Mate, I know you've spoken truth... But this type of shit happens in the Congo. It happens in Botswana. It happens in Lao.

Like I said up the page, your democracy is dangling by a thread and unless someone grips it hard and makes some decisions to reinstate it's integrity, you will lose it eventually.

At that point the world changes and a new arms race begins in order to ensure that the global protection the US provided can be reinstated by home nations.

I think I'll wait up and see the early results roll in.

Good luck guys.
This is, IMO, exactly what's at stake over the next 24 hours or so. The thing about a democracy is that people have to make the decisions you're talking about. We'll see if they did.

Just woken up to this news. Astonishing but equally not surprising. And you know that, no matter how bad things get, those who voted for him will keep explaining everything away.

I feel for those in Ukraine as well. It's probably just a matter of time now before the country falls to Russia.

I know two of the Supreme Court judges are nearing retirement so Trump will appoint another two young hardliners to give them an overall conservative majority for the next 20+ years.

It's apparently now all over and he's been formally confirmed as the winner.

My concern is for the wider world and the potential for global upheaval but the people who voted for him in the US really do deserve everything that's coming to them.

I was listening to someone the other day who said that the last time there were "just" enough adults in the room to prevent an utter catastrophe but it won't be like that this time as he'll surround himself with people who are willing to bend the knee, regardless of their qualifications or suitability.

I would imagine Israel is happy with the result but Ukraine won’t be and the World probably isn’t a safer place

Apparently the US Dollar and Bitcoin have soared on the news.

Also saying Kamala’s campaign was the worst in living memory.
If you can't beat a habitually lying 70 year old man baby convicted felling, you've got to ask yourself some serious questions...

America has to weather the next 4 years as best they can and then prove they are adults again. This pathetic orange shit gibbon will now be trying to cling onto power from those within, as their project now has no further use for him.

We’re in same boat having to weather a lying, nonce sympathiser for the next 4+ years!

I wonder if Starmer will slap Lammy down for insulting Trump saying that he won’t be welcome in this county?

I see he sent Trump warm congratulations for this victory!

Lmfao 🤣

That... I think is the absolute truth...!

Humanity learns slowly...

Personally, the UK needs to think long term about what this means and what the next general election will bring in terms of a right wing leaning challenge, and how we position ourselves as a country outside of Europe and with strained ties with Merica...

The Tories were bad but it could be much fucking worse... And will be when Fartrage tries to install his goose-stepping rhetoric as the new Tory leader...!

Well you have a Tory lite leader now

Certainly not the Labour I used to vote and canvas for

Farage won’t be a Tory leader imv but I can see the Tories doing a deal with Reform in a few years and Tice might be leader of that Coalition

I don’t see Starmer lasting to the next election either thankfully

Maybe, but as I said, it could be worse... I think Kier will surprise many. I think he is driven to change the country for the better and I'm, while he may not be your flavour of Left his is the best left option we have...

What's you opinion of Corbyn...?

Jeremy or his nutty brother Piers?

I didn’t like his Unilateralism and neither did the Electorate allowing Johnson to get in with a 80+ majority

He took one for the team going on a motorcycle holiday in East Germany with Dianne Abbott though I’ll give him that!!

No my politics would be John Smith the best PM we never had!

Since then it’s gone downhill and I’m talking about both sides of the house!

Pointless discussing Starmer as you know what I think of him and you won’t change my mind

You like him so fair dos if that’s your opinion

Do you think that he should sideline Lammy?

Nah, I don't disagree with Lammy...

I assume we agree when I say "Fuck Fascists"...

America need to remember that while we need them from a protection perspective, they also need us, as a strategic military partner...

I'm inclined to tell them to stick their special relationship up their arse until they show us what we're getting out of the relationship, allowing them to house dozens of USAF bases and some proper naughty gear on our little island... They'd be much weaker if we told them we want them out.

If we want protection we can rebuild our own military, and in the current climate I'd argue it's not a bad move to have the boots ready to march...

As for Corbyn he was as bigger cunt as any Tory. He did nothing to stop Johnson or progress his, Labours or any fucking agenda... He did fuck all, he acted like fucking Switzerland and that included ploughing into the Labour chocolate... 🤮

The entire Democratic party needs a reboot. Stop listening to 19yr olds and start listening to adults. They botched this from start to finish. They should have pushed Biden out last year and and had a proper primary. And while it's sad and pathetic, the honest truth is that a woman is not going to beat a man in a presidential election in this country. Any male democrat wins this easily (maybe even a senile Biden). And now???? Who knows? It could be bearable but it could also get really really dark and ugly. And we don't have it so bad. Imagine being a Ukranian today? Nightmare scenario. Their country is probably toast because of this oversized child.

I don’t like extremism so that includes Fascists or Marxists like Corbyn

As for the USA they will probably say that we’re enjoying the protection of NATO to which they contribute the most and we may well need them to stay in it as I don’t like these alignments between Russia and, Iran, China and Nth Korea springing up.

That’s the main thing worrying me about Trump is that he seemingly rates Putin or is that all bollox?

I’m pro Israeli so in that respect it was good that Trump got in but I’m also pro Ukraine and have friends from both countries

Difficult times ahead!

Did you see the film The Apprentice?

Not sure if it was factual but it didn’t portray him in a good light!

Great performance from Jeremy Strong as his lawyer , Cohn

He was also good in Succession!

Every time a new US president gets elected, the world gets a little less safe. It usually means a change of foreign policy and that inconsistency alone gives other countries reason to be less reliable on the US.

After the end of the cold war, it should have been a turning point for the world order. The west should have been building closer ties with Russia (as Clinton/Yeltsin seemed to be doing).

Move forward and you have the focus on the "War on Terror" under Bush, the Russian/US relationships from the outside seemed fairly strong at first, but eroded (for many reasons)

Then Obama, changed political direction, supported the Arab Spring which lead to the emergence of the likes of ISIS,l along with Russia becoming more paranoid towards the west.

Then we got Trump, focusing his foreign policy on being anti Chinese, but subduing the Russians.

Then Biden who had to keep up the anti Chinese rhetoric whilst then standing up against Russia.

And now back to Trump...

Very snapshotish and lacking detail but it is becoming more apparent that smaller nations are needing or wanting to see the US and the west as less reliable partners, when they have the opportunity to trade with the consistently of an autocratic emerging world power to trade with e.g. China.

You can't be the lynchpin of a world order if you keep flip flopping your foreign policy. This election feels like democracy itself is under threat.

Scary.

Scary indeed and some good points which makes me think that we should be spending more on defence and supporting NATO

We haven’t mentioned India who is getting cheap oil from Russia and they’re no friends of China or Iran

Just the fact there (allegedly) North Korean soldiers boots in Europe is a barometer on where the world could be heading. They should have no business there.
