We would certainly need a replacement then. Gil isn't there yet (at least for the prem) if he doesn't go. Lucas is a top professional, Spurs through and through and a super sub that works his socks off.

There’s also the small matter of him only having a year left on his contract so it wouldn’t make any sense to have an option to buy when he’ll be available on a free.
Ideally he’ll stay until the end of the season and we can let him go on a free.
