The young lad we’ve signed from Sheffield United is apparently a lifelong Spurs fan and rated very highly as a striking prospect.

Apparently deadline day for us is expected to be “uneventful” but also that something could still happen if Paratici gets his little black book out.

So the whole Dan James because he’s HG is bullshit. He isn’t HG and that being the case I don’t see the point.

Would prefer to keep Gil.

The whole situation with Gil baffles me. He’s got pace and skill and can go past people so why are we not keeping him and trying to develop him in to. Premier League player ?

I can’t imagine we’d sign anyone particularly better than him today so keeping him would certainly be the better option.

What

That's us done then...

At least the reserves will have him to rely on.
I can't see why he can't be used in the early rounds of the League and FA Cup personally, but I suppose his "problem" is that he's more of an out an out winger than a Conte-type player who needs to track back and defend.

Definitely looks like we're finished for this window. There's apparently still a question mark over Memphis Depay as he still seemingly wants to move on, but he's also been quoted as specifically not wanting to come to us as well.

Interesting. Fulham have apparently just signed Carlos Vinicius for just £5m

Well there we go, as of right now, we've basically improved our first XI in one position (Perisic).

I'm not overly impressed, yes we've improved our squad but where's the top class CB we were crying out for? We ended up with some bloke from Barca on loan that i've never heard of, and we still have no creative/attacking mid. Still have Royal as our starting RWB, although hopeful Spence can be the player we all hope.
In the most part, our top 4 competition have all improved at least 2 or 3 starting XI positions. Personally, i think given how it started we've had a fairly average window, i'm a little disappointed, and feel we've been left behind AGAIN.

The positives, i guess is that we still have the individuals to win us games, and once Bissouma properly settles in, he could be a beast but we still look so one dimensional, and the defence and midfield worry me. We'll see!

You know, I reckon he will do well there. Could see him getting double digit goals for them.

Good player in my opinion. Not our level but certainly better than plenty of strikers going around.

I hadn't really thought about this window in the way you've described it, but I think you're right, and it's why Conte said the club need two more windows to compete for the title. Not optimistic that we'll see the kind of sustained investment that he's talking about (nor, if I'm honest, that he'll even be here for two more windows in any case).

As for attacking midfielders, unfortunately it's just not the kind of player that fits in his system--see Eriksen, at least at first, at Inter--and was never going to be a priority for him. I think Bissouma will be good for us, and give us a little cut and thrust out of midfield. Interesting to see who he replaces. Personally I'd drop PEH, as Bentancur has more quality to go with the graft.

Honestly not sure how to feel about this team. It's as talented a group as we've seen, but I'm not wild to say the least about the football, though I'd back us to continue getting results.

I find it funny you guys assume Conte didn’t get exactly what he wanted this window.

You might be right, but he made it pretty clear that he wasn’t interested in Spence in particular.

The player I feel sorry for in all this is Reguilon. Never really got a chance under Conte. He must be miserable.

Here's his presser today. Short version: he is happy with what we got, but repeats that Spence and Udogie were decisions made by the club, and makes it very clear that more players are needed. Acknowledges that there are multiple windows needed to build a squad capable of competing for a title.

Surely though mate, if Conte’s such a good coach, he must be able to have the ability to change formation from time to time. I mean Christ we play 3 at the back and still effectively have 2 DMs in the middle of the park. Bentancur can look like a Rolls Royce at times but he does have games where he sits so deep, and has this play it safe mentality.

It’s those tight games, where teams sit back on us, and we look utterly toothless, where a proper ball playing attacking mid could make the difference.

I do believe Conte would still have had to approve Spence and Udogie even if it was "the club" (Levy ?) who signed them. I'm sure I read a comment from Ally Gold where he was pretty insistent that Conte had final say on all incomings. But then I also think that if Conte was having players foisted on him by Levy that he didn't want, he just wouldn't play them for starters and he'd likely just tell Levy to fuck off and walk.

He's certainly correct that we need more signings but I have to say I'm pretty happy with the window personally. We've improved the squad, which we desperately needed to do. Sure, we might not necessarily have improved the team all that much, Perisic aside, but we needed a bench and we needed a better squad so that we could at least have a level of quality in the cups without having to play a mixture of reserves and kids and I think we've (almost) got that now.

Looks to me we have built a team more capable of competing in a couple of comps and could withstand a few injuries. We are light at centre back though.

Perisic and Bissouma will be solid and I actually think Bissouma has already made Hojberg step up a bit.

Once Son gets up and running it'll be like another new signing lol.

Skipp need to take his opportunity when it inevitably presents its self. I hope Conte doesn't freeze him out ala Regulion, Winks, Moura as he and Bentancur I think could work well.

Apparently United offered Eriksen £200k a week and a £12 million signing on fee. No wonder we pulled out.

With today's PL wages and transfer fees, He's the bargain of the season. He's exactly what we don't have in our midfield.
