I didn’t even bother watching until penalties, because I was so sure it would finish goalless. I generally think some of the criticism Martinez gets is OTT, but you’re right, from what I saw this tournament Ronaldo was pointless. It’s a tough one, because his teammates clearly look up to him, but a better man manager would’ve kept him on the bench at most.

Thought Canada’s speed on the break gave the Argies some trouble in the group game. Have to say the refereeing in this tournament has been laughably bad. Even worse than CONCACAF refs.

For the most part, I like the way Canada are starting to play.
It is still so early in Jesse Marsch's reign but his style is starting to emerge.

As for the reffing... ...so one sided.
Jesse has been right regarding it. "We're not going to be getting the big calls, so live with it & quickly move on."

I can't stand Ronaldo but whatever you might think of him or his me,me,me attitude. He's a living legend. Very rarely will you ever see a player again who'll be at the highest level for over 20 years. I suspect however that this is it for him.
Imo, The reason he's playing is Martinez is yes man. He plays all the "popular " players. Because NOT playing Ronaldo and getting beaten is alot less hassle and less spotlight on him then playing him and going out.
