Austin played some this summer, looked decent enough to me. Forster is a good pro, but can't see him as a valid replacement over a period of a month or more. On the other hand, the fact that Ange has preferred Forster over Austin in the cups kinda suggests to me that he'll go with him in the PL.

Wow, we really need to sign someone, be it a free agent, or from MLS or Belgium, but someone. Forster is nothing more than a backup at this point. He will certainly struggle if he gets an extensive run of games.

Ange said in his presser that he expects him to be out for "months" and that's without any potential setbacks.

But then what decent keeper is going to want to join permanently knowing that he'd be replaced as soon as Vicario is fit to return ?

I think a free agent is certainly the way to go or a loan signing.

Here's how it could work...

Get to half time 3-0 up every game Vics out and then Sub in the kid to get him some game time...

Easy...

Would you take Hugo back if he was up for it?
As a short term option, why not ?

I know he's playing in the US at the moment but if he was physically fit and in decent form then I think we could do worse until the end of the season.

Isn't there a mid-season break in MLS around this time as well ?.

Davies I'm has played himself into another contract extension over the last few weeks...

The fact he and Dragonlad have made us look like we don't miss Romero and VDV is a serious testament to his quality and their immediate partnership...

He has been nothing short of fucking brilliant.

I know I'm far from the first to say this, but he's probably one of the most underappreciated players at this club over the last couple decades. Great pro.

Totally have to agree with this. Never been a first choice when all are fit but always gives 100%. Has handled the CB role really well. Shame they don't do testimonials anymore because he deserves one.

Apparently Vicario is expected back in February.

Heaven forbid Forster gets injured as I wouldn’t put it past Ange to try and tempt Joe Hart out of retirement. He played for him at Celtic and credits him with “saving his career” so you know he’d answer the call if it came.

Mickey also out for another “two to three weeks” with a reoccurrence of his hamstring injury.

Fuck me! Nothin' but bad news over on this here thread.
Romero, VDV and Davies all out for an “extended” period of time apparently.

And supposedly Ange still has no plans to utilise Spence as well, despite this situation.

Also with Davies as cover for LB and CB, it really does show you how bad the transfer window probably was.

The one potential plus out of all of this is that we’re meant to be looking at recalling Ashley Phillips from his loan at Stoke next month which I’d have no problem with as he’s having an excellent season so far.

I'd still like to know who either passed Romero and VDV fit or who decided to ignore the fact that they weren't fit. Whichever....it was an idiotic decision that's going to cost us.
I'd have Dragusin instead of a fit Romero all day long anyway.

I watched Stoke against Sunderland the other day. He didn't have a great game, but their fans seem to rate him very highly. To be fair it was a tough game for defenders, windy and sideways rain. We have to bring in another CB, and this definitely looks the most likely option. (Aside from porn star/CB Dante Cassanova of course)

Even if passed fit they should have only played 20 mins at the end to get some movement in the legs. Starting them was a poor decision!

WTF is going on.
I know. No word on Dragusin yet but highly likely we go in to the Wolves game on Sunday with our entire back line out injured or suspended. Porro will likely play again but he’s probably so fatigued he’ll be about as effective as me playing in that position.

At least Porro didn’t play but for a few minutes yesterday. I don’t want to speak it into being, but my fear is that our attacking players will start dropping after the next two games.

Unfortunately it's a very valid fear. Sonny has been running on empty for god knows how long and Kulusevski must be nearing that point as well.

I saw of bit of hesitancy in Sonny taking players on. Kept turning back more times than not.

As for Kulu, the willingness was there but I found him far less effective than usual.
Also, have never seen him dispossessed as often as he was.
Most likely due to fatigue.

Rumours abound that Udogie is looking at at least 8 weeks out, even potentially needing an operation as well.

If it's true then that's entirely on Ange.

Nah, that's not on Ange... His medical team tell him yes or no at the end of the day...

If they're fit enough to play Ange picks them... Yes there may be pressure on them to green light someone when not fully at it but that's simple risk management...

If there's a mechanism for Ange to override the medical staff then yeah, I'd accept that as being Anges fault, but other than that, not a sniff.

The med team are the ones who carry the can for all of the injuries too... If Ange is working players hard then they have to have things in place to monitor that and to say yes or no regarding injuries or fatigue...

I think the medical side of our operation is showing significant signs of underperformance... Is it because we ain't paying the best money, or because we're not recruiting the best people... Fuck knows but if I was Levy I'd be asking all of them for private meetings and figuring out how we don't have their most important assets (infact behind the Property portfolio, sponsorship deals and entertainment packages there not the most important assets) performing to their full potentials...

I think I maybe answered my own question in this post... They're not he most important assets and therefore get treated as to their perceived importance...

Yeah, unless Ange is going against medical advice it's hard to put it on him. I remember seeing last year that Celtic had a rash of muscle injuries in his first season, and yes, he definitely should've rotated in some youngsters, but he can't be both a physio and a manager.

Your point at the end is spot on. Too much football for these guys. It doesn't matter how much they're paid, their bodies will break down at some point. We're finding out that despite all the matchday amenities, A+ ratings from Deloitte, and Catfish and the Bottlemen shows, football clubs do actually need players.
