. Arsenal were supposed to get 1 point and got 6. The NLD is huge now but even a win there may not be enough. Our best chance might be to hope that Everton need something on the final day and give 120% against the scum.

And the worst thing is that we will have done it to ourselves.

Chelsea’s fixtures are not exactly tough though, are they?
No, you're right, looking at it now, most of their remaining opponents other than Leeds have little to play for, and Leeds have been hit with injuries again. Maybe wishful thinking on my part--I wouldn't even mind if Arsenal finished above them.

My hatred aside, what happens to Chelsea over the summer will be very interesting. Apparently their license to operate runs out at the end of this month, and Abramovich is now dicking about over the loan.

There's a few stories going around that if Conte does walk this summer then Potter will be the preferred choice to take over and a game like that shows that he'll clearly be a decent choice. It also confirms we'll be in the Europa League at the very least next season as well.

We're going to need to beat Woolwich on Thursday and hope they drop more points in their remaining fixtures to make 4th now though.

Europa will suck, but if Levy showed a backbone we could simply outspend Woolwich in the summer and make the whole thing moot. Yeah, I know.
