Alasdair Gold has claimed it was because we had the maximum number of internationals out on loan so the only way he could move was a mutual termination, but I suspect you're also right as well as it was probably too late to actually arrange a proper transfer.

It's also said his contract with Atletico is only until the end of the season anyway which is obviously leading to speculation that we'll re-sign him on a free at the end of the season which I don't think will happen.

Nah, he’s not coming back.

Good luck to him though. Seems like a perfectly nice guy and good pro.

I suppose we can add this one to Levy's classic transfer dealings. Giving Sevilla £21 plus Erik Lamela and Bryan Gil and now writing off probably £15-£20m on a player because he likely forgot he loaned out an entire team of players.

Just a little snippet from an article by Alasdair Gold ..

Spurs already had Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Reguilon, Bryan Gil, Harry Winks, Rodon, Spence and Destiny Udogie out on loan. From that alone it's worth noting that the club's transfer policies have been so poor and their ability to sell players so bad that they have seven signings that cost them around £215million sitting out on loan at other clubs.

We are the opposite of Chelsea when it comes to loans. They sign several young prospects on the cheap and loan them out for fees and then sell them for a huge profit. We spend huge money on young players, have them rot on our bench, publicly ridicule them, and then loan them out for nothing until we sell them at a huge loss. You tell me which strategy is more financially prudent.

Rupture a knee ligament and needs surgery, decent little player who would have been decent for us.

In a move that will surprise literally nobody, Djed Spence has received rave reviews for his first outing for Rennes.

In the Great Book of Football in the chapter titled Player Mistreatment there will be a picture of Djed Spence. And another one of Bryan Gil.

I mean, it is truly fucking ridiculous that Conte didn't give him (them) opportunities.

I'm not that upset by the Bryan Gil loan to Sevilla. He has no place in a Conte team, so let's put the sports car back in the garage until we get the next driver, who might appreciate its capabilities.

I think this kind of counts. A claim we have a "gentleman's agreement" with Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Altay Bayındır to sign for free in the summer. It appears to be a level of forward planning that we're not exactly renowned for, so certainly worth taking with a pinch of salt.

If one things for certain its that a gentleman's agreement with Daniel Levy is something you can take to the bank.

To paraphrase a post in this thread .. Brighton wanted £30m. We bid £12m. Arsenal got him for £27m

His current form for them .. 9 matches, 1 goal and 5 assists - 3 of which came in the first half against Fulham today.

Sonny, as a comparison, has 3 assists in 22 games. But hey, we signed Danjuma to provide the creativity we're missing out on ..

His agent had some scathing comments around the way we went about it too.
