First post in this thread cos I was determined to ignore the world cup before it started.

I haven't though because it's been magnificent. And so many of us thought it would be shit. Fair play Russia.
100% agree....don’t think I’ve ever watched a Belgium match (apart from that David Platt one) in my life, and never Japan but what a game.

To be fair, Vertonghen was entirely culpable for Japan's opener.

He more than made up for it though with that magnificent header that was placed exactly where he wanted it to be and done quite on purpose.
But he was totally exposed. Didn't know whether to commit or not on the pass, which was played out with very little pressure and through space that should have been occupied by a holding midfielder (and would have been in our setup). He made a mistake, but I think the bigger issue is Martinez's tactics, which may cause problems against Brazil. As Guus Hiddink was pointing out in the analysis over here, Mousa would provide some stability in the middle that they could use.

Anyone else notice that Colombian player scuffing up the penalty spot before Kane's regulation time goal?

Found many of their players to be massive pricks during that match.

The filthy pricks should have been playing with 10 men well before that as well.

I'd love to see England win the whole thing. As an Aussie I feel dirty even typing that.

All 3 of our boys scored their penalties.

Trippiers penalty was excellent as well. Not even just good. Excellent.

In other news it actually was the chap that headbutted Hendo that was saved by Pickford. Call that some karma.

I'm half English half Aussie, so you know, conflicts... but I supported them both.

Any injuries after last night, Dele looked a bit dodge and Harry could barely run at the end?

He looked fucked from the off... poor game from him I think, but not entirely his own doing.

Oh and Raheem Sterling is a steaming pile of horse shit. Speed and fuck all else.

Really seems as if he has no footballing sense at all.

Think it's time to drop Sterling and move Alli into playing behind Kane as he's used to. I'd play Loftus-Cheek in the midfield position. Personaly I think this would mean both Rashfprd and Sterling could be impact subs if needed.
