I like Ange and don't think he should've been sacked. So none of this is me having a go at him. And I think it's time for Frank to go, so I'm not really defending him either.
BUT. Let's not pretend we were anything other than shocking since late 2024 under Ange. We ground our way to a trophy, which was brilliant, but we beat one good side (Frankfurt) in doing it, and basically backed our way into beating the worst Man United team in almost 50 years in an unwatchable game. And we binned off the league to do it, finishing fucking 17th. Things were almost as toxic by around February, and felt like every game he was getting in a spat with the home support. Remember the ear-cupping incident?
Right now if they were stupid enough to put me in charge, there are maybe five players I would keep past the end of January, and almost all of the one's I'd keep are barely 20. Frank isn't as charismatic as Ange, and his football isn't as attacking, which is why he's not getting the benefit of the doubt that some (including me) gave Ange. But he's got the same root problem.
The point of all this is that we have been a relegation-quality club for almost two full years now, and most of that's not on Ange or Frank.
