Boehly is fully in the driver's seat. Poch will certainly get new players, but who is to say he will want them or if Boehly wants them

I think Boehly will be smart enough to get the hell out of the way. He must realize that recruitment is beyond his scope? If not, Poch will make him realize it.

But therein lies the problem. While with us, I didn't have a great deal of faith in Poch's recruitment. He's a terrific coach & assessor of his own player's ability & temperament but his assessments of other players left something to be desired.

The only decent thing Spurs can do for the rest of the season is go and take Pochettino away from Chelsea after the chavs getting excited about the appointment...

👆 In the grand scheme of things, as we stand, I would consider that a good season.

Yes, snatching Poch from the jaws of those pricks might be the only thing to lift my mood.

RE: the Kompany links, I've watched Burnley quite a bit this season. Their football has been excellent to watch, and he definitely has a presence on the touchline. And he's done it without massive investment, with many of the same players Dyche had playing route one for years.

I think he'd do well, but he would obviously--understandably to be fair--see Spurs as a stepping stone to the City job. I guess that's getting too far ahead of things.

Thing for me at this point is Nagelsmann and Kompany, even Rogers to a lesser extent come with the unknown if they can hack it at Spurs. Sir Poch can. One interview in and the whole spurs community will be onside which will show on match day immediately. Fuck me would anyone boo Sanchez again if Poch said not too lol. Guys a legend. Levy is a fucking moron so he won't do it. The reason why is probably cause everyone else wants Poch and Levy thinks he knows best. Fucking tube.

Correct. IMO Nagelsmann has the air of AVB about him as well—too clever in his own mind, etc

Fuck me this is depressing. Here we are, a shambles from the boardroom to the pitch. All the bling with the stadium and the training facilities yet, probably lucky to make EL next season.
And to top it off, we watch as Poch stands in the dugout with a Chav crest on his shirt, money to spend, and will get them playing exciting attacking football and a good possibility he could win plenty of trophies for them...while we wonder is there anyone out there worth their salt who will want to manage us ?! Anyone ?

Daniel Levy is killing this club. Its a tourist attraction now, a premier league money generator of which the chosen few benefit greatly and the rest of us keep our heads in our hands and wonder what the fuck is going on ?!?
That interview at that college was pointless. Most of the questions were clearly by people who clearly had no interest and even less knowledge of the club or football in general. Spineless fucking coward.

So we've sacked Conte.
We've now sacked the interim.
Mason is hired.
We're in shambles & there are still 6 games to go.
There is a very strong possibility that Mason could be sacked.

Does anyone know who would be next in line?
The kit guy looks like a good bloke.

Would love to see Mason do well this season and get the club. Someone who loves the club and who would work well with Levy.
I've been ENIC out for years, possibly twenty if they stopped Abramovich coming here, but I doubt we'll ever know on that one. However, they're here for the foreseeable, so maybe Mason might be the one to get the best out of Levy and vice versa.
Who knows tonight could see our future, I hope so. A win and a draw at Anfield and things look positive again
Okay so I'm dreaming but even us old uns are allowed dreams 🤗🙏🤗

From the BBC: 'Meanwhile, Spurs' talks with former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann about becoming their manager have hit a stumbling block because of the uncertainty around the club's sporting director role. (Telegraph - subscription required, external)'

Money is no object when hiring supermanagers. But everyone in the pantheon can smell the rot by now.

He's likely asked a perfectly reasonable question about what the club's transfer policy is going to be and I suspect Levy has reached for the pearls and caught a dose of the vapours.

It does raise a question: shouldn't we have a DOF or whatever in place before we hire a manager? Or does the new fellow they hired make that less important?

Well as far as we're led to believe, any DOF will report directly to Scott Munn who will be the overall "Head of Footballing Matters" (or whatever it's called).

I suppose it does put us in a slightly unique position in a way because it would mean that any prospective manager who was interested could also name a DOF they'd like to work with and we could attempt to appoint them at the same time.

But it equally does make a managerial appointment just as difficult because the DOF will, I assume, be the one overseeing the transfer policy so any manager would like to know that before joining - not after.

That said, there are a few stories floating around this afternoon that we're alleged to have held further talks with Nagelsmann about the job but that the absence of a DOF is still a bit of a stumbling block.

Vincent Kompany has signed a new five year deal with Burnley so that’ll end any speculation about him taking over.

I do wonder if a lot of agents just throw it out there that we’ve made offers to their clients just to get them noticed. A lot of these names do seem very random

It's being reported that we're expected to have a "clear run" at Nagelsmann in the summer and that we won't face any competition for his appointment. He apparently wants assurances about who the DoF will be and how much say he will have in transfers before entering in to any serious talks which is fair enough.

Alonso seems to be another name off the list as Leverkusen have said that he's contracted until 2024 and he will definitely be staying with them next season.

If we get Nagelsmann then fine, but I'm not going to build my hopes up. With no CL income and FFP getting ever tougher, we won't be splashing out huge amounts of money unless we sell Kane.
I want us to go back to looking for bargains like we did a decade ago.
If Nagelsmann is to be successful I want it to be through superior coaching, because hes unlikely to be buying a series of ready to go superstars

Well then ..

To echo one of the replies, I suspect he's probably told us to do one and this leak has been authorised as a face saving exercise.

Story being picked up by other places as well as it stands.

So we're down to Arne Slot, Mason and probably Brendan Rodgers if, and hopefully when, Leicester go down.

As @Yid said earlier, proven, or even up-and-coming managers are going to want to see a plan before they join the club. And we ain't got one.

I've never thought Nagelsmann would be interested, and if he was, he'd see it (a bit like the CC and Tony) as a temp gig, basically beneath him.

I suppose Mason is probably back at the top of the list due to the high probability that he'd be willing to work with the current squad as-is rather than bringing anyone else in.

And with no DoF and no Scott Munn until, apparently, July then it gives the Dark Lord all the justification he needs to not spend any money.

The club is now a complete embarrassment. Any manager Levy looks at they'll just do anything not to make eye contact with him.
Fair play Levy, great stadium. Pity about every other aspect of the club though.

So who do we go for now ? Carrick ?? It's either going to be a decent novice like Carrick or a washed up money grabber. How exciting is this eh ??

Spot on, this is negligent, there is no other word for it...

The trouble is the waiting list and sports tourists...

They dont need fans anymore, they need customers, it's as simple as that.

Levy has managed to change the business model from relying on fans filling the ground and maybe buying a couple of pints, to corporate packages, cheese rooms and TV money.

I understand the club needs to grow and evolve to compete in the modern game... I understand we need to comply with FFP (although it would seem up until this point, no other fucker has) and that branding and corporate sponsorship is important, almost as important as other revenue streams... but are any of those things bigger than the on field activities...?
