Alasdair Gold snippets from todays article:

football.london understands that Spurs plan to secure a long-term successor to Hugo Lloris in the summer and it would take a remarkable opportunity to arise in the final hours for that timetable to shift forward.

Re: Hincapie
However, a summer deal is currently seen as more likely for anyone chasing the 6ft defender unless a still pricey loan-back agreement can be made with the Bundesliga club who are not keen on losing him this month.

Spurs want to sign two centre-backs in the summer, one on the left and one for the right/centre, and while they will keep an eye out for any late opportunities to push one of those moves forward, that is deemed more unlikely than likely at this point.

Only two R(W)Bs on the books then. Makes sense.
In a way, until you consider that the second one is Emerson Royal. We let Doherty and Spence go out on loan and choose to keep Emerson fucking Royal

and he is better than Spence and Doherty.
Only just, if so. He’s not a very good premier league wing back, which is a problem when our entire system depends on having good wing backs.

Well you got one part right .. Doherty's loan is, in fact, a permanent move as we've mutally agreed to terminate his contract.

A real shame but can't say i'm too surprised I suppose.

Does this mean Conte is here beyond the summer or does it mean diddly ? No point in him bringing in players if he's going to walk ? Or sacked if we don't get top 4..

Yeah bit surprised by that one. Didn't really get upto the heights he could have, but I thought he did well when he actually got a run last season. Royal is more athletic, but Doherty could see an assist. Why the fuck can't we get someone that can be both!

The guys bonkers so just have to wait and see I guess. If he starts gurning in 3 days cause Levy didn't buy 16 players then the writings on the wall.

Basically we left it too late to get a fee I suppose.

It does seem strange to go to so much effort to sign a player the manager has supposedly specifically requested if there's no chance he'll stay beyond the end of the season.

I did read something a while back that claimed he would stay until he wins something with us so I suppose it's entirely feasible that if we do win the FA Cup that he could walk - even more so if he also manages to get us back into the Champions League again for next season.

He could claim his tenure was a success and he wouldn't be far wrong I suppose.

Alasdair Gold has claimed it was because we had the maximum number of internationals out on loan so the only way he could move was a mutual termination, but I suspect you're also right as well as it was probably too late to actually arrange a proper transfer.

It's also said his contract with Atletico is only until the end of the season anyway which is obviously leading to speculation that we'll re-sign him on a free at the end of the season which I don't think will happen.
