Poch,from dortmund presser;
On Erik Lamela
He played for the U23s and he played 60 minutes. After 20 minutes he started to feel something but that’s normal after a year. You can train in two hours, but when you compete you feel different. We are happy with him because it’s important. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks. But we hope he start to feel better and better and be ready to be selected in the first team.

Sounds some way off first team football then.

Wont see him this side of xmas
Looks doubtful. Might get a few mins at the end of a game at best, maybe a few minutes against apoel depending on what we need from that game to top group. Can't see much else for him.

Tissues for @Finchbee please!!

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/tott...amela-may-make-first-team-return-vs-west-brom

Erik Lamela could finally return to action for Tottenham this weekend, with manager Mauricio Pochettino believing the winger holds the key to unlocking defensive opponents at Wembley.

Spurs face struggling West Bromwich Albion at their temporary home on Saturday.

And for a third consecutive weekend, Pochettino will ask Lamela whether he feels ready to return to the squad for the first time since last October after a year of chronic hip problems.

If he is not, another run-out for the Spurs under-23s is likely -- but a yes could see Pochettino throw him into the mix against the Baggies.

Pochettino expects West Brom, under the interim management of Gary Megson after Tony Pulis was sacked, to defend deep.

And asked whether Spurs needed to play with more pace at home against defensive opponents, he said: "To be dynamic, or to have players with high tempo, doesn't mean that they have to run fast.

"If we wanted players to run fast, we'd sign Usain Bolt. That is different.

"We need to increase our tempo within the games, not players with more pace. If we're playing against teams like Palace, Swansea or Burnley that are playing a lot deeper, you don't need pace, you need good individual quality one vs. one.

"[You need players] that can break one vs. one, like Lamela. You need good quality and capacity to drive, and an individual like Lamela can bring that quality to the team.

"We are using it [the width of Wembley's pitch] well. But then sometimes we need players that have the capacity and ability, when players are deeper, to beat the opponent in a short space. It's difficult."

The Spurs boss said Lamela "needs to feel that he's fully recovered," adding: "At the moment he is training again. The other day he played 60 minutes [for the U23s], but he still has some doubts that make him cautious about the step up."

Just thinking about this.

Lamela's hips seemed to be working fine 9 months ago yet he was still out injured.

regardless of his sexual orientation, looks, dog, brother, and any other mental or emotional demons, he is, without doubt quite a good football player. Imagine just how good he would be if he had a right foot as well??

Looking forward to saying welcome back Erik or Erika whatever......

I thought he was going to get sent off.....Yellow wasnt a yellow for me then thought he was going to dive in...

Dele 2 Assists in 1145 Mins, Eriksen 2 assists in 1179 minutes....Lamela 1 assist in 14 mintues !!!

Looked really sharp. His movement to find space and create the goal was sublime.

A real necessity in our team at the moment.

Agreed.
To my eyes, he epitomizes everything that Poch wants in his players.
I just feel Poch would want all his players to be like Lamela & Kane.
Lamela was integral to his game day plans when he was healthy.

He movement & distribution was terrific today.
Can't wait 'til he gets up to game speed & his confidence grows.

Really ? U think ?
Yep, but I am massively intolerant and ant-social, so my opinion will never be the same as a rational not sociopathic type geezer. I expect normal geezers would not even notice things that make me go mental.

Thought he's looking pretty good, except twice last game where he managed to perfectly stop the ball with his heel, giving it directly to a Swansea player. Either way, he's got a creative edge, and he's a tenacious git, so it's good to see him back.

We need him to replace Sisoko... as long as he works box to box. He will naturally look forwards and try to beat players not shit himself and play negatively and backwards at every opportunity. He's so shit.

Looking at him as a Everton/Newcastle level player not a champions league level player
