Apparently we are close to getting Riqui Puig of Barcelona. He's not yet 19 & lightweight like Foyth but talented like Modric.

Tottenham, very close to signing the youth squad Riqui Puig

Star Juvenil A FC Barcelona has not yet accepted the offer of renewal and Pochettino is in love with his game

The contacts have already begun and the English team believes that it will take the canterano of the Masia

It is one of the revelations of the season in Masia and right now it is more out than inside. Riqui Puig ends his relationship with FC Barcelona this summer and has a multitude of offers on the table. Among them, the one of renovation with the azulgrana set to have ficha in the Barça B. Nevertheless, it is not at all clear that its future is of blaugrana.

After playing a spectacular Youth League and debuting with Barça B, Riqui Puig has captured the attention of the best teams in Europe. Of all of them, the one that has more advanced is Tottenham. His coach is Pochettino, who is in love with the Matadapera boy's game, and they have tried it with a very attractive sports project. Contacts are advanced although a final decision has not been made.

At Barça they are aware that Riqui has many offers and that he has many doubts about signing his renewal with the club. For this reason, his presence in Barça B has been reduced and he only plays with the Juvenile A Copa del Rey. The same goes for most of their colleagues who have not renewed either. The possible descent to Segunda B is a tough journey for all homegrown players who know they will suffer in that category.

Your future will be decided in a few days. The offers are already on the table and just need to make the final decision. If everything continues as now, Riqui Puig will play in the Premier League next season with the Tottenham shirt. The club has to react and bet on a guy who has DNA Masia and must succeed in the Camp Nou . We will see how it ends.

Would be massive, this. Spurs in pole position to sign Riqui Puig from Barcelona. A very, very special young player. #THFC https://twitter.com/sport/status/997497014811287552 …

Nice, but some here&now for next season is what I am waiting for,and I think most fans on the back of a new stadium and big increases in admittance prices. No better time to cement our CL annual qualification, new stadium and a lot of worldwide media exposure,a couple of big signings would really fit the bill for our profile and show our intent.

So i am guessing a ACM play maker?eriksen`s position or further forward like Dele?He cant be a wide player,he isnt french or from france ......... Good enough for cups or straight in like Dele? or U23s mostly for a year or two??

Agree Skiathos & I don't doubt that it will happen. As per usual, some prominent names are being bandied about. Plus some lesser known up & comers.

Just following some ITK elsewhere (none of this JJ Jetski bullshitting type) & it's looking & sounding promising. Little bits of info here & there that pan out in the next day or two. In other words, ahead of the media.

If we get a player such as Puig on a free. I don't mind that kind of deal.

Dunno who this kid is.... however if he is at Barca he won't have been shit... but you have to ask as to why he wants away from the 2nd biggest club in the world...

For me this is the type of signing we need to make right now and back it up with loads more and fuck off huge mega names...

I would guess that like united or barca,if you produce en masse a "golden" generation of several yongsters then any pathway to the 1st team is gone for at least a decade,as who is going to replace messi, iniesta, pique, vidal, alba, the other suarez, and then the players they have bought to maintain their success suarez (goofy),dembele, coutinio etc .The panic to keep top of the tree changes how they got there, academy players are seen as too risky to lose your job over.Thats how it is at chelsea, united, city, just look at who chelsea have let go lukaku, matic (twice now),de bruyne all when young, united have 2 outstanding prospects martial and rashford and yet rarely use them, when was the last time city produced a regular youth player??
Its a bit like now Kane has stormed through, the path to the team is closed for 10 years (if he stays that long) he has already seen off soldado, adebayor, janssen and llorente what chance Harrison, bennetts, sterling or any youth player without more luck than any talent??If it was 4 years ago but our league standing was top 4 for 3 years,if ade and soldado were going down the shitter, would we have lumped on Kane or spent £30-40m on a more proven player? It took rose&walker 5 years to become among the best fullbacks, truth is now we couldnt wait 5 years or rather they wouldnt stay with us that time waiting.

