We can't lose Romero to Atleti. That is a really bad look for us. If Barca or Real don't come calling, then keep him around. He's a bit nuts, but his passing would be hard to replace.
I don't know. Good player, aside from the red mist from time to time he seems to be injured often. I hope he stays but for the right price, I'd say it's reasonable to sell him provided a replacement was brought in.

Danso isn't a replacement... That is for certain.

The amount of absolute bullshit in the media is crazy considering the season has just finished.

Apparently Fraser Forster, Alfie Whiteman, and Sergio Reguilon will all be leaving on free transfers when their contracts expire on the 30th of June.

Alfie Whiteman is like part of the furniture at this point.

I think we should hire a defensive set-piece coach. Maybe Brian Epstein?

Rumour that Ben Davies is talking to Wrexham about a free transfer.

If it panned out would be a great move for him and a chance to play regularly as he nears the end of his career.

Ryan Mason also apparently considering an offer to become West Brom’s manager as his contract is also expiring.

I've always been a fan of those that put in an honest & 100% efforts regardless of their abilities. Davies has been one of those. Wish his all the best wherever he may land.

Apparently Danso’s loan deal has now been made a permanent transfer due to the obligation to buy kicking in.

Also .. Timo Werner has gone ..

The trouble is mate...I'd put in 100% and you'd fucking boo me every week...

It's not enough at this level to work hard... It's simply not.

All I'm saying, is if they are giving all they've got, you can't blame them.
You blame those that brought them in.

This is true, but I wouldn’t say that necessarily applies to Davies. Very good player until he lost a step over the last year or so.

Budget: Winning the Europa League was worth an estimated £100m in extra revenue and Spurs were already comfortably compliant with PSR rules, so it is a question of how ambitious they want to be.

What does the team need? This depends on who you ask. Ange Postecoglou's position as head coach is uncertain, but to continue with his style they need at least one central midfielder, another option across the front line and a backup left back. Postecoglou says he believes more experience needs to be added with Champions League football imminent. And a center back will be required if Cristian Romero departs to Atlético Madrid.

Who are the major targets? Again, it is difficult without knowing who the manager will be. Spurs hold an interest in RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons. They also have negotiated a first option to sign Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis for €25m (though he looks set to join Atlético) and have also been linked with Leipzig striker Sesko. Lille striker Jonathan David has been repeatedly linked and is available on a free transfer, while 18-year-old defender Luka Vuskovic will join from Hadjuk Split in a deal that was agreed to in 2023.

Who could be leaving? Spurs face a major fight to keep Romero as Atlético are expected to make a concerted effort to sign the center back and there are suggestions he would be interested in the move. Postecoglou became frustrated with Richarlison's inability to stay fit for sustained periods and the club could be willing to listen to offers. Spurs must decide whether to move on from midfielder Yves Bissouma or hand him a new deal given there is only a year left on his contract. Timo Werner will return to Leipzig at the end of his loan; Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon were out on loan and must find new clubs. A decision will be taken on whether to make Mathys Tel's loan move from Bayern Munich permanent for a fee of €60m.

Any new contracts? Spurs are talking to midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur about a new contract with 12 months left to run on his existing deal. Mikey Moore has two years left, but the teenage forward is a hugely promising talent and an extension would be welcome. -- Olley

I suppose this counts as a transfer but Ryan Mason has been appointed as West Brom's manager. It'll be interesting to see how he does now he's legitimately got the opportunity to coach the way he wants to.

Everton issue hands-off warning on star linked with Man United and FOUR other Premier League giants - but a bid of £70m would test Toffees' resolve

Everton are telling suitors that Jarrad Branthwaite is not for sale this summer.

Chelsea have been weighing up an approach and Tottenham are still expected to test the water but manager David Moyes wants the England international defender to stay.

Moyes is mindful of how important Branthwaite has become as part of a miserly defence alongside James Tarkowski, Jake O'Brien and Jordan Pickford.

He wants to keep that core foundation as Everton make the transition from Goodison Park to their new stadium at Bramley Moore and will rely on Branthwaite further with Tarkowski recovering from hamstring surgery.

Branthwaite is keen to make the step up to playing Champions League football and England manager Thomas Tuchel is understood to have echoed that need for the 22-year old to play at a higher level to earn more frequent international recognition.

Everton had previously been realistic with the shadow of Profit and Sustainability Rules looming over them that if they received a substantial bid in the region of £70million then that would be considered but Moyes hopes new owners the Friedkin Group can resist any advances for this summer at least.

Manchester United were rebuffed with £50m offers last year while Liverpool and Manchester City have also kept a close eye on the left-sided centre back.

Chelsea are expected to revert to targets such as Ajax defender Jorrel Hato and Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace.

Tottenham may yet test Everton's resolve but their priority is to sort out their management position first with Ange Postecoglou expecting clarity on his future this week.

Everton, meanwhile, retain an interest in Liverpool winger Ben Doak but have still to progress anything regarding a deal.

He’s definitely worked for managers with a wide range of styles. It’ll be interesting to see how Albion play under him.

He's definitely had a tough apprenticeship... He's seen the absolute highs and lows with us over his time predominantly in the number 2 seat.

Good luck to the lad I genuinely hope he kicks arse.

All of the managers he's worked with have all rated him pretty highly as well.

It's a good place to start his managerial career as I think there's going to be very little pressure on him.

Seems a legitimately good guy as well. Hopefully he does great there and comes home in a few years.

I hear the holdup is because buyers - probably petrostate blowhards - want to take over but don't want Levy as chairman. He's digging in his heels so there's a whole Succession-style boardroom war going on whilst Uncle Joe's offspring try to force the bald prick out the door so they can cash in.

And no, I don't have any links to share. My source is another middle-age Yid on my five-a-side team who heard it from a mate who read it on Twitter or some such rumour mill.

Not sure how I feel about it if true. There are no angels with the resources to buy us, and I hate Levy as much as anyone else, but I want to continue sneering at Newcastle and Man City and the like. I can't have fans of a club that play in a stadium called The Emirates casting aspersions on our ownership.

After we stomp them in the NLD this fall, of course.

Pretty much sums up how I feel.
