There's been a cancer in the club for many years now. Manager after manager after manager have walked in with positive aspirations and walked out waving their arms in the air.
It's no longer a coincidence. Whether it's Levy or maybe it's old school staff and fans that have been institutionalised as a result of the last 30 years of just being happy with the mediocre. The "it'll do" attitude. Something has to be done in a very radical way....but with Levy and Lewis, it won't happen.
That press conference was not a good look for the club. The scenes of Spurs fans at the ground celebrating Haaland's goal is embarrassing, regardless of the context of the situation.
The fact is, if our club was run half as well as Arsenal over the last number of seasons, maybe we'd be challenging for trophies instead of being childish about Arsenal winning some.
They've been aggressive and had a plan over 4/5 years. They went out and got the best young midfielder in the PL and spent £100m...done. We sold the best striker in the world and didn't bother signing a replacement. Thats the difference in a nutshell.
Ange is right. And I'll tell ya lads if he walks, I can't see any half decent manager wanting that job unless there is a massive change in personal and attitude that unfortunately has been there for far too long.
Agree.

So did Conte have a point?

Yes, and several others. But Conte conducted himself childishly. Acting like a petulant kid. At least Ange is holding back for now and getting on with it. I'd say he's disappointed in himself over engaging with that fan in that Manor.
How must he feel when he prepares his team for a big game like that, has them ready, it's a full house. Yet discovers his own fans applauding and cheering when City score ?!?
I'm behind Ange 100%.

Ange said he has to go back to the drawing board with some things.
Any ideas ?

Interesting alternative version of what the angry confrontation was about with the fan behind the dug out.
Apparently the fan told Ange it's a shame he didn't get so animated in previous games.
Ange said ....what did you say. ? ...then again .
Then words to the effect of ......Just so I know who you are. Watch you're mouth.

The fan got ejected !!

With Newcastle losing tonight and Chelsea winning it still means we’re not completely home and dry for 5th.

Sure, we only need to avoid defeat against the team who are already down but we’ve shown in the past how capable we are of fucking that up.

You also have to factor in that the squad are also leaving for Australia after the game has finished so are they going to be particularly arsed about putting a shift in ?

I understand that Levy hasn't always provided for his managers, but it is counter intuitive for him to be the one to want to lose & miss out on the CL money. Doesn't make sense.

So which others "within the club" are the ones? The coaching staff? Board members? Youth staff?

Looks like the root of this has been found out. According to the Dustin George-Miller (no idea),several members of Spurs' staff were making comments about how they wanted to lose and that we should play a youth side. Some said this to Ange directly. If true, then his frustration is well justified.
Apparently it was reported in the Athletic by Jack Pitt Brooke, who is a Spurs writer. If true, I'm sure it didn't land well with the manager. But that some staff, many of whom I'm sure are fans, had mixed feelings about the game isn't really surprising.

In a lot of ways, it doesn't really matter what Ange meant, or what some fans felt about the game yesterday. Whether it was somebody in a suit, a groundskeeper, or the tea lady that said we ought to put out the kids Tuesday, the mentality at the top has been plain to see for decades.

Spot on. It is the epitome of a small club mentality.

It's all a bit pointless really, because those blokes were trying to win, there was no complacency or lack of effort so even if some of the staff wanted us to lose, the players said fuck off we're having a go. Like @Style And Glory said, there is no way on earth Levy would put stopping the Goons winning the title above all that lovely money. I'm sure Ange would have let the dickheads responsible know that he was unamused and I like his direct no bollocks attitude, let's see how he gets on next season.

I asked a question because I honestly have no idea what the drawing board had on it.

Yet consistently give no opinions of your own...
This forum is not about me, it's about Spurs. I suggest you keep it to football rather than trying to score points off other posters.

Mate, I’ll give you a bit of advice for free. Most of us have been here for a long time and know which of each other’s buttons are for pushing and which are not. But at the end of the day we all have a respect for each other.

So, earn your fucking stripes before you gob off around here. We are a good group who can cop different opinions but nobody wants the new kid in town showing up and behaving like a pratt.

So longevity equals the entitlement to bully and to be disrespectful.
Nonsense.

Re-read my post. Nobody is bullying you. But you seem well versed in playing the victim.
