Amazing how difficult management can be when you don't manage the best team in your domestic league.

No win in 4 for Pep...has he been found out ;)

It's utter bollocks how UEFA can allow fans to bring in a raging inferno to a premier league ground that bans spectators from smoking. Nothing short of absolutely ridiculous. For the record I like an atmosphere and this sort of thing adds to it but on this scale sooner or later it will result in deaths, can't get my head around what are the crowd safety rules and who applies them.

I'm guessing the security guys aren't used to it so they don't realise how they can be smuggled in.

At spurs the cops have sniffer dogs for explosives to detect and deter such things, maybe the MET police have more resources?Dont think it could occur on such a scale at spurs with the security I have seen, yes an odd one can slip through but not dozens.

Now that I am in the rather smug position of having secured two tickets for Monaco away does anyone know where our lads will meet prior to the game for a few beers and a bit of a sing song. I assume there's some stuff somewhere having done this trip last year in the Europa League and assume the same will happen again, but I can't find it on the internet and to be honest it's often the best part of the away games.

Any help welcome, I didn't do the EL game last year.

Liverpool and Spurs top table of Europa League payments
2nd November 2016
Europa_League_logo.jpeg

November 2 – Being the poor relation doesn’t necessarily mean poverty. UEFA’s 56 Europa League clubs shared €411.1 million in payments for the last season of competition. Although a far cry from the €1.345 billion shared by the 42 Champions League clubs, it was a whopping €240 million increase on the 2014/15 season.

ICYMI
Losing finalists Liverpool (€37.8 million),Tottenham Hotspur FC (€20.8 million),Villareal (€16.4 million) and S.S. Lazio (€15.3 million),were the highest earning clubs.

Sevilla, who won the Europa League, received €13.8 million, less than Liverpool as Sevilla entered the competition at the 32-club knockout round and so missed the performance bonuses of the group matches. Sevilla earned €21.1 million from the Champions League participation.

Europa League clubs receive €2.4 million for participation at the group stages and then more for group wins or draw, as well as a share of the market pool based on the size of their domestic TV market and the rights fees spent on the championship.

The 24 clubs qualifying to the round of 32, where they join eight clubs knocked out of the Champions League, receive a further €500,000.

Payments for the round of 16 go up to €750,000, €1 million for quarter final qualification and €1.5 million for semi-finals. The winner of the Europa League receives €6.5 million and #3.5 million goes to the losing finalist.

Pep is he all that?.......;)
Lol. Saw Pep on skysports news this morning saying the best way to defend is to attack well. It left me thinking is he all that too? I mean does he really think that if you just attack load you'll outscore everyone? I was sat in the City end with my mate when we drew 2-2 there and they slaughtered us but couldn't see the game out as their defence is shit. Every City fan can see that but he seems completely oblivious blaming the result on us getting two lucky breaks, surely if City could defend a little bit then teams would get less of these lucky breaks.... I dunno, I haven't won multiple league and champions league titles as a manager like he ahs but even his barca team had a great centre back in Puyol. I get the way he wants to play and when it comes off it looks amazing but you have to have the right players for it,Pique isn't a great centre back when it comes to defending but is a good ball player from the back and is good enough if he has a top class CB next to him who is a leader too but City don't have that as Kompany is rarely fit and Stones needs a leader next to him much like Pique did. When city don't have fabinho in DM they really struggle as there is nobody to cover the defence and Stones is often then left next to a make shift CB in Kolorov.... For a "top" coach he seems not able to notice a young CB and and left back ain't a great pairing.

Any way I've been typing for way too long about Shiteh.

I've not watched much of Monaco but I also like what I have seen of Bernardo Silva.

Lol.....second half has been all City, who should have scored at least 1....Monaco have decided to defend their 2 goal lead and don't look very comfortable doing it....

There's no doubting Cities attacking ability, not many teams can leave Aguero out and be fine with it.... But they concede too many sloppy goals fora top side.

Cheers mate, just realised she's sat on the red and white blanket I hate as well. My Dad bought her the Spurs teddy, not sure why it's in City blue but it's one of the few teddy's/toys that she actually has taken to so I let it go, as long as it says Spurs it'll do for now.

Watching a bit of Bayern vs Real Madrid and wondering how we would match up ....probably lose to both away but not by much, and would stand a good chance at home - WHL not Wembley. Again not by much.

Combination of all three teams?
Neuer
Carvajal Alderwireld, Boetang, Vertonghen, Rose,
Alonso, Dembele
Ronaldo Bale
Kane

No Dele??

More I look back at the Champions League group stages, actually only losing 2-1 to Monaco twice seems like quite a good result now.

I think if Davies was playing we'd struggle big time.

Conspiracy theory - We're getting to that stage again where the big clubs are so rich and powerful that they could threaten to breakaway and form their own league. Although in this case Bayern would also have been in it, so it's likely that the ref was just poor or perhaps 'influenced' by the venue, club and occasion???

I don't buy this independant super breakaway league nonsense anyway. I'd rather see us playing Watford and West Ham, Sunderland and Southampton, rather than Dortmund, Barcelona and Inter Milan every week. I like the English game much more than the European version and the atmosphere between the fans. Going down the Super league route will end in NFL style leagues, with mega owners, and franchises. That would kill football for me.