Hopefully this cycle will mean in the PL (cant count 1 or 2 team dominated leagues like spain, germany, holland) a continuing rise and fall of clubs and era`s,a poor spell followed by refreshing the club with youth balanced against whoever spends the most wins all the trophies. You only need 3 world class players to have chances to win CL,PL we have Kane, eriksen is almost there,if one or two more can rise ,(like Dele),or some wonder kid from barca then we are are set for a decent 5 or more years.

Just thinking about the Toby situation for a moment, we can keep him for another year and then he can activate the release clause for £25m. So let's say we get £55m from someone this year, is it worth it? or just keep him instead? a decent replacement is going to cost £30m anyway?

If he dont want to stay, then so be it.Non of us know the sums offered and declined, just seems that for a year this has rolled on,its a distraction and loss of focus for it to continue next season. With poch its FIFO,we have seen that previously,no good planning for just one year stop gaps its just kicking the can down the road.
It certainly helps my mood to this that he didnt look great the few times he played after the hammy injury and that we looked pretty solid without him.He is a great player, but if his heart is no longer with us time to part ways as friends.

Some speculation that Utd want him. To be honest, it would kinda suck to not only see him go but also to a rival, however the silver lining to that particular cloud, could be Mr Martial, who i’ve also been reading that Poch is very keen on. I think Martial has a huge amount of potential, so if these reports are true, not a given, as it’s paper talk, then i think it could work quite well for us.

Now Sir Poch has signed I think we will see contract extensions for those who need or want. which may mean only a year or two but a hike in wages for some. I expect or more realistically hope that Kane, Eriksen, Dele, Jan, Dier, Son, Hugo in roughly that order of importance plus a few more Dembele, Lamela, Davies, Wanyama, Trippier will all folow over the next couple of weeks, if feasible before the world cup starts or pre season, when it's over.

I think you're spot on with this Don. I heard/read recently that Eriksen is already in discussions but wanted to wait until Poch had committed to us before he would and I'm sure he's not the only one. Pictures of Poch and Eriksen in Copenhagen having dinner and a good time together as friends says a lot aboit the influence Poch ahs on these still young lads and the article with Mason saying how the young lads backed him when the senior one's didn't wanna know says a lot for how much they care for him. I've never in all my time as a Spurs fan had full confidence in a manager, I liked Jol but knew he wasn't up their with the cream of the crop and the same can be said for Redknapp but Poch is gravy made from a different stock than anyone we've had in my time. So happy to see this contract signed as means we can move forward this summer with the commitment of the top boy!

So another angle on this is that Poch said "Either you back me and we do this, so get your cheque book out"..... and levy said "Yup, let's do this"...

This is unprecedented, and I can't wait to see what we actually do and where we'd go with this.

If Levy double crosses him and leaves him with Saha and Crouch..... he'll walk before christmass or even the season starts.

I don't hink he'd walk at all during the season, would more likely achieve what he can with us, potentially top 4 and cup if we get the rub of the green and go on to bigger things. Don't think Levy is gonna double cross him though as this is the time to make some good improvements, not go mad but add quality that will make us more competitive than we already are. Think Levy is aware that us moving to the next level as aclub is what will add value to the club alongside a new stadium. Backing us at this point could add hundreds of millions to the fee that ENIC will command when it comes to flogging us. It's all about the club value to him and winning a league or CL trophy will really add some value.

Whilst I applaud the guesswork that Levy may be giving Poch decent funds, don't overlook the word 'sustainable' in the PR yesterday. Also we tried the magnificent 7 with the Bale money a few years back, that turned into the magnificent 2 (Lamela & Eriksen),Levy knows this and it won't happen again. better to have 3 x quality players than 6 average ones.

Some rumors today that we are in for Pulisic. I dunno, seems far fetched. Also, I don't know if he clearly makes us better next season. Don't know if he would be out Son or Eriksen. Could be an upgrade on Alli but is only a creator and not a consistent scorer. He would cost a ton. We could probably spend the money better elsewhere, but we could certainly to a lot worse. He is all class and only 19.

He's young and good. Dortmund were pretty shite last year, so I think his progress was somewhat hampered. Their new coach might not be that much more exciting for him either.

Lots of chat about mousa going for around £25m to italy.

Inter Milan have become the fourth Italian team alongside Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan to register an interest in signing #thfc midfielder Mousa Dembele. [The Telegraph]
