I make no apologies for the following rant:

As a formerly proud fan of the Australian football team, I say on behalf of most sensible Socceroo supporters that the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) can go and fuck itself. This organisation has systematically ripped the guts out of the sport in my country and last night's performance against a side with nothing to play for was representative of the lukewarm carcass that football in Australia has become.

For the last 4 years my national team has been managed by a clown named Ange Postecoglou. After overseeing three losses at the 2014 World Cup, Ange's only achievement of note was a fluke Asian Cup win. That aside, Ange took the entirety of his tenure to fail in coming up with his best 11 players and the same period in failing to adopt a style of play that suits their limited talents. Ange spent his whole tenure chopping and changing the squad whilst implementing game theory akin to a ten-year-old playing FIFA. This fraud finally vacated his post in late 2017 without ever knowing which players were good enough and which were not. He resigned, six months out from a World Cup. Surprisingly, he was not sacked after playing out his grievances with everyone from the boot-studder to the Establishment via the media. Like a petulant child.

Bert Van Marwijk was then "employed" by the FFA to oversee our World Cup campaign and clean up the considerable mess left by his predecessor. By employed, I mean that he was given the managerial position as well as an incumbent band of failed assistants and told that if he wants to bring in his own people that he must pay for them out of his own pocket. Van Marwijk is given approximately 5 months to get this team in order before the tournament, whilst being under the scrutiny of a media that knows nothing about football and a public that watch three games every four years (when we qualify!) whilst wearing their Wallaby jerseys. Van Marwijk, who is a world-class manager is roundly criticised by FFA shills like Robbie Slater and Mark Bosnich for leaving out a decrepit 38-year-old has been, a man who was only in the squad so that the FFA could encourage the ignorant and the stupid to watch in the misguided belief that we had picked the white Roger Milla and not some guy who has played 1 hour of football for Milwall in 6 months. Anything to get the TV ratings up and convince the observing sheep that football is on the right path in this country. Meanwhile these FFA cunts are siphoning off cash to washed up stars like David Villa who make a few guest appearances for big money, instead of re-investing the dough on grass roots football to develop our next crop of Socceroos. And who pays for this? Children. Kids who want to play football but are forced into more economically viable sports like...well like just about anything else because the pigs at the FFA have priced the sport out of the reach of many families.

And last night, in my view things came to a logical and sorry conclusion. I hope the FFA burns to the ground and that every corrupt oxygen-stealing cunt that works there ends up in the unemployment queue.

Rant over (for now).

never looks good these days does he.....but to be fair he may have been baited throughout the match by fans below him.

Probably so.
I heard he actually had to be carried out from his seat (too much to drink/smoke/snort/inject...?)

Hey, at least you qualified.

Mate, we fell in. 5th best team in Asia FFS.

And what do the twats out here do? They blame the new gaffer who has had a meagre 5 months in the role and was left a right mess to clean up. Why? Because he didn't give precious Timmy Cahill a game against Denmark or France.

As if a 38 year old who can't get a game at Milwall was going to save us. Give me a spell.

I mentioned it once and I think I got away with it , don’t mention the VAR
So did Germany get further into Russia this year or 75 years ago, we all know the last time they went out in the group stages, back in 1938 , we all know how well they took that and just 15 months later all he’ll broke loose

It is quite amazing how even all the round of 16 matchups are. The only game I'd dare guarantee a winner would be Spain over Russia, and as the host nation, even that isn't a given. Should be some nervy stuff.

Thought that was a cracking day of footy! It always goes up a gear in the knockout stages. France V Uruguay will be a good quarter final too. With the Argies and Portugal going out, Germany out, Italy not qualifying this has got to be the best opportunity we've had to have a go at it in a long time!
