Bournemouth have signed England striker Dominic Solanke from Liverpool for £19m.

Solanke, 21, had been due to join Crystal Palace on loan earlier this week but the deal fell through because of fitness concerns. Bournemouth are about to allow forward Jermain Defoe to join Scottish Premiership side Rangers. It is understood Solanke cannot move to the Cherries on loan under Premier League regulations.

Bournemouth are also set to sign Reds right-back Nathaniel Clyne on loan until the end of the season.
"The club is going somewhere - it's a good club to be at, especially for someone of my age," said Solanke. Cherries boss Eddie Howe said he was "really excited" about working with Solanke.

"Dominic is technically gifted, very athletic and has the physical profile that will give us something different in our front line," said Howe. Solanke, a former England youth international who has one senior cap against Brazil in 2017, joined Liverpool from Chelsea in 2017 after his contract at Stamford Bridge ended.

The two clubs eventually came to an agreement over the fee, which had been due to be set by a tribunal.
He did not make a first-team appearance for the Premier League leaders this season and was ruled out of recent matches because of a muscle problem. The Under-20 World Cup winner made 21 appearances last season, 16 of which were from the bench, scoring one goal.

He never made a senior league appearance in three years at Chelsea, spending the 2015-16 season on loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem, where he scored seven goals in 25 Eredivisie appearances.

Solanke seems a strange one, unless they are preparing for Wilson to leave (to us would be nice).

Clyne however is a great shout. Decent player. Man of the match for Liverpool last time he played in my eyes. Good signing for them.

Flip I forgot about Origi. What an anti climax he has been. To be honest I think Liverpool letting go of anyone is rookie in the position they are in.. Unless they know for sure their squad is growing this month. Couple of injuries, squad depth depletes and Klopp starts gurning.... Good Times ahead!

Our experience of Kane,Bale,Lamela,Sissoko shows it can take years for a great player to come out,if you train, teach, coach them.Klopp clearly has no self belief in this talent. We wonder why KWP is still with us,wont be a suprise if next year he is tearing up teams, poch may be able to bring this out of him,If anything keep the youth and lose the other deadbeats they have.Klopp treated sturridge like Mourinio treated shaw, suprised both rode it out so long, cruel to be kind isnt what most players need.

I think 2 things have happened to us over the years. 1 is levy didn't give some managers the option and players stepped up their game monumentally with time on the field they maybe didn't deserve. Number 2 is now we have Poch and staff who can work magic on a players confidence and ability and a youth system setup to make them succeed when asked to step up.

Mourinho is the most prime example of putting a player down to bring them up and I think we can see how well that works in this day and age.

Yeah, Shame really otherwise we might have had a chance of adding Pogba or Martial to the squad, not now.

Right, name names, who do we really need that might have a chance of being realistic, not necessarily in January but Summer perhaps.

Honestly I don’t know, but read that Eriksen might seriously be off - for non footballing reasons, he might want to experience a ‘different culture’....I think he means tapas rather than fish & chips?

If PSG don't have to tear their team apart from some fair play rule I'd go in balls deep for Julian Draxler. Unless things have dramatically changed for him recently he's been struggling to fit in their. Perfect swap for Eriksen. Can't believe we have to consider the possibility of him leaving. Disappointing.

We'd have to replace him or rely on Dele to provide all the ammo.

Heard a while back that Barca are interested in Eriksen and would be willing to let Coutinho go too. Could be another option worth perusing if Eriksen is off....

Cuntinho is brilliant but I couldn't see him in a Spurs Jersey to be honest.

Neither could I to be fair, but stranger things have happened and we wouldn't be the worst option for a player like him.

Not quite a kid, but young, and quality. His goal at Wembley against us was class. All rumours and bollocks at the moment, mainly bollocks to be fair. We'll see though.

Poch on transfers: "It's not dependent on some leaving. It's about finding the right player who fits for us, not only the football side but someone who fits in all areas. Summer is difficult but winter worse. I don't expect to add players but if we have an opportunity we'll try."

Spanish teenager Brahim Diaz has signed for Real Madrid from Manchester City on a six-and-a-half-year contract.

The 19-year-old midfielder joined City from Malaga aged 14 in 2013 and made 15 first-team appearances, but has played only four times this season.

The Spain Under-21 international's most recent outing came in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at Leicester last month.
Real, who lost 2-0 at home to Real Sociedad on Sunday and are fifth in La Liga, are understood to have paid £15m.

Diaz, who will have a medical on Monday and be presented to the media at the Bernabeu, has signed a contract until June 2025.

The deal, which includes a further £6.5m in add-ons, also features a 15% sell-on fee but it is understood that figure would rise to 40% should Real sell him to Manchester United.

Used to be english academies that raided europe for talent, nowadays it is the reverse, germany having taken one of our youngsters,Sancho to dortmund, madrid after hudson odoi from chelsea (alledgedly),you may ask what is going on?

Well naturally things have gone full circle and with most of the top PL teams not playing academy products, they are seeking chances elsewhere.Understandable if some clubs show no progression at all to 1st team football and chances nil or very limited to stake claims.Managers getting no time, financial doldrums for no CL football, the way the media slates you if its not here and now......If clubs arent brave it will continue and who can blame these kids.We cant simply hold Kane up as holier than thou because he is a freak of nature, but winks, kwp and now skipp are all truly in the squad now.2 other kids got time in the cup with debuts.City by comparison had Foden and one other on the bench who didnt get on(keeper i think),a bench with danillo, laporte, sane, fernandinio, silva, muric, what room for up and coming??or would you just fuck off now??United pretty much the same, mactominay started, rashford came on.Chelsea only had Hudson-odoi starting and no kids on the bench, they had a kid signed from exeter starting, but as I am not claiming danny rose neither can they!!Liverpool have trent-arnold,who else??we will see tonight.City, united, chelsea all had home ties to lower division sides,if not then, then when??
Something has to change or the cream of youth will leave these clubs, not suprising it has started.

Why bother having a youth set up?
the Chelsea's and Madrid's of this world use their crop of young players to harvest financial gain mostly. Some of them make it but most make it elsewhere. Through wealthy financial ownership they buy what they need when they need it - although in Chelsea's case they have been very poor at doing that effectively. Robben went to Bayern, Salah let go recently, and a whole crop of strikers.

If clickbait transfer speculation is your thing, then this is from the BBC Sport website.

Manchester United have opened talks with Barcelona to sign their Brazilian attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho, 26, but any offer would need to exceed a £100m base fee. (Caught Offside)

Real Madrid have begun a move to try to sign Denmark attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen, 26, from Tottenham and are preparing what they hope will be a £100m deal. (Independent)

I mean if any of this were true then some sort of swap deal might make sense (to us)

The Miguel Delaney (who's pretty reputable) story on Eriksen was essentially that Barca were no longer interested, and Madrid wanted either him or Hazard. Eriksen would go to Madrid, but is happy to stay if that falls through. It wasn't really sensational stuff, and I suspect there's something to it given that he's not signed a new deal.

But definitely Solari, and possibly even Florentino Perez, are in jeopardy given their results, and who knows who the next manager will want? Eriksen under the likes of Mourinho would be pointless.
